You get what you pay for. It does get hot pretty quickly so I wouldn’t recommend this if your planning on connecting your laptop to a monitor. I mostly use it to connect a usb drive or a sd card to my mac.

I get inconsistent performance from this product. Sometimes everything I plugged in would work. Sometimes nothing would work. Sometimes a few things would work. I sought assistance from Best Buy, which noted only that I was outside of my return window and sent me to the manufacturer. Fair enough, but I couldn't tell what the problems were within 14 days because it was so inconsistent. This is what the manufacturer said. tldr; I don't know why I would pay this much money for something that may or may not work with the items I wanted to use. It works as expected, Use to connect a 2nd external monitor. Only disadvantage is get too warm. I read the reviews before I bought this. Someone mentioned it as well, it gets warm. So I just disconnect the power to get it cooled when not in use.
