Decent ssd. Writes slow as hell though. Wouldn't recommend for more than occasional backup or low loads. Get something faster if you move a lot of data.

Used for over one year for desktop backup. Worked well, quite fast read and write. Encryption working smoothly. Last week, stopped accepting password. Made contact with Samsung, and was told: "Sorry, cannot retrieve data, but for a charge, you can return to us and we will wipe it clean and return it to you." Same thing happened about a month ago to my Samsung T3. Unacceptable!! Shifting my business back to Western Digital for the future.

USB-C cable is defective. Since external drives are plug and play, when the T-5 would not power-up on my new PC, I assumed it was a bad port. After getting an upgraded replacement PC, the same thing happened. So far my T-5 has been to Samsung twice under their warranty. Both times the drive came back defective. I tried a different SSD in the same USB-C port and it works flawlessly. I would not recommend this drive.

Tried to use this as a working drive for my Recording studio I’m I kept having issues with read speeds with logic X

1. Slow Speeds averaged transfer speeds of up to Write 38 MB/s and 39 MB/s Read . My PNY USB Stick with 250 GB is faster 2. You cannot purchase Geek Squad support Novelty item but it is going back

Very small and affordable external drive that is still working after a few years. File transfer is fast when using the included usb C cable. Has an indicator light to let you know when it is safe to remove.

Purchased this SSD a few weeks ago. I've has plenty pf HDD prior but finally decided to upgrade to this technology. This thing is so small, yet so quick. Transferred all my files from my PC to this in no time. I also transferred the same files to my Galaxy S8+ within minutes via the included Type-C cable. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to backup files. Very satisfied customer here.

Love my new drive. It is Fast. I have a T3 500 GB as well. Also Best Buy's new same day delivery service was Fast.

There are several Portable SSD drives on the market today, and they're all still expensive because of the technology involved. The new Samsung T5 uses the latest stacking method for onboard circuitry and components which makes this drive unbelievably small. Also, it has the best read/write speeds of any portable SSD USB-C drive I've researched.

Hooked this up to my iMac 27” 5k mid 2017 Thunderbolt 3. Speed: Ave. Write : 476 MB/s Ave. Read : 529 MB/s Booted the High Sierra MacOS from the T5 and benchmarked it.

i used on forza horizon 2 it changes speed first time 1min20sec third time 1min3sec forza horizon 4 is 1min 15sec only did load twice and its over 2min on xbox one x hard drive all the way to your drive on the road rocket leaugue not wort it im very happy with my purchase

Great SSD and storage size for the money. Excellent speed. The small form factor, length and width of a credit card, is great for travel as well as desktop use.

I used to have the Sandisk SSD 256gb and it was fine, until I tested the data speed and I saw that the Samsung was 4 times faster and I'm so happy with it.

The speed for transferring files is amazing and it is the smallest, best looking SSD currently on the market.

Just 2 weeks beyond the 3-year warranty, this drive completely failed. Samsung would do nothing, even if I agree to pay for data recovery outside of any warranty. Two aftermarket data recovery serves (including Best Buy's Geek Squad) also tried (the other of which would have charged between $700 - 2500 to retrieve my data, if they could). But they couldn't. Non one could. A "controller error" was fingered as the unresolvable problem. Do not rely on this SSD for long term or back up storage. You may be screwed. According to the later data recovery company I contacted, the failure rate for SSDs is no different than standard, spinning disc drives. Beware.
