Useless, would only back up 30% of my pictures/videos then stops, not a memory issue. Spent over 2 hours trying to get this to back up my iPhone and repeatedly would fail

Recommend buying on Amazon’s for free shipping. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to turn their back on Elite Plus members must have also worked for Sears. Best Buy won’t exist in five years if this keeps up.

    Better than using iTunes!

The hardest part about using this item was removing it from the package! This flash drive is very cool and super easy to use. All you have to do is download the app on your iOS device, maybe set up a few settings (I did not). Then plug the drive into your device and select what you want to do. You select what you want and let it rip. That's it, you are done! This drive lets you do anything from simply back up your photos, or transfer them to your USB type C device, such as computer or Android device. After you transfer photos it asks you if you want to delete the photos when you are done to free up space on your device. I thought that was super cool. You can also backup your device with it. It is 128GB, so I decided to fully backup my 64GB iPhone. It asks you what you want to backup, such as contacts, photos, media, etc. Then you let it rip. It is easier to use than iTunes. You can even restore your phone from one of the backups. You can essentially plug it in whenever you want to backup your device and unplug. So if you ever lose your device you are always safe. With iTunes sometimes you have to upgrade the software or run into other frustrating issues, especially when using a PC. With this the only issue would be if you have a device with 256GB or more, then you would need a bigger flash drive. Overall I highly recommend this device for fast and easy backup options and if you want to free up your phone by transferring photos and other media.

. Summary: One trick pony that can be sluggish and the software temperamental at a time in technology its not clear we need that trick (cloud availability etc), BUT, if you want to physically back up your photo and movie files off your iPhone and load them to your computer to free up space on your iPhone with minimal muss and fuss, this IS the device for you. My story is about Apple gear (phone, pad, computer), your mileage may vary on Androids etc. Three years ago, I would have given this a 5 Star rating, but today? 3+. It could have been a 4 but I found the software buggy (later changed to 4, but on the fence). Three years go, I tried out a similar concept from one of their competitors and found the software disappointing and not automatic at all. I gave up on it fairly quickly. And three years ago, the Apple Cloud seemed to rain more than shine, or so it seemed to me. But now in 2021? Copying of photos to the Cloud is automatic and could not be any easier, as long as you pay for the storage space (Okay, big if). And Apple has given us Files software, which makes transferring of files to external devices on the iPad to be easy. But Files doesn't seem to be as easy on my iPhone, or at least the number of devices I can connect to an iPhone are smaller. Which is my first complaint with the SanDisk, iPhone Files does not see it. There goes that hope for skipping the SanDisk App. Which leads me to my second complaint. Not a big fan of requiring Apps to work with devices. Now maybe it's apple's fault it doesn't work with Files... but..okay, requires an App. But the App crashed on me during transfers twice, one required restarting my phone. Instant point loss there. And my third complaint.. it can be slow with large (movie) files. Not too surprising, it is a USB drive. So, maybe not a complaint but an FYI. And my fourth complaint, wait I don't have one. Now we get to what I like. Pros: 1) It is well made, sturdy. I have a lot of confidence tossing it in a pocket (pants or bag). 2) Easy to use, I plugged it in the first time and it automatically prompted me to down load the App. And then the App leads you through the transfer process. Easy. 3) This makes back ups safer, easier, and faster. Back ups are a very good thing. 4) Big brother isn't watching. Not a worry to me, but I know some people are paranoid about sending their files to the cloud. This eliminates that step and you can set your cloud setting to 'mind your own business and don't upload my pics.' 5) Price is right, especially if you save on Cloud storage. So yeah, after writing out those Pros, I leaned towards 4 stars. Cons Lets re-list the cons. 1) Doesn't work with Apple Files (their iOS filing system, not file files). 2) Requires an App which is in need of a refresh. 3) Can be slow with large files. To me, if you want physical back up of your photo and movie files from your iPhone this does the job better than anything else.

Compact Flash Drive in Dongle Form Factor

SanDisk - 128GB iXpand Flash Drive Luxe for iPhone Lightning and Type-C Devices Summary: A perfectly sized flash storage device in dongle form factor. This unit can be attached to a key chain with ease and makes transferring files from your iPhone to a USB-C compatible system (computer) a breeze. Pros: * Size. Some dongles have awkward shapes. This device is right-sized and offers an easy switch between interfaces by a simple pivot. * Interfaces. Lightning is a blessing and a curse. A proprietary interface Apple has been slow to do away with, transferring and reusing cables has always been a nightmare. Now we don't need an adaptor and then a USB drive. The drive plugs in directly to the phone and then directly into an available USB-C port on your computer or tablet. * Great speed. Transferring files is a snap and performs much quicker than wireless and other in-between-dongles. Cons: * There are no cons for this device. It serves its purpose as designed and performs well. Use: We have many Lightning-equipped phones and tablets in our household. We also have a few cameras, some with USB-C ports. We frequently use our tablets and computers to view and edit pictures from our cameras. But first, we have to move the files from our cameras (phone or actual camera) to our view/editing devices. This was always a tedious chore. Something you started and then walked off to get some coffee. This device is compact and kept easily with our mobile devices. Do we need to view/edit? We just plop the dongle in the respective photo device, copy what we need, and then plop it into the viewing/editing device. Note: The performance of the Lightning and USB-C port is really surprising. It shouldn't be, I know, as the specifications are pretty clear. But when compared to our former methods of wifi, non-USB-C, or memory cards... the difference is quite stark. Fantastic device.

The Sandisk flash drive is a well built, sturdy flash drive. For its size, it has a good feel and doesn't feel like a light weight piece of plastic. The transfer speed during backup of my 3600 plus photos and video files wasn't super fast but was adequate. Having the dual connectivity to my IPhone 12 and USB C is definitely a plus. Once I downloaded the free app, I was basically ready to backup my IPhone items. I just plugged it in, and I was off to the races. The transfer went smoothly with no hiccups. The app had a tab that indicated available storage space on my IPhone as well as storage space on the IXpand flash drive. Overall, the device worked well and I'm very happy with it. It performed as advertised and I have no complaints.

Easy way to transfer pics/videos to computer!

The SanDisk iXpand Flash 128GB is very useful in transferring video/pics/audio clips from your ipad/iphone to your computer without having to use ITunes / icloud software to accomplish it. Even better, have you ever wanted to shoot a video but wanted to bypass the icloud? To do that, you would normally have to put your iphone on airplane mode to turn off ipad/cellular because as soon as you finish recording/taking pictures it will attempt to upload it to your icloud. Having a button to just immediately record ONTO the iXpand bypasses that, making the transfer to PC immediate. It also allows you to completely backup your pictures when you plug it in (and have it set to do it each time you do) but I take pics/videos of nature w/my phone that I would prefer to just save directly onto a flash disk to place on my computer for editing. This alone makes the iXpand worth it! Pros: Easy backup of pictures. Direct saves of pictures and videos onto flash Quick app launch after plugging in (after a confirmation) USB-C connector for easy newer laptop/PC connection Cons: The line printed on package for cutting is not accurate - it needs to be lower Viewing thumbnails off phone/ipad are slow (but not entirely unreasonable) USB-C won’t allow you to plug it into older devices, or devices such as a SmartTV/PS4 (PS5 does have a USB-C) I’ve already recommended this to my friends who have limited space on their iPhones to quickly transfer newborn baby pictures/videos onto their computers to share with others.

The SanDisk - 128GB iXpand Flash Drive Luxe for iPhone Lightning and Type-C is a perfect companion storage device for your iPhone. Like many of us we have tons of pictures and videos on our phone that we are too lazy to transfer over to our computer. This product solves that issue with a compact and fast alternative to doing so. Let’s talk about build quality. For such a small device it’s build quality is excellent. It has a durable metal casing and it’s looks sleek. It also has a keyring hole that’s handy. Pop it on your keys and you’ll always have backup storage with you. One end has a lightning connector and on the other end of swivel has a USB C connector. Both fast and efficient methods of data transfer. When first connecting to your iPhone the memory stick will prompt you to download the app. After doing so you are ready to use your new memory stick. Files transfers are quick and I also like that it asks you if you want delete files from your phone automatically after transferring them to the memory stick. This saves you another step from having to go into your phone again and deleting the pics you just copied to free up space on your phone. Overall great storage for your iPhone or any other device with a lightning connector or USB C.

    Handy Dandy Little Gadget

This thumb drive from SanDisk is one handy little bugger. First off in my book is the fact that it's USB-C. I'm a big fan of USB-C and feel not enough thumb drive manufacturers are embracing this standard. Then you add in the fact that I can connect this to my iPhone 12 Pro Max to offload photos and videos then it becomes darn near perfect. I can easily offload videos and photos from my iPhone and then connect it either to my Mac or iPad Pro using USB-C for editing purposes. It works great with Files on iOS and iPadOS so no problems there. If I had to lodge any sort of complaint about this excellent drive it would be that the Lightening connector is covered by an easily loosable cap. Other than that I have no complaints at all about this drive.

No more need for an adapter to transfer files and photos from my iPhone to my PC or external hard drive. Excellent construction—metal. And small for transport. Plug the lightening side into your phone and wait for instructions to pop up. Grab the app(or it automatically opens if already installed) and choose what you want to back up or clear off. I have 12K photos in my phone that went into the SanDisk drive in less than 5 minutes. I plugged the usb-c side into my laptop, and it was just as fast! Worked great for videos too. The app is easy and intuitive. It allows for automatic backups each time you plug it into your phone. SanDisk is always fast, easy, and small. Another winner!
