Pamphlet doesn't say not to do so, also doesn't spell it out. Why the concern? Camera DVR recycle recorded content repeatedly, flagging files for event triggers and overwriting older files. The drive is in use 100% of time with active write operations, will just have to see how long NAND lasts. I actually have 4 of these all mirrored on a battery powered system. Not enough power for actual drives.

Tiny size, huge capacity

I am planning on putting it on my keychain; it doesn’t come with a ring or lanyard, so you have to supply that.
