    Great external drive for iMac

Works great on 2020 iMac. I use it to run Windows 10 (via Bootcamp) and it runs quickly. There are online videos on how to install Windows on an external drive. It does get a bit warm so I keep the drive placed flat on the desk to help transfer the heat. Size is compact and feels like a solid product.

Transferring from a MacBook to Windows laptop and wanted to move from a ~10 year old HDD external to SSD for faster read/write speeds, better durability, smaller form factor, etc. Have just over 500 GB of media dating back many years and wanting to keep it all safe for years to come. Was having the *worst* time with the HDD formatted in Mac OS extended. Luckily the Samsung T7 came formatted in exFAT already and was able to communicate with both my MacBook and my new Windows laptop. Didn't sit and measure write speeds (as was transferring from the old external HDD to the new T7) but was impressed when accessing the media later on how quickly everything loaded. The form is amazing - smaller than a deck of cards and much thinner too. No troubles with heat or either the USB type C or USB type A connections. (And pleasantly surprised that they included both in the box). Super happy overall and tons of room to grow into it now.

This amazing unit, easily took all 2 TB of videos we put on it, and then proceeded to accidentally get placed in the washer with a whole load!!! EEK! After the wash cycle was completed it made its way in the dryer for a full cycle…. Once the hard drive was nice and clean we plugged it in to hopefully view our current uploads. She fited right up and works perfectly. :). I dont care what you say about Samsung, THIS BABY Is a work of art.

I've had this for about a year, maybe more. I use it for backing up code and also some game installations in launchers like Steam. Do note that that sometimes installations by Steam might be incredibly slow (especially the "Reserving Space" and "Validating Files" stages) but this is likely the fault of how Steam interacts with external drives. Once installed the games play great. Also note that USB transfers will always be inherently slower than internal drives. I definitely recommend using a high speed USB port to mitigate that. The drive is small and light. Very easy to toss in your backpack and go. Definitely a great choice for media storage and archival.

Fast, small and easy to use. My main reason for buying this SAMSUNG SSD was the hardware encryption. In other brands that I bought before, I have hard time making the encryption to work smoothly. This SSD has a software easy to use and it works just great. Fast reading speeds, and small in size, very portable.

The most impressive speed-up for an older system is an SSD drive! They are wicked awesome fast compared to an HD disk. This one is very small. Not much bigger than a short stack of business cards. My only concern is when I run it if it lies on, or worse under, a blanket; it runs pretty dam hot. When you think about how small the chips are way down inside this thing, they have to be really, really much hotter, and heat is not a good thing for semiconductors. Historically semiconductors fail in the first 90-120 days or so. After that, they go on to outlive the person who bought them, so running it between a couple of blankets might be a way to eliminate infant mortality within the warranty period. Works fine. Lasts a long time. Won't rust. Won't bust. It's a product you can trust.

This is a great unit. It's fast and 4GB is really lots of storage. My USB drive backups are done in much less than half the time compared to my WD Easystore drives, and it's portable as can be. I'll get another one when it's on sale again.

For its speed and size, this is really well priced. The capacity is big enough to handle just about any video shoot I've thrown at it. And is fast enough to both be directly recorded to from the camera and then turn around and edit all of that footage straight off of the drive with no lag or stutter at all. At least when plugged into USB 3.1 ports and higher. Its also incredible how light and compact it is despite being able to handle that kind of work load. I really appreciate that both a USB C to A and a C to C cable were included, as more and more thin laptops are coming with only Type C ports this allows compatability with a broad range of devices to work with. Including my smartphone. I guess my only nitpick about it is that the external casing could be a bit more protective. But a hardshell case for these things is not expensive and will likely do a better job of keeping it safe anyway. So thats really not a big deal at all.

This is a super fast USB-C based drive that is so thin and light that you can carry it in your pocket easily. I really liked the speed at which data could be transferred in and out of this drive, especially when you connect it to a good SSD and thunderbolt (USB-C) laptop. I have seen good speeds when connected to my Macbook Pro 2019. I also plugged this to my Samsung TV, which recognized this easily and I am able to access the folders and video files on this drive easily. The disk does get hot when you are transferring huge data in or out of it, but other than that it works great. Samsung provides 2 different USB cables (USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A) in case you want to connect to a laptop with USB A type connector. The size lets you carry a lot of things that you don't need to have in your laptop all the time.

Bought for PS5, even faster than internal storage!

I bought the specifically for my PS5 since Sony was very generous with the 800GB they gave to use at launch....lol This adds a full 1TB since there is no "system files" or chunk of storage reserved, which is what the PS5 needs/does with it's internal storage. I was skeptical since the PS5 was having issues with external storages drives with a handful of systems, but wow I must tell you - I'm shocked how FAST this thing performs. No joke, games pulled from this SSD seem to load faster that when they were on the internal drive! I transferred all my PS4 games onto this is a matter of minutes, when it took over an hour to transfer to the PS5 initially! This thing is super small which is nice. I already have too many games I'm in the middle of and couldn't load up some of the PS5 games I bought - now I have plenty of room for awhile and shouldn't have a storage issue. I was iffy about spending this much on PS5 storage but absolutely glad I did! Got it on sale for $160 and would recommend to anyone needing more gaming storage!

It’s incredibly small, which is excellent for personal use. The files transfer quicker than other external hard drives. I wish it had more storage capacity, but for the size of this product, it’s pretty good. For a easily portable storage product this more than exceeds expectations.

Great little back up SSD, very fast, very small and very easy to use. You really cannot beat the price and for Samsung quality it is a great deal. I connected the drive to my Macintosh lap top computer, configured it for a Mac and did my first back up in under ten minutes. BTW I did not expect it but a cable was included (really two cables a USB A to C and a USB C to USB c which is the one I used.

Purchased a 2TB T7 to replace a 500GB Samsung T5 portable SSD which was running out of space. Runs a bit warmer and is a bit longer but thinner than the T5. It also seems to be a little pickier with USB cables than the T5 (T5 never had an issue with my USB C to A adapter or any cable but my T7 does not work well with it although included cables work fine). Crystal Disk Mark speed test shows speeds as advertised but only for smaller files. For larger files the speeds seem closer to the T5. The T5 and T7 are both fast enough for me and you really can't beat the form factor for convenience of these drives. One thing to be aware of, the Samsung T7 and T7 touch series use new software, which is different from the old version still required to use with the older drives. I now have both the Samsung SSD Software (original for my T5 which I still use) and the new Samsung SSD V1.0 software for my T7 on my desktop PC, Microsoft Surface and all my phones. I am not sure who at Samsung thought this confuaing naming convention or requiring different apps was a good idea but it is confusing, eapecially when I cant read the full name of the app on my phone and have to guess which one I need to launch. If I had known they require me to use two different (but similarly named) apps to unlock the drives, I might have stuck with the T5 for now so I am deducting a star from my review. Hopefully Samsung can make it so all of their drives use the same app.
