Perfect for backups
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.In these days and ages where data can be ransomed ... it is great to have a cheap device that you can easily use to protect all your personal and valuable information. OF COURSE, PLEASE DISCONNECT THE DRIVE when you are done with the backups otherwise, it could ALSO be ransomed. Only keep it connected when you perform the backup ... or need to retrieve from it.

need clearer directions on storage and retrieval

I was able to store my information on the device, this did not seem to present a problem,(just took a long time). But now I'm just not sure what's going wrong as I can not retrieve the information. There were no written directions in the packaging to follow, not good! I'm having to research on line for directions and clarity in use of the unit. Therefore this review request may be too soon for an in-depth analysis.

Great Drive For The Price

Faster and more reliable that the WD versions. My only concern is as ext drives rise in capacity, it will get harder to find the 1tb drives. For important data, do not put all your eggs in one basket. Alternate drives, and back up frequently.
