Customers are saying

They appreciate the superb sound quality, comfortable fit, affordable price, long battery life, and convenience of wireless connectivity. However, some customers have concerns about the volume not getting quiet enough, the bass not being good at higher sounds, the controls being confusing, the fit being a little tight, and the cups being small and uncomfortable.

These were ok, not great. I work in a very loud busy office and I was hoping these would drown out some of the noise. They worked ok, but for the price, I expected more. These might be better for a plane than an office.

I bought these to use at the gym. The sound quality was okay. But after a short while, they pressed on my ears and caused pain. I had to send them back.

For a bluetooth heaphone I expect much better functionality. Audio quality, as long it meets a minimum bar is not the issue. Very hard to even know how much charge is remaining. Defeats the purpose of using this as a travel/portable headphone. The user interface is a joke and the manual can be safely shredded. Am considering the same treatment for the headphone as well.

    Doesn't hold up to Sony

Got this after my Sony Xtrabass headphones died out. Even though I really liked by sony's, I felt like a change might be good, but I was totally wrong. The headband is very narrow and flimsy, not at all sturdy or comfortable like Sony's. Also found sound quality to be rather thin and lacking depth. Went with the Sony Xbass wireless instead, much better suited to my liking.

    Good sound, weird engineering

As most people say, the sound quality is very nice, especially considering the price. The Sennheiser HD 4.50 is very light weight and I find the pair to be generally comfortable. This is coming from someone with a very average sized head. The controls are easy to identify with the hand. The noise cancelling works well. I live close enough to a highway overpass that, though the noise isn't bad, it took a bit of getting used to. The HD4.50s completely cancels out the slight drone I can hear through my skylights. I suspect they'd do well on a plane or in a car. This Sennheiser paid replaces a pair of Hesh 3s which, while they performance excellently in every way, had very poor construction with the arms that hold the ear pieces breaking again and again. It's a known issue, so construction problems was one of the first things I looked for in HD 4.50 reviews and found nothing. Physically they feel solid. So, generally positive, even impressive with regard to the sound. But then, it just gets weird. I find myself scratching my head wondering what the engineers at Sennheiser were thinking. - #1 disappointment: cannot listen over BT while charging. My Hesh 3s, of exactly the same price point, had no problem with this. So, obviously this is not impossible to have. Why, why would they choose to configure it this way? Also, you cannot pair or connect while charging. This might be a deal breaker. I'm a software developer who sits in front of a screen, in the zone for hours. I just can't have a pair of headphones that become a brick when charging them. - With that said, you can use the audio cable while charging. In fact, if the battery is dead, you can use the audio cable like an unpowered headset. But, the sound quality over the wire is just terrible. It's flat, feeling like mono, verging on the feel of telephone bandwidth. Also, right out of the box the audio jack was faulty, losing the right channel whenever I moved my head in the lightest. With some testing I realized was not due to a bad cable but a flaw in the jack itself. - Speaking of the audio cable, the unit's input uses a 2.5mm jack. Ugh. If you don't know what that is, just about every stereo headphone cable you've seen has a 3.5mm (1/8") connector. But in yet another momentary lapse of engineering reason, Sennheiser decided to use this micro jack that's really meant for very small electronics that need the space-saving form factor of 2.5mm jacks. There's just no good reason to not stick with the convenience and ubiquity of 3.5mm cables for a device this size. - I've made only one phone call with this headset and the ambient noise was quite amplified. The person on the other end could hear quite a bit and every noise around me was amplified. I was able to carry on with the call, however, and the issue was more apparent to me than the person on the other end. Even so, I found it quite distracting. My Hesh 3s we excellent at shutting out external noise, so this is a disappointment. - While the noise cancelling itself works well, you can't really be sure when noise cancelling is on or off by looking at the unit when using BT. Hit the hold the volume button down, and the LED will blink 3 times purple when noise cancelling turns on. But then, it does the same exact indication when turning it off. So, did it just turn on, or off? Conclusion. After a week of playing with these, I'm going to return them. The lack of BT audio when charging and the ambient noise in call really turned me off and the rest pushed me over the edge. Worse comes worst, I might even buy another pair Hesh 3s if I cannot find another alternative.

Very disappointed. Can't get them to pair with PC or Mac computers. Included instructions are worthless due to being almost wordless. Can't find help online either.

They fit over the ears in an odd manner. Unless you have child sized ears. Too stiff and quality of sound is nothing special.

After comparing products through the reviews and testing in some stores, I find that this Sennheiser - HD 4.50 BTNC Wireless Over-the-Ear Noise Canceling Headphones has my maximum score not only the sound quality, the price, and the relative quality of the finish, apart from the application for cell phones that allows you to personalize even more the sound etc. It has my 5 stars and 99.99 points.

Good connectivity with Bluetooth and removable cable. I use them mostly for travel with good noise cancellation functionality. Good battery life and sound quality. A significant value, easily $100+ less than Bose & Beats.
