Bought them mainly because of their speeds. I spend most of my time using them for file transfers. Compared to a flash drive these devices are extremely faster at the same time the most I ever needed to be transferred is 250GB of data at a given time. I feel this item is more specific to the needs of a person.

This is my main ssd, carrying all my Logic Pro projects & iMovie stuff. Samples, photos, books. Just everything. Runs fast and have not had any troubles with it. Actually liked it so much I just bought the new version of it, the t7 to back this one up.

Purchased two of these for backing up my Macbook Pro with USB-C ports. Got tired of slow USB-C flash drives! The read & write performance is very good, my backups take a lot less time now to complete. The supplied cables are a decent length, not too short or long. There is an activity LED on the connector end, which is good to have, but it is quite dim and you may not even notice it right away. A few nitpicks in regards to the Samsung application for enabling hardware-based encryption: 1) It doesn't adhere to the macOS standard Cmd-Q keystroke for quitting the app (you have to click an X at the top right corner instead), 2) when booting up the system with the drive attached it mounts a FAT partition automatically and you either have to dismount it manually or put up with the macOS notification about it not "being ejected properly" once you launch the Samsung app and enter your password to unlock the drive (the app is apparently forcibly de-presenting the device without first unmounting the partition) -- it would be better if the driver recognized that the drive has already been encrypted and not bother mounting that default partition. Right now I am using the hardware based encryption as I figured offloading that from the operating system might make it perform better. However, I didn't think out the implications of doing so in regards to a recovery scenario: if you use the H/W-based encryption you have to download and install an app from Samsung in order to unlock the drive, which means you have to have a functioning, bootable operating system in order to access you backups! I may end up switching back to letting macOS/TimeCapsule encrypt the filesystem and backups as that would allow for using the boot-time recovery methods supplied by Apple to access the backups.

This external drive replaced a 10 year old HDD that was reporting a soon to occur failure - still worked OK but SMART said otherwise. This SSD is the perfect replacement - using it on my Linux system both as a backup device as well for temporary files. Plug it in, its ready to go...

I have had some issues using regular hard drives for storage and backup of my pictures. Purchase this SSDrive from Best Buy to solve problems. Have always had good quality thumb drives and SD cards from Samsung, so I bought this 500 gig Samsung SSDrive. Great price, quick delivery and good performance.

I've used a number of external drives in the past and this is by far the best I've used. The SSD feature is very nice but I really appreciate the size of the drive given its storage. I travel for work so I was glad to switch to something that was both more compact and more functional all-around.

I can’t rave enough about this external! It is brilliantly FAST when backing up. I backed up nearly 500GB of files in about 3.5 hours which usually would have taken me 24+ hours on any other external. Going to get another to carry with me during photo shoot to back them up. Highly recommend.

Have the old t1, was hoping for noticably faster speeds for the Xbox. It's definitely faster, but I'd buy whichever version of Samsung ssd is on sale at the time. Definitely a must for the Xbox, games load so much faster!

I needed an SSD I could use to work off of so I could edit a video on my laptop and main desktop workstation depending on where I was. This was perfect. Was able to plug and play on either computer and work on my 4K video files in After Effects or Premiere no problem.

Easy to use and the set up is equally easy. acts just like an alternate Drive on your computer. A key feature is the Solid state construction and expected high reliability. The fact that I got it at a great price was icing on the cake

Very compact 500 Gb solid state drive. Since there are no moving parts, that makes it even better for portable backups. File transfer speeds are very acceptable - definitely better than many thumb drives I have used. Also has software for password access if needed.

This is the second T5 that I've purchased. I like that even while connected via USB-A, I still get great speeds. The included encryption will let me rest easy if I was to ever lose the hardware. I've used these already to transfer files from every platform (PC, Mac, and Android).

This thing is beast! I had an old laptop that was running very slow. I reset the PC and had windows installed on the SSD And it runs faster than ever. That’s one way to use it. Another way I use it is with my desktop. I run/use video editing programs

I bought this with my macbook pro, comes both with usb type c and usb 2, moved all my backup files to it from my old mac, it was very fast compared to old external drive which is not ssd. Love the blue color. I would consider buying the 1tb for time machine on my imac and macbook.

I love how this SSD is small in size and doesn't take a lot of space is my bag. It is also incredibly fast but it is a little on the pricier side.

I'm a full-time photographer. I needed something faster to connect to my iMac for handling my LR catalogs. This little hard drive fit the bill. The price was right and the speed has made working through my catalogs so much more efficient. Very pleased with this purchase.

Using it as storage for the shield. No complaints. Does not overheat and have nothing bad to say. Fast access and large enough.
