I have bought this hard drive to replace my almost 5 year old external hard drive. This drive exceeds my expectations and dependable product that I have used.

It is a very well design tool, fast and ease to work on it.

Plugged into my Windows 10 Pro MSI laptop and it was available to start writing to in 10 seconds. Didn't need a Seagate dashboard, driver updates or anything other than plugging it in. To the reviews exclaiming otherwise, it's simply a PEBCAK scenario. Keep your machines tidy and up to date and this product will work flawlessly.

I only but Seagate and Toshiba drives these days. They are well built and tend to last longer then soem other brands.

This backup works great. setup was super easy. replace a WD passport that burnt out very quickly.

I bought this to do what I thought would be a simple backup of my hard drive's Outlook emails. Installation was easy - you just plug it in. Then the frustration began. I did a backup, then tried to find my emails on the Seagate. Not there. Or maybe they are, but I can't find them. The Seagate Help service? It connects you to the Microsoft website, which is notoriously unhelpful and in any event not designed for Seagate products. I know I'm looking for a ".pst" file but I can't find it on the Seagate. Ugh. If only the genius engineers who design this stuff could get out of their bubbles and figure out how to communicate to us mere mortals.

Below please find the response from Seagate Support re: a backup Seagate product I purchased from Best Buy: Dear Rick XXX Thank you for contacting Seagate Support. I understand that you are having an issue with the Seagate Dashboard with Memeo Instant Backup software after upgrading to Windows 10. Unfortunately, the Seagate Dashboard is not compatible with Windows 10 and there will not be a software update. The steps to uninstall the software are: 1. Open the Control Panel and select Programs and Features and then Uninstall a Program. 2. Select Seagate Dashboard and Memeo from the list of programs and click on Uninstall. 3. Please reboot the computer after the software has uninstalled. You will be able to access all of the data on the external drive through Windows Explorer and use copy and paste to transfer the data to the computer. To run a backup to the external drive, I would recommend using Windows backup utility called File History. This is an excellent portable hard drive to have when your laptop is low on memory.

Great external hard drive for the price! Very slim and sleek as well.

I found myself in need of another external drive since my several year old SSD decided to give up the ghost (without displaying loss of the magic smoke). This unit is very reasonably priced, works well and synchs up with both my Win7 and Win 10 laptops.

Works as its supposed to with only a tiny step before you ready to go as a mac user. You need what amounts to a plug in (which is made easy to get in the start up of product). But my recommendation is if you are planning on dedicating this as a music and video HD is to just use disk utility and format as EXFAT, which allows playback on devices such as PS4.

Very good hdd for a price, helps me to back up all the important files.

I decided to do an in store pick up and the process went very well. Gave them my name and ID and they have the product for me. Works great and the setup was not too bad. It is set up as a permanent backup for the computer. Works great!

With my laptop getting up there in years I wanted to make sure everything was backed up in case something happened. The Seagate was easy to use whether you're backing up EVERYTHING on your laptop or just pulling over certain files.

Got it on sale primarily for Itunes back-up. No complaints as of yet.
