Decided it was critical for me to backup my photos and some documents so I purchased Seagaet Backup Plus Slim. Very pleased with my purchase.

I have had this hard drive for a couple months. It has performed flawlessly as a backup drive. It sits on the desk and does its job without issue.

I'm a photographer and use this to put all my photos on so I always have them as reference or if a customer wants to order extras.

Just like the WD portable drive for nor reason this drive suddenly failed seems portable as a category are not worth purchase as they have a near 100% failure rate and even before that the working are very spotty in future I will stick to the plugin drive and just carry a bigger bag. best advice on external drive buy several and back up everything in triplicate as all external drive fail over the course of time but portables like this one are totally unreliable

I always buy drives from seagate and never had any problem. I just have to say that the cable isn´t too strong and stay a little bend. I´m a bit afraid to brake the connector sooner.

While it worked, it was very good. However, mine fried out pretty soon after purchase. The warranty covered it, but just giving a heads up

I bought this as a back up drive and as a way to transfer files from one computer to another. I have spent hours trying to transfer files. I have watched all the tutorials. I simply cannot get it to work. I get to the final stage, and the drive just locks up. Nothing happens. I want to return it, but i have a full backup of my old computer on it. I have deleted it, but I don't think that's enough. I doubt that Best Buy will give me my money back after i smash it with a sledge hammer, but I'm going to find out.

I backup with time machine and have a peace of mind knowing that my computer is backed up.

When I first purchased the drive, it was to supplement a WD 3TB drive that had backup software that didn't work very well. The Seagate drive seemed to work much better...until now. I had configured the backup process according to the instructions, and all seemed to work fine. Knowing that 3TB was much more than I needed for all my documents, I had also created a photo back up folder that I manually used to save copies of my pictures. All that seemed to work fine until I checked today. The software had apparently stopped backing things up because the drive was FULL! No notification, no warning, no indication that there was a problem THREE WEEKS ago. If I hadn't gone in to look at it, I still wouldn't know that my recent files weren't being backed up. :-( So I looked into deleting the older duplicate files, but I can't find any way to reduce the size of the back up folders. All the directories the software created are labeled as incremental, so I can't just delete the older ones. The documentation says that multiple copies of any changed files are kept, but I can't find where they are. The only files that seem to be backed up are new ones, but there are a lot of folders created where SOME files could be saved, but they are empty by the time I get to the bottom of the chain. Sorry, but I now can't recommend this product. It appears that I will have to delete the backup plan, along with all the files that it saved for me, and recreate a new plan that will start the same process all over again.

I really needed something to back up all my files/pictures in case something were to happen and I would lose everything. So a good thing to have for insurance.

I was looking for a drive that would let me share files between Mac and pc. This is perfect

I shopped around looking for a reliable backup. I bought Seagate based on past reputation. Plugged in transferred 12 years of family photos (around 25,000) and stored in a nice cool and dry location. A few months later the drive no longer has access. Just making clicking noise. Sure I can send it back for a new drive and lose my data. Now my only option is to have a tech crack it open and recover my photos for more than I want to pay. Thanks Seagate. great product

An easy, fast reliable solution for a fast backup as needed. Solid brand, decent price (although cheaper online), and does exactly what I needed.

had to reformat the drive to work with my mac but it works just as it should

Seagate is a make that does not require reviews, anyway I may say that this is very fast and we can back up our laptops in minutes
