Small package to backup lots of photos
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 2 of these to backup my photo files (I shoot a LOT of pics for both work and fun). One has my older pics from my PC files, other has the files from my Mac laptops. Both are quick to use & feel like it is less likely they'll crash and lose my pics since they are solid state drives instead of spinning. Have a 3rd drive like this that stays in my laptop bag when I travel to backup on the go & protect my images. The first 2 are stored in the safe and take very little room. As an added bonus, they use USB-C & have a USB adapter... useful with the new MacBook Pro that only has USB-C slots.

It’s the way of the future!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as my laptop was having hardware issues and I needed to back up my previous work, and I must say that this was the best storage investment I have made in my life thus far. I had not used a Solid State Drive up to buying this, so the immense speed capability was astounding to me. The weight and dimensions are just as remarkable! The drive is so light and small, I could clip this onto my keychain and not have it feel dramatically different! And having a USB-C port and a USB converter was a plus, as I could future-proof my work. I strongly recommend this drive to anyone who needs extra space of any kind.

light weight, small, and super fast
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SanDisk Extreme Portable offers a very fast USB 3.1 Gen 2 over USB Type-C connection. The drive’s case sports a textured surface on the front and the back, making it easy to grip. There’s also a nice big space at the top to attach it to a backpack with a clip or even a keychain. SanDisk bundles the drive with a three-year warranty. With 500GB of storage, this drive is a great option as a portable back up drive or a media drive when you’re on the go, and its amazing speeds won’t leave you twiddling your thumbs while you wait for all that data to transfer over to other devices.

Ultra fast and portable
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had countless external drives to work and personal use and none have been able to compare with the ease of use, portability and speed that this drive offers. At the price you pay for this drive you get a keychain sized drive, a USB c cable, and a usb c to a adapter. The only draw back I have is the length of the cable provided. It is about 4 inches which might be too small for some people but flat on a deal works just fine. I’ve been using it as an CACHE drive for my Adobe After Effects work and it haze been excellent. Highly recommend this item.

Just the thing for a mobile photo archive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this SSD to carry sample photos, photoshop documents, and Lightroom catalogs that I use for teaching. It's smaller, lighter, faster, and less fragile than the portable hard drive that it replaced. It's simple to use and plug-and-play with my Mac -- no need to format or anything: just plug it in, and copy files onto the drive. My only quibble is that the included cable is really short. I ended up dropping an extra $30 for a one-meter cable with a USB type C connector on the drive end and a USB type A connector on the other.

Fast, portable, and durable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SanDisk portable SSD provides a more durable storage device as compared to a hard disk, and provides much greater read and write speed. While its edges are smooth, the top and bottom surfaces are textured, which makes handling the drive easier and safer. It claims to be shock resistant and splash and dust proof giving me more confidence than my old thumb drives. I haven’t had cause to prove or disprove these claims. The only complaint I have is there is no indicator light to show that this SSD is transferring files or is even connected.

Top score for this portable external drive option
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love everything about the SanDisk Portable Solid State Drive given the small size and large capacity, the protective shock-resistant rubber coating on the device, the key-ring option keeps it handy and easy to label. Unlike any other portable drive I have used and glad to be rid of the multiple thumb drives that I used to use but no more. This is all you need to back up your data or travel with your digital files.

Fast and easy to setup and use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a SSD that I could use to hold a couple of virtual machines that I use for demoing software. This device being connected to my USB type-C port works great. I can't tell the difference between running my demo's on my local hard drive versus running them on this SSD drive off of the USB-C port. The combination of the SSD and the USB Type-C interface give you the better performance. It is also very small and light so it's easy to take with you.

Glad I waited for solid state (portable) storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is small, it is fast and well worth the money. Much more stable then using flash drives. I was waiting for a small affordable solid state storage device. I take a great deal of photos while on vacation. By storing my photos on this solid state storage, it is easy to transfer all the photos to my desktop when I get home. I also storage owner's manuals of the devices I take on vacation for easy access to needed information. Can't believe all this storage in such a small package.

Worked wonders for my iMac as External Boot Drive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old iMac was struggling to keep up once I updated to Catalina. Due to COVID-19, I relied on my iMac to work from home. It was taking 3+ minutes for a web browser to open and once it did, I could hardly work due to how slow everything was working. Unfortunately, my iMac internal hard drive could not be upgraded without having a professional do so. I bought this SSD to use as an external boot drive. I am so happy with the results. My old iMac runs better now than it did brand new. This drive is so small, I hardly even notice it on my desk. I definitely recommend it, no matter what your need may be for an external drive, be it a "normal" use or to use as a boot drive.

I use it as a Case Sensitive file system
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of work with Git repositories (software cloud folders). Nearly all software cares about upper and lower case letters in the filenames. Mayhem ensues when you have a file named "hello.pdf" and another one named "hello.PDF" on computers that don't recognize the difference between upper and lower case. On Macs and Windows machines, these files are the same because these operating systems are case insensitive. But on Linux systems, they are different (because Linux servers are case sensitive). I plugged this little hard drive into my MacBook Pro and formatted it as case sensitive and it works perfectly for me. (NOTES: You *can* format your PC drive as case sensitive, but some software on your computer will get confused because it expects case insensitive filenames. You *can even* format a portion of your PC drive to be case sensitive - but that's getting more technical than most people are able to do. Me - I'm able to, but using an external SSD is so much simpler than wrangling the OS. It cost me about $120 for a half a terabyte. And it's portable. Much simpler. Finally, I paid $120 and I've seen it elsewhere for about 2/3 the price. I needed it right away so buying it at Best Buy for a premium made sense to me. SSD prices are dropping all the time. You should be able to buy it for less by the time you read this review. )

Gets hot during backups from MacBook Pro
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this for a year or two on my MacBook Pro. It supports Time Machine backups and my experience with it has been great. Only complaint is that it gets super warm during backups. Maybe that’s because of the compact size. Oh yeah, the size. This thing is super portable—palm sized!

Compact and lightweight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This external drive is extremely small and lightweight so is perfect for travel. I purchased this drive for external photo storage when I went to China for two months to keep space on my computer HDD free. It has a USB-C port (cable included) which makes data transfer extremely fast. Threw this in my laptop bag and never had an issue.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very impressed with this drive. I have only had it for a short time but it has worked great. So far it is durable and it was kind of surprised how light it was. Data transfer has been easy and fast. I have been putting lots of photos on it and it has been great.

Expensive, but fast and light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a rugged, fast and very small USB3 drive. Bought it for travel to use to back up pictures and stuff. It’s way more expensive than a normal spinning disk drive, but worth it if you want confidence that it can take some abuse and keep working. Seems pretty fast, but I haven’t tested it. Others have I’m sure,

Small, light, extremely fast
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for fast extra storage. No more heavy externals. This is maybe 5mm thick! Lightweight therefore extremely portable. You won’t be disappointed, so watch how many other makers copy the design! Price is dropping fast, especially when the “others” start appearing.
