Best little mp3 player on the market

There are lots of these mp3 players out there - this one just fits the bill for me. Sounds great (and that includes the earphones), easy to use, and it's small but not tiny. We have 3 of them...one for the car, one for entertaining on the patio, and one for the gym bag.

This is an excellent player! It is light weight and has a great battery life. The sound is also good for such an inexpensive player. If your not a fan of iTunes this is definitely a great choice!

Have been using SanDisk clip Sport for less than a week and already the volume automatically reduces to zero during my workout. Yes, I can refresh it, but should I have to this early in the game? FYI: customer service is limited to next day e-mail only. No live chats, no customer service by phone. On the positive side: Good displays, good sound and good price.

Got this for a dad, so he could listen to something while at work. Has a pretty good battery life, lasts through a few work days for him. Uses it with a sol republic speaker, and has a good volume.

    From an Audiophile Type

I filled the left side (the built in memory) with 8gb of random tracks from my prior compilations on cd, which are all mastered on minidisc and digitally recorded on the original home cd recorder that I purchased because my 1997 Corvette only took cds and all I had was cassettes, which I still have. I never wanted to get into mp3s because the last time I listened, I thought mp3 sounded awful. I took a chance and ordered the SanDisk, not knowing too much about transferring music this way. I used the SanDisk support, who were very helpful, to learn the ins and outs .I made a juke box with the supplied memory of random tracks all recorded at 128kpbs mp3. Then, I ripped as many cds as would fit onto a 32gb sd card. Beautiful, I get the artwork, everything is organized. I compared this unit to another brand from overseas that I also really like, but honestly, the SanDisk sounds crisper. The programming is smoother too, I am using it to centralize my entire music collection. I have many different stereo systems that consist of some of the most powerful, well-built, etc. I hook the SportClip up via RCA to this little, tiny SanDisk and it blows me away. I thought I had to spend much more and had to like computers much more to accomplish centralizing my music. This SanDisk qualifies as the most extraordinary audiophile breakthrough in history. The mp3 format at 128kpbs sounds good enough to not warrant ripping in the lossless WAV format, which uses four times more space. It's completely crazy to me, but mp3 at 128, 192, or 256 sounds as good as lossless to me. I think SanDisk must have some sort of proprietary sound adjustment, because it really sounds good. Well I'm one happy camper! Thank you for building such a great product.

Sure it has good memory and long battery life. However it does not have the same features as earlier SanDisk clips. The feature to record radio broadcast is gone, in fact it has no record function at all. It also will not load playlists I put on it. It will load the music, just forget to put it on the playlist. It's hard to call this clip an upgrade when they add features just to remove others.

I purchased this MP3 player to replace my iPod. I enjoyed that the iPod would randomize my music when hooked up to my car. While the sport does randomize your music, it doesn't when hooked up to my car. Very disappointed. I could have kept my USB drive. Otherwise the player is small and easy to use.

    Step Backward From Earlier Clips

    Posted .

I bought the Clip Sport to replace my Clip Plus with a dying battery. I would have been better off buying a mini charger. The Sport is missing many of the features that I used in the Plus. If these features are not important to you than you will probably like the Sport. The sound is great and the battery lasts as advertised (20 + hours). Most of the time I listen to music by Genre using the option on the Plus. Unfortunately Sandisk removed the Genre feature on the Sport with a Firmware update (it is still listed in the User Manual). To work around that I thought I could build Genre Folders but since the Sport does not play subfolders I had to extract all my music from the subfolders. I also spend a lot of time listening to Playlists of books I burned from CD’s. Creating a Playlist was a two-step process using only one program with the Plus. Now it is a four step process that requires you to move files back and forth between two programs. There is a fifth step if you want to add an entire folder to your playlist and you have to extract the songs. If you want to play your files in a certain order (like a book) then you have two or three additional steps overriding File Explorer’s sorting. Finally, although not a big deal for me, if you want a song in two different Playlists you will now have two copies on your device. Very inefficient. Couple of other quick complaints. The Sport does not display the whole name of the Album/Song/Artist. No big deal if you know which band is The Rolling and you don’t have too many The Best of albums but it is another step back from the Plus. Not sure how they designed the Shuffle Feature but it seems to start over each day and plays many of the same songs for the day before. Bottom line, like many upgrades these days, the Sport is one step forward two steps back from its predecessor.

    Not for listening to books!

Purchased last February and immediately downloaded several books to Overdrive and then onto the mp3. It shuffles the parts of the book, which makes it hard to follow the book. I have turned off the shuffle feature and that has no effect. I had an old mp3 with books on scandisks and they play the books in order. The radio is great! Looking for another mp3 player now. Happy New Year!

    Very Good, but lacking perfection

Mostly I love the thing, and use it for reading books. My complaints below wouldn't matter so much for enjoying music. What is lacking is: 1. Hold Switch - some way to turn OFF inadvertent button presses. I use it for audiobooks and must be very careful not to touch the tiny thing by accident, sending me into the next or previous chapter by accident. This happens quite frequently if I am not careful. 2. While it is nice to make the thing so cute and tiny, it would be GREAT if they would make a slightly larger model for older users like myself, who prefer larger buttons that are easier to access without pressing the wrong thing by accident, something very easy to do. Not much larger, something to fit in the pocket nicely, about the size of a credit card would be perfect., and about 8mm thick, to give it some body, the better to hold. The screen could be smaller and more functional, since this is not for viewing files or videos, but communicating text data. 3. file sorting can be a problem. Would be nice if there were some settings in the Settings menu about how to sort files, rather than have it done automatically. Tip: I use the Settings->Customize menu to turn off the panels I don't use, and have only the Radio, Folder, and Settings panels available. Everything in the Folder panel is sorted by file name, which solves any problems with sorting. The DISADVANTAGE with this is that it doesn't create the position files to remember my position in a file. However, as long as I don't accidentally flip chapters, it remembers where I am when I turn it on and off.

Really like the player. The battery does last a long time and really like that you can use a SD card with it. There is only one thing that I did not care for and that is that when you use the back button to change a selection it will take you too far back: it sometimes won't let you go back only once.

NOT a Clip Zip nor Clip+

I listen to LOTS of audio books, most of them from the local library/Overdrive, I own 6 Sansa Clips in various versions. So when I saw the SanDisk Sport I had no reservations giving it a try based on the wonderful experiences I've had with their earlier Clip models. Sadly, the Sandisk Sport is not completely compatible with Overdrive. As of 02/20/14 you can only transfer mp3 files and it mixes up the order so you may go from (Disc# 1 to 4 to 2, etc..... The Sport version doesn't offer a "lock" so its easy to bump it and either advance a #Disc) or restart the current one. Most of the problems could be solved with a firmware updates so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The earphones incl. are a great improvement over the old ones! The battery life is wonderful! I may be able to listen to War & Peace on one full charge. Hopefully with a few firmware updates to work out the kinks the we'll have a Sports version worthy of the name Clip. Until then..... back to the just about perfect ClipZip or Clip+.

First of all got to say this little mp3 player is as good as others on the market or better, very friendly to play with, and even to put mp3 albums or put folders by name so you know what you want to hear, the battery life is excellent last my 8 hour shift at work plus still have battery left, not like other brands that battery die quick and don't last long, i would recommend this mp3 player for the price you cant go wrong, i like testing electronics and this mp3 player pass the test :-)
