Died after less than 2 years of light use
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this unit for less than 2 years, have minimally use it as storage for my PS4, which I only play a few times every month or two. Received in April 2020 and, by December 2021, it had ceased to work. Less than 2 years life span for a hard drive is ridiculous.

WRONG PRODUCT LISTED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drive through Best Buy's website and when I opened the package it was Seagate's older model. I checked their website and they have pictures of the newer Seagate 4TB drive (STEB4000100) but are actually selling the older discontinued model. When I called to return the item I received attitude from their rep and was told that they would report the issue. After calling them again a month later, I got the same song and dance that they would report the issue. It's going on 2 months of this so I decided to write this review to warn others that they won't receive the drive pictured.

not bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this product 5 stars, except for the fact that my drive DIED after only 4 months. Warranty replacement was extremely simple, however, and Seagate had a new working hard drive back to me within a week. I am giving 4 stars for their very quick service and am hoping I just had bad luck with the first unit. Other positive reviews would suggest that is the case. The drive is not very compact, it is pretty bulky, and it does require external power source. I keep mine standing vertically on my desk (as pictured in the product image) which takes up less space.

Dont buy Seagate drivers.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this and later i wanted to change sleep time when the drive is idle. Cant do it because Seagate Drive Setting requires Windows XP, Vista or 7 while i am using Windows 10. No kidding a tech company want you to use out of date OS like XP and Vista to use its softwares.

Doesn't last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially, the drive worked very well. However, in less than 1 1/2 years, the drive failed. I looked into recovering the information on the drive and it was going to cost $650. If I had spent $30 on a protection plan, I wouldn't have to pay $650 but I didn't know. Anyway, it's back to Western Digital drives for me.
