It has come in handy to be able to keep my phone storage low but still ahve access to off cloud items. Especially since my online storage was full. I used as a video/picture mostly due to sports photography.

On my Mabook Pro Black Magic gives 835 Mb/s write and 904 Mb/s read. Files transfer very fast. Use the included usb c cable to get fastest speeds and you need either a usb 3.1 version 2 port or thunderbolt port. On ordinary usb 3.0 ports the speeds drop to around 460 Mb/s. Included software allows you to check for firmware updates or set security on the drive you want to.
