The Seagate expansion hard drive came with no instructions and was extremely awkward to use with my MAC. And I tried to return it to Best Buy, but they cut short the return period. Blah to both Seagate and Best Buy. Should have used Amazon!

Plugged it in and it starting humming and wasn’t recognized by my PC. Could access it. Unplugged and tried again. Same result. Will be returning.

Not bad for the cost/capacity ratio but noticeably slow compared to a SSD.

Plugged it in and it works with no problems. The transfer speed leaves a little to be desired, but nothing crazy.

Overall, I'm satisfied with this portable hard drive. It's actually smaller than I expected, barely as big as a typical smartphone! In hindsight, I think I should have gone with a larger storage size, but I can always buy another. I bought this portable HD for storing a digital movie collection and backing up files from my desktop PC. So far, it works as intended, but I've had an issue with my PC not being able to read the file properties from my movie collection. When I attempted to view the collection in the Movies & TV app in WIndows 10, sometimes the length of the movies and thumbnails would not display. I thought the cause of this problem was due to the portable HD being formatted in the exfat file system. So, I reformatted it to NTFS to match my PC, which seems to have resolved the issue. It was also originally formatted with 128k allocation unit, which is fine for very large files like movies and music, but it actually causes smaller files like PDFs, photos and office documents to be much larger in size. I recommend reformatting depending on your needs. I've only had it for about a month, so I cannot comment on long-term reliability. However, I have an older desktop Seagate external HD that is nearly 15 years old and still working, so I know they make quality products.
