Extra storage for camera photos

I unmounted it, removed it, installed it again and still wouldn't recognize it after rebooting. I wanted to see if it actually was the memory, so I took the memory from my phone and put it in hers and it worked. So we went to Best Buy and found this memory at a good price. Installed it and it recognized it right away. No problems since. Oh, turns out the old memory card was still good because I put it in an adapter and downloaded all photos and videos onto my computer. Glad those were saved! Not sure if the phone is to blame?
