Lets face it. All USB flash drives are pretty much the same, as long as they have the same capacity, form factor and have the same basic specs. One USB3 256GB drive pretty much works the same as any other. But SanDisk is throwing in a nice little bonus with some of its new models. This SanDisk 256GB Ultra USB 3 Flash drive comes one year of free cloud backup for everything on the drive. It works with a nifty little app called Flashback, which is a breeze to install and setup and works seamlessly every time you plug your flash drive into the computer with the app. Once installed, all you have to do is drop the files you want backed up into the Flashback app and you are done. Since it is USB3, it uploads quickly, giving you a backup copy even if you don't have the flash drive with you. You can even download it from the cloud. As another bonus, you can share files with anyone you choose. Simply click the link icon that appears on the file when you open it in Flashback. It copies a Web link to your cache, which can be pasted into anyone you want to email. They can access the file simply by clicking on the link. Even better, this is not one of those come on deals where you have to give them your credit card and it renews automatically (and your credit card charged) if you forget to cancel it before the free trial runs out. This deal truly is free. No strings attached. Can't beat that. Advantage SanDisk, if you are in the market for a flash drive. Be aware that although this drives looks identical to some older SanDisk Flash Drives, those will not work with Flashback. The app reports they are "not compatible." The app only works with Ultra flash drives like this one and the more compact SanDisk Ultra Fit flash drives. This particular drive is my preferred form factor, ie, not one of those tiny mini USB flash drives that are so easy to lose. Or one twisted into some bizarre shape. This one is an old school traditional size and shape (about the same as a thumb) with a USB connector that slides in and out.

It's easy to plug into my laptop, It hasn't corrupted any files for the time I had it. Pretty good price overrall.

Huge, perfect transfer speed, not a lot to rate a USB on but it hits all of the points

It's hard to get excited about a storage device, but this SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive can shorten times needed to read or write. It provides read speeds up to 100Mb/s and write speeds up to 10x faster than USB 2.0 devices, And the 256Gb offers enough storage space for most needs. What sets this device apart for most flash drives is that it offers free cloud storage for the first year. To take advantage of this free offer you simply download their Flashback program. (Look for the free offer on the package when purchasing your flash drive to make sure you have a compatible device.) Then, when you insert the flash drive into your device's USB port, the program automatically recognizes it and asks you to link it to the Flashback Cloud storage. Then, when you copy files to the flash drive, they're automatically backed up in the cloud by the Flashback program. While this automatic backup is a great feature, I experienced some problems with the backed-up files. My photos backed up great, but my text files were unrecognizable, both in the file names and in the content. Not sure why, but that's what I experienced. So, in summary, it's a great storage device, and if you plan to store photos on it, they'll be correctly backed up to the cloud automatically. However, I'd suggest you double check your text files in the cloud backup, since I found them unusable. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed by the time you read this.

Good basic storage and for portability of media. Speed of transfer is decent but could be better.

I've had several SanDisk products over the years and have always generally liked what you get for the cost. This flash drive is no exception. It works perfectly well straight out of the box and comes with a free year of their cloud drive service. I've yet to try that out, but intend to once I finish copying files onto the flash drive (I'm using it to back-up my music collection, which is over 150 GB). Speeds are fine. I'm not getting 100mb/s, but that may have something to do with my computer. I have a few other things I want to try out before I call "foul" on this one. Only complaint? I'm not a huge fan of the slider design, which this and so many thumb drives have. I find them to be a bit of a pain, especially when trying to insert the drive into the back of a computer that you don't have very easy access to. The connector always seems to want to slide back into the plastic when I'm trying to insert it into the computer. But hey - it's not like SanDisk is the only one using that design. All in all, this is an accessory that's easy to recommend. It will do what you need it to do and it won't cost an arm and a leg to do so.

great flash drive saves all my stuff easily and is small enough to fit in your pocket. if you have two go somewhere else

Easy to use and a great way to save pictures and files.

Because this thumb drive has such high capacity it's great for taking on trips where I need to work on files or primarily photo projects while away on an extended vacation. It holds an amazing amount of stuff and I can copy things from my main computer at home and bring them with me to work on on my laptop. I don't have to overload my laptop, just pick the files I want to work on on this thumb drive and then bring the completed work back home to load to my main computer. Perfect!

This new 256 GB USB, along with my older Sandisk and Lexar 128 GB USBs, don't "play well" with my new logitech M325S mouse. When any of those drives are in, can't use the new mouse on its pad. Similarly, I can't download files from live on-line presentations with the mouse to any of the above drives [have to download to the C drive and then transfer later to the USB after the presentation ends]. Never had such a problem with my old HP Pavilion [R-I-P]. Probably a driver problem--one or all of these manufacturers need to address this aggravating issue.

This flash drive is fast and has lots of capacity so it's great for backing up files and/or transporting them between systems.

I have used quite a few of these as probably everyone has these days. I transfer very large files for work and this drive is significantly faster than any other 3.0 USB drive I have used in the past. I also signed up using the Rescue Pro software and it is nice to use but it does come with some fees if you continue to use it but it is easy to use. I purchased a few more drives after using this first one.

Very useful piece of equipment,thanks to the Geek squad tech (Anthony) suggestion.It allows me to keep all the pictures,ww2 aircraft videos,trips,etc,Pavarotti etc etc...amazing how I had missed the oportunity to save all that content from an old cd

Ive used SanDisk drives before, and have generally had great results, the one caveot being that I have experienced drive failure (as with any flash drive, eventually) and had the stressful experience of trying to recover lost data. Ive also had an instance or two of being concerned about sensitive data being accessed on a lost drive, but am pleased to say this drive resolves both issues, with password encryption software included on the drive (complete with setup tutorial) and "Flashback" cloud storage (for a nominal fee after the first year) that allows you to back up your data to the cloud and thus access it from virtually anywhere. Data transfer speeds are extremely solid, and the drive is a quick plug & play load. You cannot go wrong here. Especially having the only flash drive stressors (unsecured data and unexpected drive failure) neutralized by this drive's features. Definitely recommend to everyone.

Grate cost and good for work storage pictures and videos that may take up to much space will help not overload your laptop big time

I purchased to store pictures/video. I have only owned it for a few weeks now but it works as expected. Fast transfer times. I have it about a third full so far. I would buy again!
