I needed more space in my laptop but i did not have the money to buy a new laptop so I got a Seagate External Hard Drive 5T. Best deal i ever did love it and will always buy SEAGATE affordable and dependable

This is my second Seagate 5 gb Backup drive that I have purchased. The first worked with my iMac flawlessly to store all of my photos, graphics, music and videos. I purchased the second drive to backup the first one so that I will not lose any data if one fails. I could not be happy with my decision to use these drives. (Backup my documents too)

For the price, you can't go wrong for this 5 TB external. It may not be the fastest, but it is definitely not the slowest. I have mine plugged in and running most of the time. I never really find any lag issues while using files from the drive. Only when I first open the folders after some time of not using it, but this only lasts a few seconds.

i have several external hard drives and most recently have been using one of Seagate's Personal Cloud which can utilize apps such as Plex a media server. When you are dealing with large media files you can begin to run out of storage space fairly quickly which is why I decided to go with this new Seagate external drive. The personal Cloud came with 3 Terabytes so adding an additional 5 terabytes was a welcome addition. There was really no setup involved other than plugging in the power and USB connector and then transferring my files. Seagate has been reliable thus far and a situation with another Seagate Drive has brought me good experiences with their customer service. If you need extra storage you need to look at this solution.

Plenty of space. Great deal. Works as expected. Very happy.

Great hard drive so far. No problems. Haven't used the auto-backup software that came with it because I'm using it with Linux systems. If you intend to format the whole thing from scratch to a new file system (e.g., ext4), it'll take forever -- not because the drive is slow, but because 5 TB is huge -- best to just do a quick format.

Being used as an extension for an Xbox one. Works great, no problems or complains so far.

This drive was reasonably priced and has performed well.

lots of space and a good deal for the price but will not format in FAT 32 with anything under 128kb clusters.

Using for additional space on our Xbox One, east install, nothing to complain about... Best Buy web site does say USB powered but that is incorrect, needs an available power source, normal 120v AC plug in included.

I use this to store all my movies and tv shows, I have one full and needed another, it has been fantastic, it is usb 3 fast, I have an SSD drive and the two of them have transfer speeds of 100 mb and greater, the first is 4 years old and still working great

What more can you say....it's a ton of storage at a great price. I'm using it for my Xbox One and couldn't be happier. Plugged it in to my Xbox right out of the box. My Xbox detected it and immediately asked if I wanted to use it for storage or media. Chose storage and it formatted. Was ready after that. Now I can store and install tons of Xbox one games without have to delete stuff I rarely play anymore. IF I ever run out of storage on this one, I'd buy another but I can tell I won't be running out of room anytime soon. I've got several digital download games on there now including Infinite Warfare and the MW Remaster and several others and haven't even used 5% of my storage yet. Great buy.

This is my third Seagate External backup drive. I've had good luck with the two previous, 500 GB and 1 TB. Both have been reliable and fast. The 1 TB has been making some clicking noises, which I suspect is because it is older. So, I upgraded to the 5 TB when it was on sale. A good investment for data backup and system image backup.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase of this external drive. It is serving it's purpose as a backup destination for a small home network. It is attached to an ASUS router, set up as a low cost NAS, to back up three computers on a weekly basis. So far so good. It's only been in use for a week so it's hard to say how it will do as far as longevity. This is my biggest concern, as with any mechanical drive. Only time will tell. The drive is fast and seems to perform well, which is expected for a USB 3.0 drive. The build quality is very good. It seems solid, and I like the design. It doesn't seem to get too hot. I've had some problems with Seagate's internal drives in the past, but hopefully this drive will last.
