This drive works fairly well for drag and drop backups and data exchange. The software that is included (Seagate Dashboard Agent) is horrible. When set to continuous backup, this software was extremely erratic, backups would stall without notification, etc. Downloaded updates from Seagate regularly hoping that would solve the problem but it didn't. In some cases I would log on to the dashboard software and see that my backup stalled a week ago and never re-started. Good thing I didn't have a drive failure on my PC. This thing is in the trash, I'm switching to a different manufacturer.

This hard rive is a must to back up all your info.

The clock radio works well. We like the fact we can play our CD's. Setting the time is a challenge.

I picked this item up today as a device to store my German Soaps on. I got it home out of the box and it never showed up as a usable drive. It never initiated the auto play function. It popped up in my camera and printers area. I was never able to access it or store anything on it. So I went to Seagate, they made me register it which I did. The software to install it was on their page and it didn't work. The dashboard application told me I could not use it because I didn't have a second Seagate drive. So I installed a paragon application for windows from the site. Did a restart and it just looped, restarting over and over. So now I'm reformatting, all my music, videos, games, documents, all gone. This trash is going right back to best buy tomorrow.

For all the programming my grandson will do, this backup will help him in the future.

Fast enough for those with 3.0 capability on their devices. No reason to not like it.

After spending hours trying to get this to recognize on my windows 10 PC, im giving up and returning it to Best Buy. i googled to no end for similar issues, followed the directions, downloaded the drivers, and dashboards, and still it will not show up for me to open the window and transfer files onto it. all i wanted was an external hard drive to save files, and instead got another thing to stress over and waste my time trying to get to work...as a new mom, i dont have time for this mess...if you pay the money for something, especially as simple as this, you should be able to plug it in and it works. very disappointed, and i plan on trying a different brand.if windows 10 is the problem, seagate should update their product.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I wanted to, to warn others. Don’t buy Seagate hard drive. Their hard drives are built with cheap parts that’s unreliable. I bought one in March of 2017 and it already failed. My PS4 hard drive last longer.

I got this drive less than 2 months ago and it's already failed. Called customer support, the price to recover the data is $599.

Does Not Work on PS4 as described, now I have to retrieve all I gave for Xmas and exchange them for ones that do.

My PC computer won't recognize the device. Tried multiple other devices as well but no luck. Will be returning!

despite one of the answers to a question being that it works for MAC OS 10.6 or greater, in order to work as claimed (being able to share data between MAC and Windows) you need at least MAC OS 10.9. With my MAC OS 10.6.8, I reformatted it which enabled me to use it to store data, but I can not share that data with a windows system.

Please do not buy. I was able to store my files on this device, but I was unable to encrypt the drive. An employee stated that I could encrypt, but I never had an option to do so. Once I backed up my system, I pulled the drive. I unfortunately dropped the backup device, maybe half of a foot from the ground is how far the drop was... not too high at all. My PC was unable to recognize the drive. I downloaded software called "Paragon" from the manufacturing company's website. Well, this software just made everything worse. I was unable to boot my PC!! Awesome! I was left with a useless PC and a useless external hard drive that still contained my files... wow!

I was sold this backup drive when I purchased my MAC computer from our local Best Buy store. I was ASSURED by the Best Buy sales associate, numerous times, that this would work with MAC. I have owned the device for almost a year and have tried several times to use it to no avail. Due to lack of time I have not made it into our local mall and just this morning did some research on the Seagate website. They clearly state that this device is NOT compatible with iOS or Mac although the box states "Easy backup for PC, Mac and mobile devices". I now have a $60 paper weight that I am hopeful Best Buy will do the right thing and allow me to return. Beware!

I bought it because I have an older Mac running OS 10.9. I bought this because the specs say 10.9 or higher. I tried to install the software to use it but it didn't work. Looked on the side of the package and it says compatible with 10.10 or higher. Thanks for the misleading spec information, Best Buy. So I can't trust any of Best Buy's other spec info so I'll be looking around elsewhere for a hard drive.
