Since I see this has happened to a couple other people here, apparently these drives like to fail unexpectedly. Same issue as others — drive works fine, had multiple TB of data on it, then I plug it in one day and it needs to be formatted/initialized with an unreadable partition table. Tried on both mac and windows and neither could read the drive. I was able to recover a number of my files using r-studio/r-undelete but lost over 100GB of data. Glad at least that it failed within the return period, this is going back and I’ll never trust another SanDisk SSD again. STAY AWAY!!!

For now it works. I bought two units. One of the units, Under very heavy load the one of the hard drive disconnected from the computer, i had to resume the operation of tranferring back a 3.31 tb hard drive image. Later i learn there is apparent firmware to resolve this exact issue, but i unable to download, mine says serial # is invalid.

I've had this hard drive for no more than 2 weeks and this hard drive has now twice deleted files by itself. Big money making projects have been lost and I've had to spend money on data recovery software to get bits of it back. This is an absolute NIGHTMARE of a hard drive and I wish I never bought it. Seriously don't take a chance if you value what you put on your hard drive. On top of the lost info it has cost our company 40+ hours of man hours trying to recover the data.

Disk unrecognizable after 2 weeks (so cannot return). Reformatted and had the same thing happen again, and again. It has been unrecognizable now 4 times. I actually bought two of these, the first one I bought seems to work, but am anxious about continued use, especially since I was just on a photo vacation and type other people told me they had the same problem. I’d like to get a refund from best buy or sandisk for both units I purchased. I’d even be happy with store credit.

Worst quality disk ever. Second replacement drive in a row failed now, of course right after the return period is up at Best Buy. It seems to be a very common problem with only the 4TB sized Extreme Pro model. I'm not sure I can trust this product enough with my collection of personal pictures. I never had an issue with my other SanDisk Extreme disks, but avoid this particular model at all costs.

The device became unrecognizable. I tried it on several different computers with no luck. I tried to re-format. I had no luck. After 10% were done, the process stopped. Now, the device is unreadable. I need to return it, but I could not format it. Thus, all the info I downloaded on this SSD could be easily restored by a third party (the manufacturer). Now I'm stuck with this $350 piece of junk.

Softwarre for back up scattered folders and did not auto-back up Had to manually do it !

Horrible product. Avoid at all costs. The drive will fail after a few months and erase all of your data. This drive is a lemon, and BB refuses to issue a refund. As a long time BB customer, this is extremely disappointing. It's a faulty drive and this is a known issue, yet they continue to sell it. Do your research.

Do not buy this drive. Go lookup "SanDisk 4TB Failure" and read all the horror stories. I'm so glad I backed up this drive recently, because I just lost everything.

Very frustrating. When attempting to download files it worked for a while then all the data disappeared and it told me I had to format the drive. I followed the link but it did not work. Speaking with the company was very frustrating. No real explanation. I own three of these drives and have never had this problem

My ssd failed also. Bought 2 on 12/27/23 and one is ok and one faied after months of putting photos and videos on it. What would yall recommend for a good external hard drive…. I thought this was the best!!!!!

Very disappointed in this product, i expected a better performance compared to my last product and it was the exact opposite. The performance was noticeably less than an inferior prodcuct.

Worst SSD I’ve had. Check out other online reviews to confirm. The 4T has issues. I do run a 2T that has been great. I can also say Best Buy was great and let me exchange it for a Crucial SSD.

Literally a waste of money..... It gets corrupted every few hours. I used to soley use seagate. They're now in my "never again" with WD

It’s hold so many games and they play them really well and loads quickly as well. Can’t beat that…

After 200GB I can't move no more file from my phone to the SD, please check more information about this product before buying

This external solid state drive is working well. I’ve had no problems with it. I use it to do full image backups of my Windows 10 pc. I also use it on my iPad to backup photos, videos, and other files. Seems to be very fast. Copies 145 gigabytes in a matter of minutes. It gets warm, so I aim a very small usb fan at it. Don’t know if it is necessary but better to be safe than sorry.

SanDisk 4 TeraByte (TB) solid state drive (SSD) is my desktop computer back-up drive. It is very fast. The drive is thin and light som that I have it velcro attached to the rear of the computer stand and the short USB-C cord plugged into the rear of the computer. No straggly wires and very neat. Highly recommend SanDisk 4TB SSD!

Fast and reliable. I own three now and use them for backups and one as an external hard drive. I even have one for backups on my Linux PC. I don't have a negative thing to say about them. Very fast!
