Great investment
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great investment. It’s a hit for outdoor movie night. Teenager and their friends love it. My husband and I have movie night. We use it on the side of the house or even on a wall inside. Clear picture. Better than a tv.

Almost there...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a big time "rushed" product by Samsung. I am sorely disappointed, and for the price...makes it deceiving to believe it's worth it. The apps are completely missing! There's no way to cast/mirror this device, no internal battery (nor backup battery avail), and no way to ADD more apps! Completely frustrating to the point where's I may truly return this device and wait for Samsung to do better!

I'm sorry to hear you're not fully enjoying The Freestyle. In addition to the pre-installed options, please know you can install, delete, and update apps to suit your preferences. From the projector's Home screen, navigate to and select APPS, and then select the Search icon in the top-right corner. Next, enter the app you want to download and select it. You will see detailed information about the app. From here, select Install. Your projector must be connected to the Internet to see all available apps.
You can also watch the screen of your mobile device on the Projector screen through Smart View or Tap View on Android devices or AirPlay with iOS devices.
Go to: Home > Menu > Connected Devices > Connection Guide > Smartphone, and select Screen Sharing (Smart View) for Android devices, or Apple AirPlay to cast from an iOS device.
Please also be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1095.4, which includes various performance updates. You can check this by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
Additionally, please know you can use a portable battery charger with 50 Watt output/PD (Power Delivery) with DC 20V.

We appreciate your feedback on The Freestyle's brightness level. If the image is too dim, try adjusting Picture Mode, Contrast, Brightness, or Sharpness settings.

...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
Movie: Is suitable for watching Projector or movies in a dark room.
You can also manually fine tune your image under Expert Settings. Go to: Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings
Please also be sure you’re running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your projector is using and if there is an available update through the settings by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.

Posted .Hi Impressive,
It's great to hear you're enjoying the image clarity of The Freestyle, and we appreciate you sharing your experience with your unit turning on by itself.
Sometimes, connected Smart devices send abnormal "power on" signals through the wireless network that triggers the projector to turn itself on. If you do not want this function, navigate to Menu > Settings > All Settings > Connection > Network > Expert Settings > Power On with Mobile, and turn the setting off.
If the projector continues to turn on by itself continuously, please call Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

Horrible issue's - Shocked this is from Samsung
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zero stars, This is basically a prototype product. I can't believe Samsung released this product with their name on it. Processor is horribly underpowered and can not even set the device up properly because you need to wait 3 seconds for every click to register in the menu. I updated to the most recent update and still has major issues. The keystone and autofocus continues to adjust randomly when the device isn't moving and it doesn't even adjust correctly as it's always slightly wrong. On top of the major issues listed above it's brightness is barely able to seen in a completely dark room at night. The reviews from all the people that got the product for free are completely biased as they know if they give a bad review they won't get any free products in the future. This will be returned and I surely won't be paying a restocking fee for this pile of junk. Run far away.

Compact and fell short on my expectations
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this projector. I'm a Samsung freak. I was let down. It gets warm so dont just leave it plugged in all the time. The remote seems to be glitchy and sometimes don't work (the power button and volume buttons work all the time) the projector is supposed to auto adjust it does..... partially. This remote also somehow controls my Samsung TV

Posted .Annalhb,
Please ensure your projector's firmware is up to date with version 1210.0 which includes updates to improve remote response and Auto Focus. You can check this by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
Watching content for an extended period of time can cause the unit to generate heat, which is released through the vents on the projector. The vents may feel hot to the touch when the projector has been used for an extended period of time. This heat, however, is not a defect and doesn’t affect functionality. When in use, make sure you maintain a distance of at least 4 inches between the projector and other objects (walls, cabinet sides, etc.) to ensure proper ventilation.
Although the remote can’t be paired to a specific TV as it uses an IR signal, you can take advantage of the remote control function within the SmartThings app. If both your TV and Freestyle have been added to your SmartThings app on your tablet or mobile device, you can use the app to control each device individually.

Great Portable Projector
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can’t recommend this enough. I’ve been using this to stream mainly, I haven’t tried using the HDMI input, but hopefully plan to get a PC dock and use it to connect a Steam Deck to this unit for maximum on the go gaming. Really fun to use outside too

Hi-tech and Problematic
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit may overheat or power itself off. It also did a factory reset on its own; I set it up on the first day, then the next day, when powered on, it booted up as though I just bought it. The unit showed the "Hello/Bonjour" screen again and I had to set it up again. I paired the unit to a bluetooth speaker and it worked ok but when I started it up again, it does not automatically use/connect to your bluetooth speaker though it shows it's still paired to it. While trying to add VUDU to the App menu, the App screen would freeze several times; had to power the projector off/on again. While trying to add VUDU app, the projector kept launching the Samsung Plus app which would play in the background while I was trying to set it up. The unit is small and not very bright; the room pretty much has to be dark; wouldn't recommend it be used as a slide show projector for a daytime office meeting unless you could darken the room. The remote control is a little too simple; not much control. You pretty much have to use the Samsung Smart Things app and the remote together; some things work better on the app whereas the physical buttons on the remote are easier to use to navigate the menus. The Smart Things App has an option to power on the projector but, it doesn't work. Another issue with the app is, adding other devices like, a Samsung TV; somewhere, somehow, the app updates the remote to control the tv and when you think you're powering on your projector, your TV comes on behind you instead.... Had to remove the TV as a device from the Smart Things app. So, something that's supposed to be hi-tech and convenient, actually turned out cumbersome. I bought this for the workplace, but I can't imagine giving an employee this unit, which appears simple, and them not having the same issues let alone, working through them without assistance. For me, it's back to a good old projector and audio/video cables hooked to a laptop. I'll return this unit and hope I can get out of paying the 15% return fee on electronics; having read many posts of others having similar issues, I don't think a replacement will fix these issues.

We appreciate you sharing your review. Please keep in mind that watching content for an extended period of time can cause The Freestyle to generate heat, which is released through the vents on the projector.
With voice recognition enabled at all times, the Wi-Fi and microphone module remain active even when the power is turned off. If you feel heat even when the device is off, turn off AoV (Always on Voice) Mode. Go to: Menu > Settings > General & Privacy > Voice > Bixby Wake-up Options, and select “Only use the Bixby button” or “Additionally saying ‘Hi Bixby’”.
Please know that some settings such as Bluetooth will not be remembered, as these devices are used on demand. When the projector turns off, the Bluetooth device will disconnect, and the projector won’t reconnect automatically unless you choose to pair the device again.
To resolve the App Store issues you're experiencing, please ensure your projector is up to date with the most recent firmware version, as this includes updates to improve performance and app responsiveness. You can check this by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
Although the remote can’t be paired to a specific Samsung product as it uses an IR signal, you can take advantage of the remote control function within the SmartThings app. If both your TV and projector have been added to your SmartThings app on your tablet or mobile device, you can use the app to control each device individually.
If the image is still too dim after updating, try adjusting Picture Mode or Expert Picture Settings.
Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
2) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
3) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
You may also want to fine tune your image's brightness, sharpness, contrast and more by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings
