    Listing does not warn about the need for installing special software to use on operating systems prior to Windows 8! The operating system reformats the drive to 860GB the first time it sees it unless you already have special Seagate software installed! I had to do a low level scratch to reset the drive. Will try to install it when my new PC with WIN8 arrives next week.

    This drive fail sooner than anticipated, I had the power off for one day while PC was running ,when it came back hard drive will not boot,I tried installing OS ,but drive was too slow and will not hold Data. I have to replace it with another . Definitely not a Seagate.

    The reason for my purchase was that the exact same drive failed after about 2 years, a period I consider ridiculously short for a quality product. The only reason I chose another of the same drives was Best Buy's miserable in-store inventory of potential replacements. On the plus side, I've finally resolved to buy cloud storage.
