I had the 500gb version of this before and sold it so I could get this one and have more space. The app used with apple products is easy and the way you connect to it is simple also. A couple things one is that you can still connect to the Internet while connected wirelessly through this unit which is great for an iPad or iPhone in an airport or somewhere with wifi and you are multitasking. The only complaint I would have is compared to how small external portable drives have become this one is a little large. I had to find the right case to hold it and its cables and even when I did. It was a tight fit. Overall great product.

I like this drive, would like to love it but the one issue is the seagate app, not particularly user friendly. Still requires me to hook to laptop to move some files for use on iPad. Would like to function independent of computer.

Does what I purchased it for. It is good ton the go and in tight quarters not much set up necessary and I can expand the storage of my devices without purchasing something else.

It a a great way to store all the media that you don't want to store in the device, but you still want to keep with you. The app works great and it connects and streams quite fast. I was impress with that. However, the app configuration and file folder management can get a bit confusing. I wish they can simplify it more. Another great thing is the battery. I use the hard drive occasionally not all the time. So the battery will last pretty good all the time I wanted to used it after every three days and after weeks of not in use. Great device overall. I highly recommended.

Good Method of Boosting Tablet storage

I love the harddrive, it works great. The App on the other hand is pretty subpar. It is limited, doesn't allow to access folders but only media types. Also if you have a folder in a fold like for instance you have a folder titled "TV Show(Put whatever you want in there)" and a folder in it called "Season 1", it will not show the contents of that folder at all, it can only access one folder down. If they upped the App it would get a better review, also you have to work around in order to make it work on a Mac, it was a little hard but if you search their FAQ enough you can find the answer on how to format it and what files you need to add. Also there should be a warning or a suggested media player for it because it has very limited capabilities without the right player.

Having the ability to wirelessly access 1TB of files, music, and videos from my iPad Mini or iPhone.....Priceless! I loaded a bunch of TV shows, movies, etc on the Seagate - Wireless Plus and enjoyed videos on my iPad for a week while traveling for work. Setup was fairly easy, connect the usb connector to the hd to transfer files between my Macs and the hd, then download and install the Seagate iOS application to be able to connect to the hd and stream videos, music, and pictures from my iOS devices. Seagate also offers a free Android app, but I didn't test that.

Although the interface seems old, and the way you access your content from the dive is by using your Internet browser, it is still a good product. I use this drive when I travel for work, and want to watch my shows, movies, or listen to my music. It has good battery life. Like all tech stuff, if you think you need it now, then get it. You won't regret it. If you like this product, but can wait, then I would wait and get the next "cool" model.

The seagate has replaced the need for the dvd player add on for your car. One of our cars had a $1500 dvd in headrest add on. The other had a dvd player that skipped and was frustrating for our small child. You can put hundreds of movies on with the huge amount of storage space. When we fly, we use our iPad & iPhones so three kids age 17, 14, 6yr can each watch what they want and mom and dad can use a headphone splitter and watch a movie together. We love the Seagate so much, we have actually bought a device for our business also.

An External HD for your iPad!

This is one of the few external HD options available for use with iPads that allows transfering of images in both directions, save to and load from. Also allows multiple simultanious users, and streams video content to your device (although I haven't used that feature yet). Attaches to your PC for quick file transfer. Battery life seems good. Works with a dedicated app from Seagate or many third party iDevice file manager apps.

I lile the device because it's small and light. For the 1TB capacity, it is very conveniently sized. It is also fast and easy to use.

I thought this would be an easier more intuitive product to use. Marketed as a mobile accessory, but requires a computer to download content, does not sync iTunes wirelessly. Overall, disappointed with this purchase.

I bought this drive to use with my Android phone (A Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.2 Jelly Bean) to be able to carry a large amount of music files and play them on my phone while on the go. Sadly, I was quite disappointed with this drive's performance and after a week of trying to get it to work properly I decided to return it. The things I hated about it were the following: 1) An app is needed to access the data on the drive (yes, you can use it as a DLNA server with other apps, but that failed miserably to work in most cases). 2) The drive's Wi-Fi connection to my phone would periodically disconnect (several times per minute), making it virtually useless 3) In my case, I wanted to be able to carry a large amount of Apple Lossless encoded files and, the app used to access the drive does not support this format (the files are displayed, but they never play). Using other DLNA compliant apps to access the files always only showed a rather small portion of the music files on the drive and worked sporadically at best. 4) After failing to get the Apple lossless encoded files to work, I tried using the drive for MP3s and picture files, but the following issues happened with those: i. The Wi-Fi disconnects ...having the drive disconnect from my phone multiple times per minute made it impossible to enjoy music for any amount of time ii. Browsing for pictures in the drive is ridiculously cumbersome with the apps interface, which makes finding any picture an exercise in futility. After the struggles that I had (and after returning the drive), I even found that there the issues I found are known issues that Seagate seems to have had for several generations of their Wi-Fi drives. There is even a company that does custom firmware to solve the issues seen with Seagate's insanely poor firmware and app. You can search for this looking for "Hack Seagate Satellite" in Google. I won't post the URL for the company in case that is not allowed in a review, but you can read about it by doing that search. I recommend it highly that you check that out before you waste a week of your time like I deed with Seagate's ridiculously poor firmware and app.
