Fatal Flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is great. Picture quality is good. Once you get the shape dialed in, that works well. Interface is clunky, but you can make it work if you turn off some of the software it comes with. But the biggest problem is it's not bright enough. You can only use it as your TV if it's in a pitch black room.

I'm sorry to hear you're not fully enjoying The Freestyle. If the image is too dim, please try adjusting Picture Mode, Contrast, Brightness, and Sharpness settings.
Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
Movie: Is suitable for watching Projector or movies in a dark room.
You can also go to: Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings to manually fine tune your image.

Dim & slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a great-looking (aesthetically) device with hardware that utterly fails to meet even the barest expectations set by the design and brand. First up, it's dim. Very, very dim. Unless your room is very, very dark, you are going to be disappointed -- especially if you compare it with any other top-name portable projector; the Epson portable I replaced mine with (EF12) has been a literal night and day difference. So much more useful. And Epson makes an even smaller device (EF11) with twice the brightness of THAT one, if you can forgo the large but excellent Yamaha speakers of the EF12. Secondly, it has the slowest UI response of any consumer device I have used in the last decade. It's unreal how bad the performance of this device is, again compared to any major competitor; Epson's similar Android TV UI is vastly better-performing, as is an Apple TV (any generation) and frankly any projector over $200. Navigating, play controls, movie responsiveness -- it's all bad. This thing needs a total overhaul of its internal hardware. And the recently launched V2 does not seem to have prioritized either of these major issues. Pity, because it's a GREAT design, and I love the available travel case. It's just not remotely up to the level of its competitors.

You may also want to further optimize performance with the self-diagnostic tool, which checks memory, frees up unused cached memory, and closes background apps. Go to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Device Care > Start Device Care
If the image is still too dim, try adjusting Picture Mode, Contrast, Brightness, or Sharpness settings.
Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:

Stopped working after 1 day -- avoid

Very simple and I would do it again. On the Samsung Freestyle: As a compact projector it is good. Clear image and good sound. The user interface is VERY VERY slow and horribly unintuitive to use. Plus, the device is loaded with apps (I would call them spam-ware) that you quite possibly don't want and can't delete. Some apps, like the interactive guide, auto-play channels and you can't stop it from auto-playing. Worse yet, the projector stopped working after 1 day. It wouldn't power on. After working with Samsung support they had me ship it to them to be repaired. On Samsung Customer Service: they were responsive and helpful. Too bad that I had to call them at all.

Disappointed with the Samsung Projector
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been an avid fan of Samsung products for years, so when I decided to replace my old XGIMI Halo Plus projector, I naturally turned to Samsung, expecting a top-tier experience. Unfortunately, my recent purchase left me deeply disappointed. Firstly, the functionality and features of this Samsung projector couldn't hold a candle to my old one. The options and capabilities on my XGIMI Halo Plus were far more versatile and user-friendly. I found myself missing the versatility and quality of my old projector. What's worse, the Samsung projector I received seemed to come with several malfunctions right out of the box. It would inexplicably restart every 20 minutes, which made it impossible to enjoy any content without constant interruptions. Additionally, Alexa would mysteriously activate without any prompt or interaction, which raised serious concerns about privacy and security. Frustrated with these issues, I decided to return the product. However, I was surprised to learn that they charged me 15% of the product cost as a restocking fee because the package had been opened. This felt like an unjust penalty for a defective product. While I have had great experiences with Samsung products in the past, this particular projector left me questioning the quality and reliability of their newer offerings. I genuinely hope Samsung takes these issues into account and works to improve their projector line in the future. In the end, I cannot recommend this Samsung projector based on my experience. It's essential to research thoroughly and consider other options before making a purchase decision, even from trusted brands.

Do not waste your time!

Like so many others it worked for 1 day and then completely stopped working. Wouldn't even turn on. Returned it for a refund. So sad because if it worked it would be awesome. But after reading so many others reviews too this seems to be a reoccurring problem!

garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im pretty tech-savvy but It was difficult to set up. Mainly because it isn't very unresponsive. You have to push the buttons either 3-4 times or have to wait several sec for it to do as you asked, sometimes both. It also would have to be adjusted everytime you turned it on. It did those items all the time. Very frustrating, so we rarely used it. To make it worse, after using it 15-20 times in 4 months we could no longer adjust the screen size, making it worthless. while trying to adjust it last time it shut off and would not come back on.

I was so excited to get it. After 16 months, and 4 total uses, it will not power on, at all.. after literally 2 hours of use. I am still paying for it (have $280 left - it was ~$1000 when it came out) and the only option is to pay $229 to have it repaired since warranty is only 12 months (who knows how long it will even work after that). Save your money. Avoid at all costs.
