First time purchasing an external hard drive. I've been please thus far!

Still has not used the product but was highly recommended

Good backup drive to back up all of my computer files

Bought this hard disk for a backup drive of my macbook. Works great. No problem so far. Small in size, fast in data transfer, easy to use. Highly recommended as a backup device

I bought this back when I went to college in 2016, in fact I bought two of them. I had purchased a MacBook Pro for myself, and a MacBook Air 13 for my cousin as her graduation present. I had been working since I was 16 and by this time I had save a large amount of money for items for college, and my cousin wasn't as well off, but was incredibly smart, and managed to get a full ride to the same college as I, and knowing her parents weren't in a position to provide her with the most reliable tech, I decided to bestow a HUGE series of gifts for her. Ultimately, we still use these backups to this day, and they have NEVER skipped a beat. Granted I have since moved onto bigger and better things for my main backups and such, but I still use this for keeping photos and valuables that I don't access often

When we plugged this hard drive into our new iMac, nothing happened. After several attempts to install special software to let the iMac see this Seagate drive we still had no luck. There are lots of reviews out there that other users were having the same trouble. Rather than fight the drive for any more hours we just returned it to the store.

The drive crapped out after it had a small fall from the top of the desktop tower to the floor. This was after only 2 years. This is the last seagate product i will buy. Why make BACKUP devices so lame- so they can sell you $$$$ Recovery services. Do you self a favor and spend the extra money on a rugged device.

I've had nothing but problems with this portable hard drive. I ended up having to take it back to Best Buy [a 60 mile round trip] to see if I was doing something wrong. Nope--the technician couldn't get it to work either. So, now I get to spend a Saturday morning returning it to the company since Best Buy doesn't take returns.

The very first time I used the product I had an issue with it. I had to run a test on their website and it said that it was malfunctioning to just send it back. It's to much of a hassle to send it back and I'm scare to back up anything on that product anyways. I wish I could just get my money back.

The product didn't even work, and now I am out of $65 and a hard drive. This is a waste of time and money and the warranty doesn't even work.

I have now had three Seagate external hard drives fail prematurely (less than 12 months). Seagate is not an easy company to deal with on warranty failures, and I would strongly recommend WD products which have been far more reliable !! Such a pain, and loss of data.

I bought the wrong one to use for a PlayStation 4. It said that it could be converted to work so when I was told I could not return it, I thought that would be ok. But it won't convert to be used so my $60 product will have to be donated.

Had this as my backup for time machine on my Mac. It eventually wouldn’t “mount” properly (technical term) and it couldn’t be reformatted despite using disk repair & trying all suggested manners.

I bought this to back up my MacBook, and now I can't access the profiles copied from my computer. It works if I just copy and paste files, which defeats the purpose of why I bought this drive.

Ok so I had this drive less than a year and I lost all of my photo files after it spontaneously crashed. As a photographer, this killed me. They wanted 500 dollars to retrieve my files.

It only lasted four months. I just died a screaming death of beeping noises while I was working. Hope it can be recovered or I'm up a creek. Never buying seagate again.

great, easy to use, portable, compact, fast, reliable

Ordered online, received on day promised. No owners manual came with the unit, but none was needed. I just plugged the provided USB3 cable into my iMac, it immediately showed on my desktop and I was ready to go. I backed up my iMac using Time Machine. The unit is very small, very light and very easy to use. Not bad for 60 bucks.

i tried 4 computers (2 macs and 2 pcs), nothing would recognize this drive. Seagate customer service offered no help

The drive failed in less than three years. Now I have to replace it again.
