Needed a backup for all of my pictures and videos on my macbook. I really like this product. Easy to use, inexpensive compared to others I looked at and portable.

I have had this hard drive for 2 months with no issues. The *only* negative I have is with the backup process; and to be fair, this is an issue with Macs, NOT with the Seagate product. On a PC, the hard drive comes with software that allows you to select the folders you want to back up and the times you'd like to run a backup. On a Mac, if you don't want to use TimeMachine (which creates an encrypted backup of your WHOLE computer), you're left dragging and dropping. I only want to back up my photos, so this isn't ideal. But it's doable, and not too much of a hassle.

This hard drive is one of the best that I have used. It works great every time I plug it into my laptop.

It works great. Been using it for about three or four months and have had no issues. Set up was easy and back up is easy.

This drive appeared to have everything I wanted for a supplemental drive on my iMac. The Dashboard features make backups easy ... for a PC. But for Mac, it assumes you only want this drive for Time Machine. I already have a drive for Time Machine. What Dashboard functionality is left was not useful. Also, part of the instructions implied the need to re-format the drive for use with Mac. I'm not sure this was necessary, but it was confusing. And finally, I don't know if it was just a Java thing, but I had trouble using parts of the Seagate support web page with Safari. All in all, for me it just wasn't "for Mac". I would have rated it lower, but for use with Time Machine, it might be just fine. I'll never know, as I took the drive back.

I couldn't use it for what I brought it for but it seems to do alright storing stuff in it.

I already had a couple of the Western Digital ext HDDs before I purchased this Seagate HDD. The Seagate blows them away! It just looks and feels like it has a sturdier build. Performance was better than the WD drives. I wish I had purchased this product earlier.

HD does not work on Mac Snow Leopard so I upgraded my machine to El Capitan and the computer still does not recognize the HD. Seagate Dashboard utility does not recognize the HD. Customer support did not respond to my online support request. After waiting for 3 days for someone to contact me, I called Seagate directly and all they asked me to check if the computer recognized the drive in disk utility. When the HD was not recognized, they said there was nothing else they could do for me. I also tried plugging the HD in a Windows machine, as per the recommendation from the customer service rep, and it also did not recognize the HD. What a waste of time and money.

Very good product to use with the ease of simplicity

This was a life saver. We thought the Mac got destroyed by an electrical storm. It was a lot less pressure knowing that we had a copy that was safe and secure.
