Purchased this drive in December as external backup for new computer, used it successfully for a few backups, and had it fail spectacularly in January for no obvious reason. Have had good luck with previous Seagate drives, but I would not trust this model again and would not recommend to anyone.

I bought two Seagate backup drives for my server. One of them quit working after backing up my server 3 times. It cannot even be reformatted. Dead drive. Went to Best Buy and they could not help me. I had to go back to my old Toshiba's I was replacing. I will avoid Seagate products from now on.

Wish I hadn't spent money on this and had just let my computer consultant transfer PC files. Geek Squad is not helpful - hard to reach and expensive. Although I didn't want to learn a new operating system, I would have been better off with an Apple product b/c their customer service is wonderful.

I purchased this harddrive in hopes I could backup my ps4, but the hardrive would not work for that at all. In addition, i tried using it for my Mac computer, to no avail. It also would not work for my windows computer. I would advise against this one. Go for the passport.

After multiple attempts and several support tickets, was unable to get WiFi Smartphone Backup to work. The process would start fine then fail within a few minutes. Tech Support and escalated support were unable to resolve so Im returning the drive today!

I have older Seagate external drives that have been reliable for years but this particular model failed within two months of use. I would recommend looking into different manufacturers if you need the security of a backup drive.

This item is difficult to use as just a plugin. During set up, I had to have access to the internet. It was not easy accessing my files once they were backed up. I returned this and I'm looking for something easier.

Have had less than a month- quit working ALL my hours of work on this. Geek squad no help. Called segate only got voice message. So upset! $ time work GONE & NO HELP! Have used product before and liked. So disappointed

Backup was extremely slow. Took over 18 hours to back up just over 300GB of files on my laptop. My Western Digital takes about 15 minutes on the same computer.

The product failed to install properly. Support technicians failed to correct the problem. I discovered that the product was at least a year old. I replaced it with another brand which works as expected.

This product is worthless, didn't have it 1 week and it died. I had a bunch of photos and videos on it, and now I have to figure out how to retrieve it. Buy Lacie instead.

Nope, never. Got it and it would never work - and this is the first time I did not get a warranty on a new product. The recommendation came from one of the techs. Never happen

Had to go through a lengthy driver download and the thing would not work. Caused my other drives to stop working. Tried several times. Same result. Returning it. Bad or very user unfriendly.

I have had this drive for less than 9 months. Only used it about a dozen times and it has already died. No more portable SSD's. Mechanical only from here on out.

This is my first time using a product like this. I had tons of family pictures that I wanted to back up in case my computer crashed. I wasn't sure what to expect but I love it. It's small and thin, one wire goes from device to your USB. You just plug it in and the drive pops up on the computer, you click on a file and drag it to the drive and it copies. Simple as that. No software to download etc. 1TB is a ton of space so I will gets lots of use out of it. Honestly, anyone can figure it out no matter how tech savy you are. I highly recommend.

I have tried seagate twice, hard drive did not last long, did not even last for 6months. I used my hard drive everyday and this brand did not hold up.

Drive worked great. I attached it to my xbox for additional storage. Not only did it add alot more space for games and add-ons, but it also increased loading speeds in games (I was able to load into maps in battlefield 1 faster, which allowed me to get certain vehicles faster.) But all games benefited from the faster load speed through usb3.0

Bought to backup my computer- I do not have a lot loaded on this computer- it took 32 hours to complete back up while plugged into the fast speed USB port

Print/online instructions useless, didn''t work and I plan to return. Never properly installed or backed up laptop. Very disappointed with level of support received.
