Great Replacement Drive ** Super Quiet!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Drive - I made a Clone of my 1T and placed it in a drawer after my friends hard drive died and he lost everything. The software downloaded from Seagate worked great. No booting from a USB or CD to make a Clone of my current hard drive. Just loaded the software selected the source drive then selected the destination drive and reboot the computer. The DiscWizard started first thing after reboot and made a perfect copy of my original hard drive. Con: My computer doesn't support greater than 2T drive so the rest of the drive had to be setup as a 1T Logical Drive but no real issue. The 3T drive was about the same prices as the 2T drive.

Great drives for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still waiting for the price of these drives to come down. I needed 4 3TB drives for my Synology NAS and decided to buy from a brick & mortar store since I have a better chance at taking it back to Best Buy for the warranty. I am replacing four 2TB 5400 RPM Hitachi drives. Not only is my NAS faster with increased I/O bandwidth, the drives also run cooler. The previous set lasted me 4 years. We'll see how the Seagate drives go.

Works so far ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the floods in Asia driving up HDD prices, this is a pricey buy at the moment, however I have purchased two of them (so far) for use in my 5-bay DroboFS. The warranty seems like it'll be sufficient and [slowly] I'll be picking up 3 more, as prices drop once again.

Great for money, works with hiccups
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using this drive in a 27" iMac core i7 setup as an external drive. I'm using several external bay components that are hot swappable, Had problems with the OWC Newertech Voyager Q with quad interface BUT at the same time had NO problems with Thermaltake BlacXDuet. The BlacXDuet saw the drive immediately and read the correct capacity, the Voyager Q only read capacity at 800GB. Not sure if the newer Voyagers have fixed this issue.

For max capacity as single drive needs UEFI bios
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unless you have a computer built in the last couple of years (with UEFI bios) you'll need to use Seagate's software to use the full capacity even with Windows 7. With the software the drive appears as two drives. Otherwise this drive rocks as with all the other Seagate drives I own.

3gig had to make two drives to use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The software package make it easy to divide the drive in two or more drives very easily., Microsoft wouldn't make make an operating system use higher gigabite drives (no forsight on drives they know will get larger.) I am happy to my 3 gig even with Microsoft's limitations.

Warranty info on this drive is incorrect!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw this great price for a 3TB Seagate at Best Buy and ran to pick one up, based on positive reviews from the web. The Best Buy web site states that this drive has a 5 year limited warranty. However, the actual Seagate warranty is ONLY 1 YEAR. This puts this into the cheap, unreliable drive catagory as far as I am concerned. If you sniff around a bit, you can still find Seagate drives out there with a 5 year warranty. It's work the look, as Seagate is exceptional at replacing drives quickly for their customers that have issues...
