Bought this to back up my mac... Plenty of space and then some... Nice to have extra USB ports on this storage...

This drive works great. Good price. Even like the extra USB ports on the front. Great for extra storage.

This is a SMR drive for archiving photos, videos, and personal files that does not require much modification. If you store it in a cool place and allow ample air flow around the device, and turn it off while not using it. It will last a good amount of time. I have this type of drives ranging from 3TB to 8TB that goes as far back as 2012. They meets the expectation for a external storage. Just do not expect you can run any applications on it.

I have quite a few very important legal documents on my MacBook Pro that I can’t live without. Divorce and parenting time case. Wanted and needed backup Incase of Mac failure.

I received the Backup Plus Hub 8TB External USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive and there was no software disc with it. Went online in accordance with the file folder instructions and could NOT get the Seagate Toolkit.exe to work properly. I kept coming back with "Slow or no Internet" and would not install, even after repeated attempts. I called the Seagate help line and the person there was no help whatsoever, suggesting it was a problem with my computer or internet (neither of which had a problem running ANY other exe file or software)! Then they suggested that the problem was my using Firefox, so I switched to Google Chrome; NO difference. Then had me switch to Explorer. NO difference. Then they suggested the Seagate website must be having problems.....and check back the next day. I had tried for three previous days to get the Toolkit.exe to work and I had already downloaded the exe file to my computer, so it had nothing to do with their website! I finally downloaded the Seagate Dashboard 2.0 instead and that worked without a problem! Bottom line: If you have issues with Toolkit.exe, just use Dashboard instead and save yourself days of aggravation. The external hard drive is not a problem, just the Toolkit.exe and support people that have no clue.

Got this almost a year back so that I can use it as a backup or second drive to store all heavy stuff of photos/videos which I use now and then. It is compatible with both Mac and windows which is a plus.

I get a good promotion for this External HD on Black Friday. Seagate HDs had a bad phase few years ago, with problematic products, but reviews showed that the 8TB HDs are much more reliable than past generations. Until now HD works fine. Pretty fast even on USD 2.0. The USB hub didn't work as a real hub, connecting devices to the computer. But it's a nice add over the table to charge your cellphone and other devices. Guarantee keeps me a little bit nervous, it's just 1 year but let's see.

It does what it's advertised to do. It stores a lot of data in one place. My only complaint is it squeaks every time it initializes which makes me feel like it might fail at some point in the future. that is a scary thought because when you buy an 8tb drive you end up storing a lot of back up stuff there that would be lost if the drive failed. i also have a 4tb seagate drive and it squeaks also.

I was looking for a larger storage and something that was compact that didnt take to much room.

The external hard drive is ready to go right outside of the box. Easy to use and great capacity!

8TB of space which is very nice. It is also looks great on the desk and is not really that loud.
