I had a failing original drive in my late 2008 MacBook Pro and I purchased this new seagate hard drive and it works perfectly for my studio recordings and when I use it in live band applications running soft synth instruments and DAW (Abelton). 5400rpm isn't the fastest drive as compared to an ssd but I still consider this drive a solid investment.

If you're looking for a HDD with plenty of storage, but better performance and stability than a traditional HDD (and while avoiding a high-priced SSD), this is a great middle ground.

I went with this drive as a slightly more affordable option to a 7200 drive. I'm glad I did. My MacBook Pro has never booted so quickly in to both Mac OS and Windows. I'm very pleased with this drive. I'm sure if I was doing a lot of video editing I might miss the 7200, but for everything else, I am happy.

I have always been partial to Seagate computer products. When I decide to rework my storage and use mirroring to protect data I needed a large capacity drive. The utilities to transfer data was excellent and work perfectly. It was even a bootable partition that I grew from a 128 GB partition to 300GB.

Not much to complain about. Some hard drive brands are flaky and the quality tends be on a seesaw, but right now Seagate is about as good as it gets for a consumer-grade internal hard drive. I will say the hard drive was extremely simple to install, but the same could be said for any brand.

Faster than the 5400 rpm drive it replaced, about double at sometimes, but still not half the speed a 3 year old ssd is capable of. Higher cost per gb than a normal hard drive. Mines working in a laptop used as a music streaming server, and some ftp/vpn. for my purposes it works fine, enough space to grow and faster than the one it replaced

Upgraded my storage to 1TB in my Macbook. Great price because of price matching. No my new, but older version of, Macbook Pro had more storage and better speeds because of upgrades than the newest model. For less money.

I purchased this item for my PS4 expecting it to speed it up substantially. While it was less than expected, the speeds were a bit quicker. The storage is amazing however.

This HDD was purchased for an Early 2011 MacBook Pro 13". It was a great replacement. Saved a lot of money compared to what I was originally gonna do, run a 500GB SDD, and a 500gb HDD at the same time via fusion drive. This was much cheaper. Definitely not SDD fast but everything runes just great. Definitely faster than stock. Definitely not as fast as Solid State. Definitely not as expensive as Solid State.

This hard drive work fast close to SSD drive speed, and more reliable. It is the best choice to get fast hard drive. The SSD drive is fast but not reliable and expensive.

Much faster than my old hard drive and larger too without being too expensive.

I purchased two of these for two MacBooks, one white unibody 2010 MacBook and a late 2008 MacBook Pro. For the price and performance gained, it is a must for any older laptop. I switched out the same hybrid drive from a 750GB to this 1TB. These are great.

I upgraded my 2009 Apple Macbook Pro with this. I had seen some slowing down of the computer although with out lab tests this is just a guesstimate. I now have a 1 Tb hard drive and 32 Gb start up drive so my 4 Gb of RAM doesn't seem so small anymore. I had read it elsewhere and I am joining the chorus- the least costly way to get a mega-improvement in performance is to upgrade to a SSD. This hybrid has my whole start up drive plus my frequently visited content "right there" when I want it and all of the music and videos I could possibly want on the 1 Tb drive for when I go traveling. $169 well spent.

I installed this bad boy into my PS4 and I LOVE IT! PS4 loads faster and I love having the extra hard drive space. I went with this over a 2TB HDD because faster speeds are more important to me than the extra space. I think 1TB should last me a long time.

This is actually my new PS4 drive,and for that, it is perfect. Quick load and response times, plus plenty of storage space. The install was a breeze.

This was great way to get SSD-Like performance in a 1TB package. While not quite as quick as an SSD, its still quite a bit faster than a conventional drive. This is a good happy medium for those who want the increased performance, but need a reasonably sized volume. The only gripe I can reasonably issue is the lack of cloning software or utilities in box. I've cloned plenty of drives, and it's easy enough to do, but for the uninitiated, it can seem like a daunting task.

I bought this to replace a failed hard drive in my HP laptop. I was able to install it, but it took me a couple nights to get windows loaded on, but I think that was more my restore and boot disks than the hard drive. I have now gotten windows installed and the hard drive is running well. Boots and shuts down very fast. I'm really happy with the purchase.

So far I'm very pleased with the Seagate hybrid sshd, 6gb/s, that I purchased for $99. I Installed it into a MacBook Pro late 2008 laptop dual booted with Yosemite and windows 10 . It is noticeably faster than my previous Seagate 5200 RPM SATA 2 Drive. The reliability is also rated much higher than a standard sata hard drive and comes with a 3 year warranty.
