Drive was clicking loudly from the first point of install - much louder than any laptop drive I've ever used, even making squeaking noises. Was also very slow to load the OS and apps. It failed completely after 2 days - I didn't even have everything fully installed on it! Connecting it to another laptop yielded the same results, and putting it in a USB enclosure didn't work either. So it seems to me it's totally useless. This is pretty surprising as I've used many Seagate / Maxtor products in the past with great results. This one is just a dud.

it's kinda slow but if your not into speed then this will do just fine but for me it kinda slowed down my laptop compared to the manufacturers hard drive that was in there I give it 2 thumbs down.

My laptop is 2 yrs old. This is the 2nd time I've brought it in for repair since the first of Jan. 1st time the said the hard drive needed replacing and I had to pay to have info transferred over. They ignored the fact that it wouldn't wake up when opened. 2nd time in they said they reset it and it would wake up fine. Got home and have the same problem. Getting back is a problem as I'm caring for someone recovering from major surgery. Shut down then turn start up again every time I use it. Not a happy camper !

My history with se agate drives is a long one. They used to make great drives,but every since the bought the Maxtor brand you will be lucky to get 1 year out of them before they fail.

this is a good product but Solid Drive is becoming more popular and cheaper now, if you have a chance buy a solid drive instead, it is faster.

I got this product with recommendations from the Geeks...and now sounds like trouble is brewing.

Nothing special. Just a basic hard drive. Geek Squad installed one in my laptop in error.

This is the slowest and most problematic hard drive i have ever experienced. Instulation of windows 8.1 was a nightmare. The drivers would continue to fail their installs along with windows crashing multiple times. The read and write speed i got from this hard drive was slower than using a standard usb stick with a otg cable to transfer a 4k movie file over usb 2.0. I've never experienced such a horrendous hard drive before in my life. complete waste of money and only 500GB. the Toshiba 1TB I was using for years, used maybe close to 20 or so of them, were always fast at writing and reading and never gave me a problem with installing windows or any drivers from windows vista to windows 10. They stopped carrying them at best buy so i tried this drive and i made a huge mistake. Never again will i buy a segate hard drive, SSD, or hybrid drive.

I bought it because it was cheap but the capacity is low and it is slow.

this is a low end hard drive, great cost but not a performer.

Just recently my HP laptop computer crashed & had to have a new hard drive installed by the Geek Squad. I am not happy with the speed since this Seagate Hard Drive has been installed. Very slow @ start up.

Only used it for two weeks and computer is not functioning

Great product, I learnt the hard way. Now i backup all my files and all my computers with Seagate hard drives.

defective harddrive and getting data from old HD has been a chore

This piece of junk died 31 days after installation! That works out to about $2 per day for the privilege of using the product. Needless to say, I have replaced it with another brand and will be backing it up more often.

I'm not 1 for writing reviews, but I had ran out of space for my ps3 40GB hard drive. So when I bought this Seagate about 2 weeks or so I just had to explain how wonderful this hard drive has been for me. I purchased it mainly for my ps3. The install was really easy, but I also needed to purchase an external as well. Watched a couple of you tube videos on how to set it up & bammm instant easy set up. I haven't been having any problems since. I have so so much space for all my saves, games, etc. I really don't believe there isn't anything better than this hard drive right know because it meets all the ps3 standards your looking for in a hard drive and more. Hands down you need this product in your life definitely worth it.
