Gets really hot

The Regular Type A connection was very slow, and took a long time to transfer text and miscellaneous document files, after the transfer when I ejected the device from the system and went to unplug, the USB drive was really hot. I shut down the desktop and waited for the USB drive to cool before moving it the laptop and using the type C connection, which was a faster transfer. However the USB drive was once again extremely hot to touch and remove. I did not open this item and use it right after purchase, and it has now passed the return stage, otherwise I would have returned it immediately, will reach out to Sandisk regarding this issue.
