    Failed In 10 Months

I purchased this drive on 5/18/2018. On 3/31/2019 the drive has stopped functioning. I'm getting the death beep upon plugging into any computer and the drive does not show up as being connected. Tested the power cord on another portable drive and it's fine so it's clearly the drive failing. Glad I take my own advice and backup even the backup drives. I'll get a replacement but won't be buying another Seagate portable. I have three desktop Seagates one which is 11 years old. They are all still chugging along with no errors or problems so I thought the portable drive would hold up well...NOT!!!

Didn't work had to take it back

I needed an Xbox one external hard drive and caught this one on sale for 79.99. When I got home I plugged it onto my Xbox one and it wouldn't recognize it. I tried plugging it into my laptop and guess what, it recognized it. I tried numerous times trying to get the Xbox to recognize it but it just wouldn't. Finally I tried it again and the little light on the front wouldn't even come on anymore. Maybe I had a defective unit. Nothing like a first impression. So I took it back the same day and exchanged it for a WD 2tb passport for 8 bucks more. Got home, plugged it into my Xbox and walla it recognized it right away. Stay away from this one. Go with the WD 2tb, you won't regret it.

The one I bought was broken. I could hear funny noise from it and non of my computers was able to recognize the hard drive. Exchanged it for a WD.

Had device for just 2 years. Rarely used it. Plugged it in and it started beeping and none of the computers would recognize it. Called Seagate to no avail. Not worth your money and not worthy of storing your information on. Can break without warning and without reason, and no one will help. One frail device. Buyer Beware!

Got the disk on May 2017and It failed by July 2017. Lost all data in it. But sent to Seagate for warranty replacement and got a factory reset one. Have given two stars only for that.

I bought the 1.5TB just over a year ago. I made the fatal mistake of backuping laptop and deleting the files on the laptop. This drive became undetectable. This is an obvious issue. The company now wants to charge me to restore the data and I need to pre-pay to return it! The same thing happened my seagate freeagent desktop unit. NEVER buy SEAGATE again!!

Just got email saying seagate recovery center team were not able to recover data on my hard drive, I bought it less then 3 months ago! I lost all pictures, videos and data. There is no price for all lost information. Never buy seagate, I had 2 years warranty which is bs because they not gonna recover your data anyways !

    Died While on Warranty

I bought 5 of these. The newest one died. Not returned yet because I'm still trying to recover my data. The 2nd to last one I bought works well in a 2.0 usb plug but in the 3.0 it shuts off and on constantly. I don't think as highly of Seagate as I once did.

I went into best busy and asked for a backup hard drive that will work with my new iMac. They told me this was the best one. I got home and hooked it up and it said it was not compatible with an iMac.

Not truly compatible with Mac’s. Unless you want to spend a chunk of your life reformatting the thing.
