This one is better than the regular T7. The speed is a very subtle improvement, but it’s more about the build quality. It’s a much sturdier version of the previous.

so far so good, it does get a little hotter than i expected it to, but i guess that is the rubber coating

The T7 is a good entry level ssd with decent transfer speeds for files needed on occasion.

This portable SSD works well, it's fast and does not get all that hot. I use it to record video and it's doing that perfectly.

Speeds dont match what is quoted. I am using this on a M1 Macbook air with an older anker usb c dongle (2018-2019). I was transferring some pretty big files from an SD card to this SSD. 50gb-150gb worth of data eqch transfer and it was taking 15-20min or more. Not happy about this. Will be contacting samsung

This is a great product for the price. This is much more dependable than the platter style hard drives and last much longer.

The Samsung T7 Shield 1 TB External SSD Drive is a small, compact easy to carry external hard drive that provides much needed storage expansion in many small and light laptops as well as a great desktop solution for people needing additional file storage. The T7 shield connects via a USB C port and supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10GPS) and utilizes the PCIe NVMe interface. All of this provides a really fast read and write speed. I am using the T7 to stream videos and I have not had any issues with lag whatsoever. I have been extremely happy with the performance of this drive so far. The Samsung T7 is equipped with an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance and is drop resistant for falls up to 3 meters. The Samsung T7 Shield has preinstalled software that is compatible for Windows, IOS and Mac and Android. The software that is included allows you to use the security features of the drive. If you don't want to use these additional features, then the drive is basically plug and play, once your computer recognizes the drive is connected. The drive even has a soft touch feel that adds a premium feel to this small drive, which fits easily in your pocket or will take up very little room in a computer bag. I am very pleased with the T7 Shield and I find myself taking it everywhere with me when I am using my laptop for personal use and for business. I happily recommend this drive to anyone looking to increase storage capacity.

1st purchase of an external drive. Good price, quick shipping, excellent quality and seems to work flawlessly. If I were to have any complaint it is the lack of any type of instructions with the unit, the Samsung tutorials lack dept on use. For me a friend gave me tips and steam (gaming platform) automatically ask about where to download the items I needed the drive for. If instructions were included everything would be 5 star.

This SSD is fast and I don't worry if I accidentally bump it, as has happened with hard drive.

Its hard to connect and you need to download an app

Works as designed and definitely a good price! I especially like the rugged exterior.

I like the color and rubberized design however it has a poor design around where the USB C cable attaches and doesn't make a firm connection. As a result I've had it detach even when being cautious when moving it knowing how poor the connection is.

This drive does everything I need to do. I would definitely buy again.

It lasted less than 90 days. It is ouside of the return window. So, now I have a $120 paper weight.Do not purchase one of these drives!

Fast drive, use for backups and only takes minutes every time

This is the nicest all around drive I have owned. The drive is super fast with SSD internal drive. The looks are also very attractive and the drive is rugged. Samsung thoughtfully packed this with different cables making it useful for more than just laptops. There is software to install for Mac and PC, but also works flawlessly for my iPad Pro with the USB-C cable. With it being solid state, it is completely noiseless and doesn’t become hot with ongoing use, even with intensive reads and writes. Most of my other drives are considerably larger and not nearly as portable. With multiple laptops, this is the one that I carry with me for every occasion. While this might not seem so important, I’m writing this as I stand in line at an airport with a very heavy backpack. The weight and size of the drive matters, especially when traveling. As SSD drives become less expansive, these will become the standard for portable storage. Samsung always provides top of the line products and this is no exception.

Great item. It does what I bought it for. I have not had it long enough to see how well it will perform.

I've bought a couple Samsung external drives in the T-series and been very happy. Needed another one and this one was available (in spite of Best Buy's generally terrible availability issues), so I grabbed it. Stay away if you don't like that slimy rubbery feeling of dense rubber/silicon (?). It feels oily and smells like petroleum. And I'm sure in about 2 years it's going to have that sticky rubbery texture with clotted dust going on. Yuck. Missed my return window or I would have taken it back.
