While the movie had some entertaining moments, it just wasn't as good as I had heard. I am not sure what I was expecting, but this film did not satisfy.

I was very disappointed, I was expecting a happy, great story, fun loving movie. Instead I got a very sad, depressing tail about a girl who had a sad life and never got over it. What once was thought of as a cheerful tail about Mary Poppins is now known to come from harsh real life escape. What a shame. Ignorance is definitely bliss. Not every stone needs to be turned, and shouldn't be. Disney lighten up already!

It was an ok movie. I thought some of it was moving, but some of it was silly and stupid.

It was a rainy day at the cabin, so we went to the store and picked out Saving Mr. Banks. I'd heard it was good and with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson it had to be, right? Wrong. Achingly slow movie and the few bright spots don't come close to saving it. I'm now on movie probation for a year.

Tom Hanks was amazing as Walt Disney. Hated the concept of this film and really was annoyed with this angry women who couldn't let go of her story.

A thick air of sentimentality, overly tidy storytelling and frustratingly sunny revisionism hangs heavy over director John Lee Hancock's Saving Mr. Banks, which never quite feels like the truest of true tales. And yet the sweet aroma of prickly playfulness and irresistible likability make it a positively pleasant film; brisk and earnest, with a touch of that patented Disney magic. Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks are spot on as persnickety author P. L. Travers and legendary filmmaker Walt Disney, and an absolute delight to watch. So too are Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford and B.J. Novak, even though Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith's screenplay push the quartet dangerously close to cartoon territory. Just be ready for a slightly different biopic than the film's trailers suggest. This isn't Walt Disney's story; it's P.L. Travers'. Scenes with Hanks donnings Uncle Walt's signature mustache and smile afford the man of the hour surprisingly little screentime in the first half of the film, while indulgent, overripe flashbacks to Travers' childhood (that are much too long and arrive much too frequently) cheapen the already on-the-nose proceedings with made-for-TV bluntness. Taken as a Golden Age Hollywood fairy tale, though, the utterly charming Saving Mr. Banks boasts just enough heart, humor and sincerity to almost, almost make up for its truth tinkering.

Enjoyed the film BUT WHERE IS THE DVD?

I was looking forward to watching this film. Being a Disney and "Mary Poppins" film fan. Two two time Oscar winners in the cast. I enjoyed the film & following the story along. EVEN if some of this may be just for the film. I will be honest and say I was not real happy with Tom's work as Walt. He did not even try to get the voice. Like Disney fans do not know Walt's voice. Good job by Emma & Paul Giamatti I did not need ll the Colin Farrell scenes, a bit much. Really enjoyed seeing "Disneyland" it the film. I wanted to see how much work they would have to do to make the film look like early 1960’s. So, they did not show that much. Mickey at the front of the park, some of Main Street & the merry go round. Now, Disney, why did this NOT come out in a blu ray and DVD package? I was totally disappointed in that, meaning I have to buy another package just to get the DVD. Needed more Making Of extras. I did like the one they had talking to Richard Sherman among others. So, I enjoyed the film BUT DISAPPOINTED AT THIS FOR NOT MAKING A BLU RAY AND DVD PACKAGE.

I really enjoyed this movie. I'm not sure if it's the great plot, my love for anything Tom Hanks is in, my love of everything Disney, or the fact that months before I was AT Disneyland (and while they were wrapping up filming), but Saving Mr. Banks is a great family movie with characters you can really enjoy. Tom Hanks plays an incredible Walt Disney, so much so that you really forget you're watching him and not Walt himself.

Fun yet disnefied story of getting the book rights

The movie was a heart warming tale of how Disney finally got the rights to make a movie of Mary Poppins. While there has been some discussion about the reality vs. the Disnefied version, it was still clear that Hellen Goff truly struggled with the decision. Loved the part at the end where the actual audio recordings of the meetings with the "Disney team" were used. It lent a bit of backbone to what was seen in Emma Thompson's performance. Seeing Bradley Whitfield skip and jump around while dancing was just a hoot.

A Wonderful addition to Bluray collection

I really enjoyed the imagination it took to tell this story in this way. The costuming is perfect and the attention to detail is on par with Disney. Well worth the 24.99 to get this added to my collection. Loved that it came with a digital copy as well!

    More engaging than you'd think

Really, who'd think that a biopic about the making of Mary Poppins would be so interesting - but it is! Okay, it's of dubious historical accuracy but I guess that's to be expected. Tom Hanks is great as Walt Disney!

Very well done character study. Tom Hanks was magnificent as Walt Disney. I found the development of the friendship between the author and her chauffer very compelling.
