He didn't have an outlet to hook up to cable but was able to access our WiFi so with this he could watch YouTube, Netflix whatever subscription services we were signed up for and also access the cable company site so he could watch on demand movies with their app if he wanted to.

I've found them to be very reliable, quick to start up, with a nice feature of settings and applications. The wireless connectivity makes it very convenient to place the device within your home.
