I purchased this item primary because of the price and capacity. I have a ton of USB 2 sticks but this one seems promising. I have used it pretty heavily in the last month. - Bootdisk for reloading my MacOSX. - Storing backup software to reload while I am offline on new systems - I have even used it for temp caching on a data mining project due to the device I was currently on it was very limited on ram/hdd space. It held impressively and did not unmount under very heavy load. I was very tempted to buy a few more but after since I primary either have it in my laptop bag or key-chain it opens very easily (its obviously designed to be on a key-chain and mobile has the loop on it). It Drives me nuts. That is the only reason I took off a star. Yes I know they have a carrying pouch but I am not very interested in buy another product for something I feel should be handled on here. It should not be that difficult to add either a locking mechanism such as a pocket knife has or perhaps stiffen up the sensitivity of it opening up. Other than that I would strongly recommend the product for the price and quality. If I was not so mobile I would own several more!

It's a thumb drive, with a lot of space, that works.

I purchased this flash drive for the purpose of system backup. An incredible value for the investment. I was advised by Geek Squad personnel on this decision, and their advice and opinions have always been reliable for the past 19 years.

Over the past 20+ years, I have bought and used many SanDisk flash drives and cards. All of them are still working! This makes me confident that SanDisk-Ultra 256GB USB 3.0 Type A Flash Drive will serve my purposes longer than I will be around. This drive was purchased to store dozens of short video clips that I made for a non-profit organization that I work for as a volunteer. The copies were gathered from many different folders, so I now have them in one convenient compact drive from which I can distribute them individually in an efficient manner, as well as having a reliable backup. I am very happy with this compact drive and the reasonable price that I paid for it at Best Buy. It lacks a LED that some drives have to indicate activity, but I did not need it for my purposes, and I was happy not to paid extra for a model with the LED. Thus, I give it 5 stars despite the lack of a LED.

No need to spend a lot for storage. Priced low with lots of room for your data/media needs. Quick and easy insertion and/or removal of device. Perfect for the person who wants/needs to take their data/media with them. Rugged enough towards stand most activities and small enough to go just about anywhere.

This flash drive works well. It keeps all my pictures in an easy-to-carry unit The price was good and I needed something to reduce the amount of storage in my phone. This was a good solution. I recommend this flash drive if you need to keep some memory but reduce your phone's load.

SanDisk's headline for this device is: TRANSFER A FULL-LENGTH MOVIE IN LESS THAN 40 SECONDS (which is carefully footnoted: Based on 1.2GB MPEG-4 video transfer with USB 3.0 host device.). That's their way of representing a write speed for single large files - and it's impressive but I was able to get files close to 2 GB transferred over to the drive in under 40 seconds (replicated on two different computers - some tests took a little longer but I was able to repeat the under-40 second write multiple times). They also advertise potential read speeds of up to 100MB/s with a USB 3.0 port. And with the same large MPEG-4 video files I was using to test write speeds, I got consistent read speeds of 145-165 MB/s (with a USB 3.0 port). Naturally read/write speeds for transferring tons of little files are significantly slower but still pretty impressive. I attached two benchmark results below.

I took my older Apple to the shop to get all my documents, music, pictures and videos transferred to this flash drive. I am still amazed it holds all that information in that tiny little gadget.

High storage capacity and decent speed for a USB 3.0 memory stick.

I needed a high capacity thumb drive in order to move numerous photos from my hard drive. This flash drive did the trick. Worked exactly as expected.

The second one I have purchased, the first lasted over 5 years, being bounced around in my backpack, and being used weekly. Only bought a second because I need more space!

The drive was purchased to replace a usb drive I've had for 10 years made by SanDisk. This Item served the purpose for which it was intended. I formatted the drive, transferred files onto the drive quckly without flaws.

This little device is a big time saver--- copy times are excellent! Most flash drives are USB 2.0. This one is not, it's USB 3.0, and paired with a computer that offers USB 3.0 connections, is much faster than the more common USB 2.0 flash drives. I am using mine to move large video files from a Mac to a Windows machine. Loading to the flash drive is fast and copying them from it to the second machine is even faster. Doing the same job with a hard drive is faster, but not as simple. I enjoy the simplicity over a bit of lost speed. While this is a USB 3.0 device, I have also tried it in a computer having only USB 2.0 connections. No problems! Although it can't achieve the speed of a computer having USB 3.0 outputs, the speed was good and the transfer went smoothly. I've had great experiences with previous SanDisk purchases, and this product proves they are still top-notch. If you are looking for a fast, easy way to transfer files from place to place, this won't disappoint.

The previous SanDisk drive I owned had 16GB of storage, and this blew that one out of the water with practically 20 times the storage!! All for a nice, affordable price!!

This is a great little drive. I picked it up while on sale. I should have grabbed two! Nice to have so much storage on a small usb stick. I use it to transfer files all the time - when connected to a usb 3 port it is super fast. It holds it's on when connected to usb 2 as well. If you see it on sale grab it.

Purchased this 256GB sandisk flash drive because I need a large capacity flash drive. As with all of my previous Sandisk Flash Drives the drive is compact, easy to use, and reliable. sandisk is the only flash drive maker that I have never had problems with their products.
