By having two of these plugged in at the same time to transfer data. The computer froze on it, and crashed the drive. I didn't even have that much stuff on it.

The first one died soon after transferring everything over so thankfuly nothing was lost. I hope the next one will live up to the other ratings given here. Best Buy was quick to exchange.

This expensive hard drive worked for one backup. After a few days it went into an endless loop of various errors.

Drive no longer functions, caused loss of 3TB of data, 212GB non-recoverable. Only lasted three weeks.

First time buying Seagate. Dead on arrival. Returned and bought the 10TB Western Digital.

The drive is loud sounds like a percolator coffee pot while writing. I thought the drive would be faster, also have a 4 TB portable drive that is a lot faster and much quieter. The best ting about the drive is the large amount of storage.

As the photo collection, music, and movies ripped from disc keeps growing, this drive can handle it all (for now) The BEST addition over the old backup plus series is the USB hub and ports in the front of the drive cae.

It's great for used on Xbox One alot of room to download and installed.

I own now like 3 of this same HDs they work very well

Warning do not put this on the floor or hard drive will fail in couple years needs be on a desk for example also this will hold a a lot of files that u need to save

I needed the large capacity to store large video files. I work on both Windows and Mac computers so the ability to easily switch between the two machines is indispensable. I only wish that the read speed was a little faster.

Purchased this as a second backup for files and things. Setup was easy, but the hard drive was loud. I could feel the desk rumble every few seconds as it worked. The next morning after using it one day, it made a clunking sound and stopped. Spent an hour on the phone with support and decided to take it back. Ended up going with WD, always had great results from them.

I returned this drive because of these reasons: 1. One of my HDD never showed up on the toolkit. This issue was problematic because it wouldn't be backed up. Seagate tech support moved me up to level two support and said they'd call the next day. I never got the call. I called back two other times; I never could get through to anyone. I told the first tech support guy that I thought I knew what the problem was, but I didn't want to spend 30 $ when his program should detect the drive. So I ended up spending the money and fixed it myself. 2. The toolkit now doesn't even connect to the drive. The toolkit does not see the backup. I've tried many things to try to fix it. My files are not being backed up!!!! I need these files safe. I do not want to contact Seagates foreign tech support. Not that I have any problems with foreign people, but their English wasn't that great. 3. Now I'm risking the security of the files originally on the drive by returning the backup drive. I only completed a disk format. I don't have time to spend at least 10 hours on a full wipe and rewrite to erase all the data completely. Nor am I paying more money on a program to completely erase my drive. Also in the past, Seagate has had lawsuits because of a high number of drive failure rate. I am never buying anything Seagate ever again.

Before I begin, please be aware I have gone through 4 of these drives. All from Bestbuy, and all failed. Each drive was run with Seagate's own HDD utility. The first drive was the only one to pass the testing on the utility, but failed only a week after. (had only 200 GBs of data written (PC back Up, and misc files) only to fail and not be recognized on startup. All 3 other drives also failed, and when attempting to write the system back up files, would either error, or fail and begin clicking. I swapped the 4th drive for a WD MyBook 8TB and currently have filled over 3TB of Data on it, and all seems fine, loads when powered on, and accesses files quckly. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS DRIVE, AND URGE EVERYONE THAT PURCHASES IT TO PLEASE RUN A LONG TEST BEFORE ADDING ANY OF YOUR PRECIOUS DATA TO IT!!!

I bought 2 of these. 1 for data the other was for my back-up. These are noisy drives but I thought they would last for longer than then they did. Thank god I had the data backed-up because the main drive died.

Well it was working great up to the 2nd week. Now I am getting drive errors like crazy, bad sectors. Will be returning this as soon as I get a replacement drive to let Linux(which is the only way to mount it now) move my files off to a new drive. Very disappointed.
