Definitely a worthy upgrade over the standard blu-ray disc but grain haters may not be satisfied. Yes, picture grain is present and should be expected given this feature was shot 36 years ago on 35 mm film. The UHD transfer is nonetheless beautiful with grain only distracting in isolated scenes (outdoors and panning shots mainly). Fine details (skin textures and clothing) are rendered admirably and justify the upgrade over the standard BD. Tony’s facial scar is of particular note. HDR highlights pop with the neon lights of the Miami nightlife and the over saturated early 80’s color palette we all know and love. The only nitpick is comparing Scarface to the recent UHD release of The Shining. The transfer of The Shining exhibits inevitable film grain; but also displays a slightly cleaner presentation with a more nuanced grain management than Scarface. The DTS X sound mix is lively and active on my 11.2 channel setup. Gunfire and particularly the soundtrack both have serious weight and essence. Dialogue is clear and you won’t be reaching for your remote to adjust the volume based on the scene. All in all Scarface Gold Edition UHD is a strong transfer and a worthy upgrade for all but the most demanding videophiles.

This film is a lot of fun and that is all that can be said. Can't take it literally or seriously and after 35 years has become basically a cult classic, for which I agree. Totally violent, vulgar and tasteless, this film about a Miami drug lord, is just what you expect. Pacino is quite good, and Brian DePalma's direction certainly helps, but don't take it for more than it's worth. Today it's just a throwback to times when this type of material was shocking. Today it can be considered laughable and silly. But enjoy for what it is, and if you do, I think it's a worthy purchase and a throwback to some crazy, but ultimately satisfying filmmaking.

I’m sure this was way overpriced and probably quadruple dipping or more considering how many versions of this have been made... but that statue is neat and if you didn’t already buy the 4K version yet, I used my rewards points to get a significant amount off.

I don't have much to say of this product as it is a gift and can't open it. But I will say that if your a fan of the film then this seems like a no brainer to get.

Great film !! Love it!! Classic. But the 4K transfer was good.. but the Restoration was needed more. Criterion would do a better job on this restoration.

I like this movie but alot of bad language and profanity but great deal of action meaning shooting and gore. This movie is not for everybody.

Some movies I feel don’t need to be re-released in 4K, but I bought this on the sale and wow, the transfer looks amazing!

Love that they remastered this classic. Hoping they continue to do so for other Pacino classics.

good print of the film, nicely captures highlights and brightness of S FL in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Pacino's over the top portrayal of a cocaine mobster from Mariel doesn't avoid stereotypes--from the club-goers in S Miami [S Beach wasn't yet a 'thing', then] to the terrible image of [some] bad cops. always and everywhere, it's about the money--and de Palma's film shows that true here as well.

Upon first watching this film I was not impressed. Years later I gave it another shot. It got better. Each time I watch it I enjoy it more. Had to have this copy. Its part of the Project Pop Art Steelbook Collection I have going. At only $7.99 at time of purchase who cares if I have two other Steelbooks already. The cover is designed to look like coke lines. Now i've got the Yayo.

I held off buying this movie until a really solid special edition came out, but I fell in love with the look of this steelbook so I decided to grab it. The movie is fantastic - a modern classic with an incredible Pacino performance. But the steelbook is the real draw - great art, and a slick case. Def worth picking up if you're a fan.

This is a great movie. A classic cocaine drug trafficking movie, based in Miami, which Miami is famous for. The blu-ray could use a better transfer, but it still is adequate, and the blu-ray is the best version out there now. The Steelbook is a neat treat, and it comes with a digital copy. A good package for the price.
