Solid performing headphone with ultra battery life

This headphone is awesome, worthy of the Sennheiser big name. It looks and feels premium, the sound quality is great and it offers a lot of features with notable improvement over the previous generation of the headphone. It competes really well with other top of the line headphones out there. First things first. I like the functional over the ear design. It looks elegant with the Sennheiser logo adorning the headphones. The padded foam feels okay. The headband is made of fabric and silicon padding and they’re okay. I actually prefer fabric for the headband because leather will visibly deteriorate over the years. The headphone is just a little bit heavier than some of the premium headphones out there, however, you can still wear the headphones comfortably even for hours. If you have concerns about comfortability or planning to use the headphone for long hours, it would be best to try the headphone yourself in a store. The headphone comes with a case as you would expect when buying a headphone at this price range. The case quality is good and it is stiff so your headphone would be safely stored when you bring the headphone for commuting or traveling. This is important because I had personal experience of having one of my headphones stop working properly due to improper storing when traveling. The headphone lays flat inside the case, and it fits nicely with all the necessary cables and travel adapter. One of the best features of the headphones is the very long battery life, rated at 60 hours and is much more than many other headphones out there. Even when ANC turned on, the headphone has very good battery life. Full charging takes about two hours. With the Bluetooth 5.2 protocols, the headphone can connect to two devices at the same time, which is nice because sometimes you would bring two devices in your backpack say a tablet and phone when traveling. The audio codec can support APTX and APTX Adaptive when using android devices. Aside of Bluetooth connection, you can connect the headphones through 2.5 mm audio jack and USB-C, they are both great options especially when you plan to use a DAC/AMP for a more tailored audio experience. For most users, Bluetooth connection should be adequate. The headphone uses touchpad controls, which works well. Music will stop when you put off the headphone and will resume as you wear the headphone back. ANC blocks out a great deal of noise, I have not tested the headphone inside an airplane, but it should work really well. Now onto the audio experience. Will it give you premium level audio experience? Yes. But here’s the problem, sound quality is very subjective especially if you are a discerning audio enthusiast or an audiophile. The bass and mids are there, instruments separation is discernible and the soundstage is wide. The sound signature is balanced, like studio headphones and there is a mobile app through which you can control the EQ as well as the ANC and other features. The headphone can chew many different genres. I would have liked the headphone more if the maximum volume is a little bit louder. Microphone works well and your voice would sound clear and natural for a headphone that does not have boom mic, which is great when you are using the headphone for video conference. Overall, this is a great offering from Sennheiser.

So I never leave reviews. Ever. But these headphones are just so good, that if I can convince just one person on the fence to buy these things. That is at least one life changed for me. Sennhesier knows what they are doing here. The sound quality is unmatched in my opinion compared to the other headphones in this price range. I bought these and the xm5 at the same time and kept these. I also own the AirPods Max and while they are nice and connect with my devices seamlessly 100% of the time. I'd still rather use these headphones. The battery life is absolutely amazing. They last so long that 90% of the time when I charge them, is when I feel like it's been well over a week and I feel bad for the headphones that I didn't charge them. I have not had these things die once on me while owning them. The comfortability of these headphones at least to me are second to none. They are super light weight and the padding is nice. I can wear these for 8 hours and barely even notice the weight on my dome piece. The only downfall for these headphones, is the ANC is kinda straight garbage. Or there's a chance im stupid and can't really figure out the setting, Even when I switch it to transparent it sounds almost like the full ANC mode. Other than that, these are completely worth their full msrp. When they are on sale? Buy them stupid what ya doin??

These are quite the Wireless headphones. I’ve not had the pleasure of using the Momentum line of Sennheiser’s headphones but have several different pairs of their other models. In terms of audio quality, these remind me a bit of the old school PX-100’s that they made back in the early 00’s which you can no longer buy. They got some great punchy bass which is something I always look for in headphones. I do quite like these. They’re marketed towards a certain line of users. I won’t mention those competitors, but I imagine you can deduce those brands. I do have a set of one these competitor headphones, so I do have some of a benchmark to compare to. For audio quality, they’re somewhat similar. They’ve got punchy bass and good mids and highs. I tested them with various kinds of music, and they handled it all well. They can get quite loud and are pretty much free of distortion with even the most bass heavy of tracks, though that will be determined with length of use. For battery life, I can’t speak to the claimed 60 hours peak playback time, I did listen to them for a few hours and the battery life barely budged. The Noise cancelling is ok. It's not near as good as some other brand's. They do an effective job at blocking out a good deal of outside sound, but again, there are better options for a similar price. They do fit well though. They are not near as clamped as my HD6XX Sennheiser’s. In time I imagine they will loosen up a little bit for me noggin as I’ve got a good-sized melon. They never did grow uncomfortable though which is always a plus. As for the app, I’ve used a couple different wireless Sennheiser products, and the app has always been the weak point. This seems to still hold true. One of the things I immediately noticed was that the EQ doesn’t work at all. I tried multiple different preset’s, my own settings, restarting the app, power cycling the headphones, but nothing changed. It’s possible that the app may need to be updated to support the Momentum 4’s, there was nothing at the time. It did see the Momentum 4’s however. As for the value, I don’t know if I’d say these are worth $350, I’d say they should be positioned lower, maybe around $270 or so. They’re in a price bracket with some stiff competition.

    Great Sound, Amazing Battery Life

For me, these headphones are replacing the Sony WH-1000XM4. The Momentum 4 are more comfortable to wear, in that they seem to retain less heat. The Sony’s seem to get hot on my ears after wearing for long periods, and I have not experiences this with the Momentum 4. The setup process was maybe the easiest I’ve ever had. Download the Sennheiser Connect app, it automatically found the Momentum 4 and paired. Ready to go in just a few seconds. For the sound, out of the box the Momentum 4 was too bass heavy. This is easy to correct by using the app to adjust the equalizer settings, or set up a new profile. In comparison to the Sony WH-1000XM4, there are two areas when the Momentum 4 excels. The battery life is amazing. Fully charged, and I’ve been wearing them for several hours, the battery has barely gone done. This gives me confidence that they will reach the claimed 60 hours. The only area where I prefer the Momentum is the responsiveness - in pairing and touch controls. When you pick the Momentum up, it automatically turns on an starts pairing. In most cases, the headphones are fully paired by the time I can place them on my head. The Sony will take several seconds, making me check that it really did connect. The Momentum touch controls are easy to use and almost instantaneous. One tap to pause/resume, two taps to toggle transparency mode, swipe up and down for volume, forward and back top skip, reverse. I’ve not had any missed taps or swipes, and the action is super fast. This has made me comfortable using the transparency mode - on the Sony I couldn’t always trigger the transparency mode and it also sounded a bit odd. The Momentum’s a very natural, not overpowering your ears with the audio the mics picks up. I can tell that the noise cancelling is not as good as the Sony, which is expected as the Sony seems to be best in class. However, in my environment this doesn’t get in the way. The Momentum’s also have a really nice understated design, and the carrying case is nice to provide protection and manage cables. Overall, the great battery life and sound quality make these a great pair of headphones.

BETTER THAN APPLE AIRPOD MAX, RIVALS SONY'S XM5

These headphones are amazingly Fantastic with sound quality, build, and Noise cancelation. I will be honest these rival sony's xm5's which have no doubt the BEST noise canceling hands down. For the momentum 4, the noise canceling isnt as good when compared to the sony xm5 but the sound quality is 2x better. If i could give into perspective how i see it, SONY xm5 - noise canceling 5/5 -Sound quality - 3.9/5 -Battery life - 3.5/5 - comfort - 5/5 -price - $399 Sennhieser momentum 4 - noise canceling 4/5 - Sound quality - 5/5 - battery life - 5/5 - comfort 5/5 -price - $349

Unfortunately my headphone power button was not operational so I was not able to power on and it was necessary to return the item. I researched on Reddit and it appears to be a very known issue with this model unfortunately. To be fair, I picked up a second pair and they powered in but after having read about all the issues I returned for a Sony m4 model.

    The Key Word is PREMIUM

I had heard often that Sennheiser headphones were famous for their superior bass reproduction. Trying on these new Momentum 4 headphones let me know immediately what everyone was talking about. It was fascinating listening to recordings I’ve heard a thousand times and yet hearing something totally new with these phones. First, everything about these headphones says “premium.” When you first put them on you can feel how the softness caresses your head without any unnatural pressure. You can adjust them effortlessly to fit. Downloading the Sennheiser app is a must. When first listening without the app, the headphones sounded ‘flat’ and I was a little worried. The app took care of the problem. You can simply adjust the equalizer yourself, or the app actually coaches you while you listen to a favorite tune, it gives you a few different choices with different frequencies in your song, and then gives you a final suggestion for your ultimate sound. It’s kind of like when you get fitted for eyeglasses and the optometrist gives you “A” or “B” choices repeatedly until your prescription is just right. Another ‘plus’ of the Momentum 4 is the incredible battery life. Sennheiser says it’s 60 hours at normal volume and noise cancellation. That’s twice as long as any other headphones I’ve seen. The headphones also feature a two year warranty. Since these ARE noise cancelling headphones, that’s an important feature to discuss. The cancellation is very good, maybe not quite as powerful as the premium Sony phones, but pretty close. You’d have to really do an “A” “B” test back and forth between them to really notice the difference. The headphones shined when using them for phone calls. The callers sounded crystal clear to me, and the people I called while using them could not tell whether I was talking into my phone directly, or just using the headphones on the call. I don’t know what more you can ask for. You do need to go through a ‘learning curve’ to learn to control the headphone’s features. There is only one physical switch, which turns the phone on and off and is used for pairing (although my headphones paired automatically with no assist from me,) Everything else is done by using the touchpad on the right earpiece, starting and stopping your music, skipping ahead or back, answering the phone and more is done with various finger movements along the pad. The case also says, “premium.” It has a heavy-duty zipper, and the headphones drop right in. It has elastic bands to hold the USB cord, an audio cable if you’re not going to be using Bluetooth, and even an old-fashioned ‘airplane adapter’ if they even use those anymore. Bottom line, if you are really looking for state of the art over-the-ear headphones, and from one of the most famous names in audio equipment for over 75 years, you will not go wrong with the Momentum 4’s.

I really love these headphones. They are the most comfortable available on the market in my opinion. They sound great and feel is second to none. The range is great for anything any home user would use or want. They are exceptionally great for Android or iOS devices. They don't tell you but you should install there first to configure them to your preferences. They you can use bluetooth to connect them to your Windows devices but I did not find any software support available for the Windows platform, but they did work just fine with the default settings. I will say you will be happier to connect them to your phone and customize how you want to have them to sound for your listening preferences. I have spend hundreds on competitors headphones to have similar features but none are quite up to this level. The ear cups are very comfortable and the materials don't feel like cheap plastic. Once fully charged and with an occasional recharge, these will be ready to go for your listening sessions or a day of work. You can enjoy all types and genres of music, charge them during a restroom break, or when you step away for lunch, then they are ready to go again. The included carrying case means they will last for a very long time and easy to protect during your travels. You can not go wrong with these full feature headphones and if you can ever find them on sale they are easily a can't miss. Highly recommended and should last for many years.

I have used plenty of Sennheiser headphones before but never in the Momentum line before. I have used their CX true wireless earbuds and other various headphones over the years. I never quite liked the look of the older Momentum headphones but I know there is people that do though. These headphones have that modern look like other Active noise cancelling headphones have from other major brands. They have a mix of plastic and metal build which makes it quite light and from the looks better then the older generation of these headphones. Inside the box you get the headphones inside a case which has the USB type A to USB type C cable to charge the device, a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack cable to use the headphones wired with the 2.5mm going to the headphones. Also comes with an airplane adapter which is good for the few times you might need it. The headphones are able to connect to the Sennheiser connect app which lets you change the EQ, the level of ANC you want to use or transparency mode as well. The headphones also have a sensor which detects if its on you and can pause the music if you take it off. I find it to be too sensitive and I have turned it off since I found it will turn on your headphones inside the case. YMMV. The advertised battery life is 60 hours with ANC on and from what I've seen so far, I am inclined to believe that claim . All in all if you want top tier ANC with the best sound quality These are great. Not the best ANC but close to it.

So good. I think Sennheiser was always too focused on sound quality for music and left comfort and noise canceling be afterthoughts, which let Bose and Sony own much of the market … BUT NOW they have all three dialed in pushing them past the competition. You won’t find a better headset out of the box ready for any situation. The hard shell case is perfectly designed and calls are crystal. The companion app is there for us audiophiles, but factory settings were on point. The battery life is insane. Lasts days and I use these at work constantly. Best luxury all-purpose headphones on the market today. Way to go Sennheiser!!!!
