I have only used this on a single device, so far (new Laptop) so I can't rule out USB 3 port issue on the new laptop at this time. I will update is this continues.

Delivery company claimed they left it on our doorstep, while they actually left a very damp package at the foot of our driveway . Fortunately we did not run over it when we came home! Hardly a great way to treat electronics! Not impressed with service.
