The thumb screw for adjusting the height does not work well and does not reliably stay in place which is a concern. The ones I got were sold as new, but clearly had been put together before (returned item?).

I was able to fashion a holder with nuts, bolts and a couple wing nuts, but that’s not what I expected when I purchased the product. The arms don’t stay extended like they should, and slip to the regular length routinely. I would not purchase again, but I got them from a Best Buy over 100 miles from my house and didn’t feel like driving back to return them, so I made them work for me

Sorry to hear that. What is the model number of your speakers? Any additional info here would be helpful. Also, is your screw to tighten them when extended not working? They should stay in place when extended as long as your speakers are under the stand's 10lbs weight limit.
