I had to turn the radio volume to maximum just to hear it. But at anything more than 50% volume, the unit would produce an annoying high-pitched hum that made it difficult to listen to in the long term.

The following product is backed by Scosche’s Limited Warranty and Scosche's Lifetime Tech Support. First, you'll want to ensure that you're tuning your car radio to a "dead", unused frequency. Find a station that does not have an active broadcast and is preferably static covered and match the frequency on the transmitter to this radio station. Your Bluetooth FM
transmitter has a volume adjustment. If you still have the remote that was included with
your transmitter, once you've paired and connected your phone to the Bluetooth FM
transmitter, you can press and hold the volume + on the remote to raise the volume. You
can also press and hold the track forward button on the face of the transmitter. This will
ensure the volume on the transmitter is raised all the way up. The loudest volume setting
on the transmitter is 8, and you should see 8 on the display of the transmitter. It makes it easier to change the music and answer the phone so i'm not distracted while driving trying to find the buttons on the device.

Once you've paired and connected your phone to the Bluetooth FM transmitter you can turn and hold the Multifunction knob/dial on the face of the transmitter to the right (clockwise). This will ensure the transmitter's volume is turned up all the way. The loudest volume setting on the transmitter is 30 and you should see "V30" on the display of the transmitter.
