Wanted to wait and use this for awhile before I reviewed it so I can give the best review I could. I have had nothing but horror stories with device powered mechanical and SS drives - but I have to say that this little baby is incredibly tough, fast, light and sleek. I’ve used it primarily with my ‘23 MacBook Air, but have also done some TM backups from some of my older Macs. I have also done some Final Cut edits directly against the drive without even a flutter. Really, this thing is awesome. They also go on sale often so keep that on your radar - but the price is already pretty good and it’s well worth it for the quality and speed.

My partner works in content creation for small businesses and has been working off HDD’s forever. I personally have been using internal and external SSD’s for a while and finally got her on the SSD wave. She’s extremely happy about the amount of storage and speed she is able to utilize. She is able to work Lightroom and Davinci projects directly from the drive with no hiccups. The T7 shield also provides her extra security from drops, which she was most worried about. Chose this over the Sandisk after their recent controversy with the Extreme Pro SSD issues. We’re extremely satisfied with the purchase.

I bought this for my MBP (2021 M1 Pro 16" with the small 512GB of disk space) to use for personal files and projects that aren't related to all of my music work on the MBP. It's small, it's fast AF, and seems a little more rugged than my older T5 and T7 drives. I feel like I could take this with me when I travel local or abroad. My only complaint? I wish the included USB C-C and A-C cables were color matched to the blue one I bought (side note: The blue one was the only one on sale when I bought mine). I have it configured for a small Time Machine encrypted volume, then the rest is just 'scratch' storage for all kinds of personal files that I don't need backed up in Time Machine (like I do the OS drive with music projects and work).

I've had the Samsung T7 Shield 2TB external SSD for a couple of months now. It almost installed itself. It triples the storage capacity of my laptop, is blazingly fast for an external drive using the USB 3.2 interface and is easily portable when I'm on the go. I have nothing but good things to say about this drive.

It's fast, it's durable, and it's very portable. Notwithstanding difficulty using this on my USB-C port, it is exactly the cure for my need to store large numbers of videos with immediate access.

I’m a video producer and also a content creator on YouTube so I am constantly uploading files to my SSD. Not only is the transfer speeds great, but its portable design fits easy in my gear back plus it’s very rugged. I’m rough on my gear so this SSD is reliable in my entire workflow.

Had to get this when my 2TB External Hard Drive stopped working (after only 2 years with minimal use). This is faster, much more secure, smaller, and designed for transport. Considering getting a second one for business purposes.

While these are a little pricey - so worth it to keep photos offline but with easy access. I am not real technical, so this is great. I transfer photos off my camera though my computer straight to this drive. Also works l to download phone pictures. super easy to use - lightweight but rugged. I have not dropped mine, but it is rated to be dropped so that adds peace of mind. Highly recommend.

This is my favorite external hard drive due it's size and ease of use. This easily travels with me and comes with a variety of cords to hook into whatever device you are pairing it with. The outside cover is also durable so I never worry if I accidentally drop it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a compact hard drive.
