Overall best in ear headphones!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best sound quality headphones. Best in ear noise cancellation headphones. Trust me I’ve had tested a lot of headphone and hands down the best quality, sound, and most comfortable. Only down side to these headphones will be the design on top of the headphones and some may struggle when working out or getting sweaty. But I myself don’t have this issue with these headphones. Customization is really good in the app to meet your needs. Battery life is amazing.

UNDERRATED, so I decided to speak up for everyone.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the recent years, I have developed a passion for quality earphones/headphones. I was first introduced to Beats, and for a while, I thought it is the best sounding thing there is. Then when Bose came out with their ANC technology, I got their Original QC earbuds. It was and still is absolutely one of my all time favorite. From functionality, to sound quality - just a solid and well-invested product by Bose. I became a fan, and started buying their headphones. Bose has that prefabricated sounds signature, which for a while I thought is incomparable anywhere as it just sounds… good and comfortable. It is just right. After 2 years of owning those, the Bose QC Ultra came out, and I was all in ready for a revolutionary upgrade. I was absolutely in excitement to try out their new products BUT was quickly disappointed. ANC is still second to none, but the sound stage and sound engineering has changed causing the music experience to be, to me, reduced. The sound is now “less” prefabricated, and sounds shalllower. Their immersive audio technology expand the sound stage but it is not naturally how a song supposed to be. Let me tell you, because of the disappointment, I then tried EVERYTHING. Sonys, Jabra, Apples, Bose… nothing gives me the satisfaction like the Bose QC original earbuds that I was looking for. Nevertheless, I learned something! Bose is nice with their prefabricated sound signature and sounds engineering (the position of the sound of the music you’re listening to like the mid is in the middle of your head, bass is surrounded, and treble is kinda top left and right) which give you an amazing listening experience. However, Sonys, theyre are more detailed. I dont have time so let me cut to the chase, I then discovered the Sennheiser MTW 4. ANC is a bit below Bose and Sonys, but THE SOUND QUALITY. It is clear and detailed with spacious soundstage and sound engineering. I learned the term sound resolution, and it id Sennheiser. Its like w Bose you’re watch a 1080p video but w Sennheiser it is 4k. I use iphone, and from my research, I am limited to get the highest sound resolution these buds can offer. However, when going to the setting and set it to Hi-Res sound, it still blows everything, or at everything I have tried, out of the water. Furthermore, Sennheiser, they care about their products and listen to their customers, at least from my experience. The Bose QC original earbuds is still a classic to me (amazing vocal and treble) but now when I am sitting down and really want to listen to some detailed, high resolution music. You already know. And I really dont know what’s up with other low-star reviews. Do your own research and try these out. Everything is just right w these (sounds, battery, anc, a trusted company, and a lot more). Give credit where credit is due. Bose and Sennheiser, if you guys see this, please keep on improving.

Excellent sound, solid NC, case still too big
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4.5 stars if I could. Having previously owned the gen1 Momentums, these have come a long way and I'm overall pleased with them. Only one big gripe which I'll detail. Sound: I personally find these worthy of the Sennheiser name. They probably won't knock your socks off like some high-end IEMs but the sound is solid with sparkling highs, clear mids, and satisfying bass. Everything comes through. The in-app EQ has also come a long way in allowing you to really tailor sound to your preference. Noise Cancelling: This is decent. I think the silicone ear-tips kinda work against them in the noise cancelling performance however. I really prefer the foam tips that I previously had on my Sony xm4s which did a little better at blocking out train noise and chatter around me. Battery: No complaints here. Battery life seems as advertised. Only time will tell if the batteries in these last for more than a couple years though. (unlike my Sony xm4s) The app features an optional battery health mode which restricts the case and buds to charging up to 80-90% respectively. Charging all the way to 100% will cause the most wear on your batteries so I appreciate this feature. Fit/Comfort: These fit my ears just fine but again I find myself missing the foam eartips I previously had. Sennheiser has added an additional size of tips as well as different wing shapes that can help stabilize the bud in your ear but I never have issues with them falling out. They're comfortable enough to wear for a few hours. Case: Wireless charging is greatly appreciated and it looks pretty with the fabric. However, I'm quite frustrated with the dimensions. I can't believe they are now on gen4 and still have this case that is way too thick. It's like packing a sizeable rock around in your pocket and gets annoying as soon as you want to walk anywhere. They slightly shrunk the case length-wise but that's the only difference between this and the gen1. The charging port also shouldn't have been moved to the front. I find myself trying to open them on the wrong side now because it more closely resembles the hinged side if I'm not looking closely. Quite annoyed with the case overall which is mainly what keeps these from being a 5/5 for me. App: It's decent. No issues with connectivity so far and I like the EQ and battery life settings. I use the buds with a Pixel 7 and they pair quickly with no skipping.

Great sound.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 is not only an incredibly long name but also a but of a dark horse in the world dominated by Bose, Sony, and Apple. The TW4 outperforms the QC Ultra and AirPods Pro 2 in terms of sound quality. The noise reduction, however, falls a bit behind mentioned competitors. Spatial audio is not supported and really only works well on the airpods. The charging case for the latter is by far the smallest of the three and offers wireless charging, as does the Sennheiser, The TW is similar in size to the Bose, albeit in different proportions. In terms of features, the AirPods are in their own class, as ling as you use Apple devices. Overall, they are my favorite for daily use, but the TW4 is my preference when sound quality matters. That’s even with the other producing excellent sound … just not as great.

You call this a upgrade?
|Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sennheiser TW4 have sound quality that reminds me of the Sony mX series earbuds. That's not me giving a compliment by the way I left Sony earbuds and headphones a long time ago when I tested them out in the hype that they sound so good based off all the normies telling me so. So little did I know that these people must have hearing damage because I can't stand how they sound. To describe it in terms I would say it sounds muffly and has too much bass and not enough clarity. That's how I would describe the Sony experience in my opinion. Now back to the sennheisers. I'm sad to say that I returned my sennheiser TW3s for these downgraded upgraded versions quote on quote. The sound quality as far as clarity isn't as good, the base somewhat crackles. The wingtips feel harder and a little more uncomfortable. The only thing I could say that is upgrade is the battery life is better, and the copper look looks cooler. Beyond that I'm wrestling if I good jest return these for my previous versions or maybe return these for a different brand that I heard is all so very very good or wait it out until they release new firmware updates that fix the sound. Because it's true that we've all had phones or earbuds you're supposed to let them cook for a couple hours like 20 or so, it's called the "burn in effect". But you know something's off when $60 soundcore a40s sound better than $300 earbuds....

Has a lot of potential
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now overall these earbuds have great hardware built into them some of the best hardware out there but not everyone is going to take full advantage of these earbuds because not all phones support aptx adaptive, HD, and lossless now they have gret battery life, some very strong magnets in the case, great fast charging and a premium build but heres my problem with them there not comfortable atleast for my ears and my phone the samsung galaxy s23 ultra doesnt support all the codecs so to me they dont sound that impressive and the tranceparency mode could be better so for this price i cant recommend your honestly better with the technics az 80s there overall better and pretty much everyone on the android side will be able to take advantage of them because every android phone supports ldac codec with is the codec the technics have so at $300 the technics are overall better and more people will be able to full advantage of them. So the senheizers are going back

It's unfortunate
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is unfortunate that I have to write a negative review. I literally spent two weeks reviewing different earbuds. I settled on Sennheiser due to the good reviews and the noise cancellation as well as the warranty. I have had Momentum 4, for four months now. From the first week there has been disappointment. Initially the volume was lower than desired, I wrote that off to being ear buds, not over the ear headset, so I said I can handle a little less bass. Then the issue with fit. The ear buds keep slipping, have to keep pushing them back in my ears. It's no fun having the catch an ear bud sitting at the poker table. Then finally the quality of sound. I am sitting and listening or walking and listening and have my phone in my pocket and I get static or it cuts out. This is less than acceptable. I finally have enough and today, I will take them to the store to see what they can do, exchange or return. But even though I did my research, unfortunately the Sennheiser-MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 Earbuds, and much less than optimal for every day use.

An Audiophile's Delight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My music listening experience has been completely changed ever since I got the opportunity to try this Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 Earbuds. The design is the first thing we should talk about, You can tell they're well made and long lasting thanks to the sturdy construction and stylish black finish. Additionally, they come with multiple ear tip sizes, allowing you to discover the ideal fit for your ears a major benefit when it comes to comfort you can check which ear tips suits to your ear using the App, Let us move on to the way it sounds which is absolutely astounding. The sound is clean, well balanced, and sharp the bass is strong without being muffling even at the higher frequencies. Without a doubt, the MOMENTUM 4 Earbuds provide the most immersive listening experience, whether I'm enjoying my favorite rock songs or losing myself in a classical masterpiece. For me, the active noise cancellation is one of the highlight features. It's as if you can enter a peaceful cocoon anywhere, even in the most hectic of places, like a crowded cafe or the flight Journey. My favorite part is how it eliminates all background noise, so you can concentrate on your music or podcasts. Not only that, but these earbuds have an excellent battery life. You won't often run out of juice, even on lengthy journeys or busy days out and about, with up to 30 hours of playing with the charging case and 7 hours with earphones. I can quickly return to listening to music whenever I need to charge because the case offers rapid charging. I didn't have to fiddle with my phone at all to change the volume, skip songs, activate active noise cancellation, or answer calls thanks to the earbuds' responsive and user friendly touch controls. Additionally, I can rest assured that even light precipitation or perspiration won't damage them during my workouts or outdoor adventures because they have an IP54 rating for water resistance. From a user's perspective, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 Earbuds are amazing. Impressive style, first rate sound, and user-friendly functions come together to form the best listening experience ever. In short, these are top-notch wireless earbuds that you should look into buying one.

Evolutionary, not Revolutionary - Still GREAT!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you get the new Momentum True Wireless 4, you won’t necessarily notice any difference between the outgoing True Wireless 3 earbuds these replace. Even the charging case looks the same. The True Wireless 4 are an evolutionary upgrade, not a revolutionary upgrade. That’s actually a good thing. The True Wireless 3, which I’ve had for the last couple years are excellent earbuds. Sennheiser has a characteristic signature “flat” sound. Headphones, which are too bright or too base driven can cause listener fatigue. Sennheiser, has a sound which is neutral which you can listen to for hours on end without fatigue. Download the Smart Control app and you’ll find sound settings to customize the earbuds to your personal tastes. The TW 4’s offer a number of upgrades over the TW 3's. The antennas have been redesigned to improve stability. They now use “dynamic-load-switching,” which will improve the consistency of the sound quality and the closest earbud to your cellphone is always connected but the earbuds can switch to maintain the best sound. The TW 4’s will have Auracast which will permit audio at the same time through separate channels to listen to music and receive notifications simultaneously at Airports or Stadiums. You’ll also be able to stream to two pairs of compatible earbuds from one device. These are the worlds first earbuds to be released using this new technology, making them virtually future proof. The new TW 4’s also have the new Qualcomm S5 Gen 2 Processor and Snapdragon Sound Technology. Why is this important? You’ll be able to stream losslessly from 16-bit 44kHz but with an update (to be released) you'll be able to stream at 24-bit 48 kHz. The TW 4’s also support Bluetooth 5.4, aptX Lossless and LE Audio (but you have to have a device which supports them) If you own an iPhone and use Apple Music, you’ll be limited to AAC at 16-bit. If you subscribe to other premium Streaming Services like Qobuz or Tidal you’ll get the higher bit-rate. The TW 4’s include all the high-end Codec’s, like SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive/Lossless and LC3. I can’t honestly hear the difference between Codec’s myself. My TW 3’s suffered catastrophic battery failure in the same earbud twice, requiring Sennheiser to replace them. To their credit, they did so outside the warranty, which is a generous 2 years. Sennheiser has reengineered the battery in the TW 4's so they should be much more reliable. NECESSARY DETAILS: - The TW 4’s are IPX-54 rated, which is water resistant, but you can’t shower or swim with them. - There are 3 microphones per earbud for calls. - They use touch controls to pause music, raise volume, skip songs, answer a call. - Included in the box are four sizes of ear tips, 3 wing sizes, to customize the fit to your ears. - With ANC on, you’ll get about 7 hours of playback before needing to charge them, without ANC Sennheiser claims 7.5 hours. And a quick 8 minutes of charge, you’ll get an hour of play time. - Sennheiser now lets you charge the batteries up to 80% increasing the useful life of the batteries. - The charging case will give you up to 30 hours of play time. - The Smart Control app is comprehensive. You can create custom EQ settings, control the Adaptive ANC/Passthrough and even reprogram the touch options on each earbud. With sound personalization, you can intelligently calibrate a custom audio profile from a sophisticated analysis of your reactions against a series of sound samples. It works GREAT! There’s a 5-band equalizer, if you’d prefer to just slide your way to the sound that fits your listening needs. COMFORT - SOUND - ANC - CALL QUALITY: The large soft silicone ear tips fit me best, with medium sized wings. Sennheiser changed the ear tips slightly. They’re more comfortable. Better comfort means you can listen longer, without fatigue. These puppies are very comfortable for long hours of listening. Sound trumps ALL, when it comes to headphones. I’ve read some reviews where people expected the new TW 4’s to be mind-blowingly better than their predecessor. The TW 3’s were already great earbuds. The new TW 4’s are not radically different sounding than the TW 3’s. But that’s good. Sennheiser is long known for making headphones with a signature sound that is honest, realistic, and honors the way the sound was recorded. Bass is strong not boomy. Mid-range is natural and upfront. Treble is not harsh and won’t cause listener fatigue. There are pieces I listen to test new headphones. Camille Saint Sans - Organ Symphony. When the organ hits, you want to feel like you’re in a concert hall and feel the deep bass of the organ resonating. The TW 4’s did that with great gusto! Mason Bates, Alternative Energy – Xingjiang Provence is powerful and the TW 4’s did an amazing job. Libera’s, For the Future, which can sound harsh on lesser earbuds, presented vocals which were smooth and warm. The Piano Guys, A Thousand Years, which is a very dynamic workout for headphones and the TW 4’s did an amazing job. Use the right ear tip and you may not need to use ANC. Passive noise cancellation on these is really good. But there will be times in loud environments (crowded coffee shop/airplane) and you’ll need ANC. ANC on the TW 4 is excellent for my needs. Passthrough works well if you need to hear sounds from outside (running for example) where passthrough can save your life. Call quality is one area Sennheiser could step it up a bit. In a quiet room, it works fine. Move into a noisy environment, and the TW 4’s fall short. It’s not bad, but it could and should be better with 3 microphones per earbud. Overall, I’m REALLY happy with the TW 4. They may not be revolutionary, but they offer all the great things the TW 3’s offered and add in better batteries, better battery management, the newest future proof technologies, great sound and even better comfort. Should you buy them? Yes, even if you already own the TW 3. To me, the new True Wireless 4 is a great step forward in Sennheiser’s best consumer earbuds! Just don't expect earth-shaking differences. It's not easy to make something already great better. But Sennheiser did just that with the TW 4. Yes, they did!

Excellent music quality and ANC, so-so for calls
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using Sennheiser Momentum 4 over ear headphones for a while and the comfort, sound, and features are all top notch. They are the undisputed king of my headphone collection. That positive experience compelled me to try these Momentum 4 buds to determine whether they are just as good. Despite a couple minor initial bumps, these buds proved to be on par with the full sized offering as far as music sound quality. The buds are housed in a stylish slip resistant fabric charging case that can be charged via the included USB-C cable or a Qi wireless charger. No wall or Qi charger is included. I assumed setup would be easy due to my already having the Sennheiser Smart Control app installed on my smartphone. However, I opened the app, clicked add a new device, and received an error stating “something went wrong”. I closed the app, opened my phone’s Bluetooth settings, and manually paired the buds in there. They were immediately detected by the app when I relaunched it. The app indicated the buds needed a firmware update, so I clicked to apply. Again, I encountered the “something went wrong” error message and the update failed. Seeing the same vague error twice within a few minutes didn’t exactly fill me with confidence. I tried again, but the app falsely indicated the firmware was already up to date. Luckily, it was another easy to resolve issue. I simply closed the app and waited a few minutes. When I re-opened the app, the pending firmware update notification reappeared, and I was able to apply the update which took about five minutes to complete. I haven’t encountered any similar errors or issues since. Once the buds were finally charged, paired, and updated, I tried them on. Both buds surprisingly fit into my ears securely and comfortably with a good seal using the preinstalled tips and fins. I confirmed proper fit using the in-app fit test. Additional sized tips and fins are included if needed. I had a television playing in the background at moderate volume and could still clearly hear it when I first inserted the buds. I opened the Sennheiser app, clicked noise cancellation, and the room instantly went near silent. It was a little jarring how much environmental noise these buds immediately blocked even without music playing. These have the best ANC I’ve encountered on buds so far. That’s even considering my white pro buds, which previously held the best bud ANC title in the household. When I need to hear the surrounding environment, transparency mode works well with barely any detectable white noise. I haven’t had an opportunity to try these in extremely noisy environments yet, but based on what I’ve witnessed so far, I can’t wait to try them on a flight soon. The ANC was impressive but the real treat was when I began playing music. I love the default neutral sound profile. I’m not referring to neutral in the flat non-appealing way, but rather in a way where everything sounds nicely balanced. No tones overpower others. There’s no sloppy or distorted sounding bass, no shrill highs, and no muddy mids. Everything pops perfectly in sync with impressive fidelity. These buds are great for complex musical arrangements and instantly became my new go to buds for jazz. I decided to test the low end to see how hip hop sounded and these again didn’t disappoint. Most songs had tight, impactful bass and even the deeper frequencies sound good. Overall, it is a great listening experience and these buds easily proved their ability to handle multiple genres each presenting unique sound challenges. If the default sound profile isn’t quite to the liking, the app has a five-band equalizer and bass boost option for further fine tuning if desired. The controls are the usual touch/tap style inputs that control ANC, volume, answering calls, and music playback. Touch controls can be disabled in the app, a convenient option for active use situations such as workouts, where buds may frequently have to be readjusted and merely touching a bud can result in unintentional commands like pausing the music, disabling ANC, or advancing the track. Battery life is good. The charging case reliably keeps the buds topped off, allowing me to listen to music for a couple hours daily for several days before needing to recharge the case. I don’t typically use regular buds for phone calls and online meetings, but tested these on a few calls to judge call sound quality. Surprisingly, that’s where I was least impressed. My voice sounds fine on the other end and the noise cancelling mics do a good job of suppressing background noise so the other parties hear me clearly. On my end however, callers sound flat and occasionally muffled. It’s not terrible but voices aren’t as clear sounding as some of my other buds. These are good enough for the rare occasions I need to use them for unexpected calls I receive while listening, but they wouldn’t be my first choice for business calls or video conferencing. Overall, these buds impressed me and are every bit the bud equivalent of the fantastic Momentum 4 headphones. Call quality was slightly underwhelming, but I seldom use buds like these for calls anyhow. So, it’s not a big issue for me. Sennheiser knocked it out of the park in all other areas and I’m looking forward to countless hours of music listening enjoyment with these outstanding sounding buds.

A minor improvement over Momentum 3's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is now my 12th set of BT wireless earbuds. The third that supports BT 5.3. Why so many; they keep getting better. I had the Sennheiser Momentum 3 True Wireless. And I thought they were sensational. Since BT 5.3 became available I have these Momentum 4's, Denon's PerL Pro 339s and Soundcore's Liberty 4 NC. These Sennheiser's and the Denon's are priced within $50 of one and the Soundcore's are 1/2 the Sennheiser's price. The Sennheiser's come with a 2 year warranty, the others a single year. Before I did any testing I made sure that I had the current firmware for each and I broke the Sennheiser Momentum 4 overnight with Tara Labs Noise burnin, they lasted 7hrs, not quite the 7.5hrs promised and only 15m more than the Momentum 3s. Sennheiser claims the 4s have 30h battery life (7.5h+22.5h from charging case). Both the Sennheiser's and the Denon's have a custom sound profile, where you listen to sounds/music to create a personal profile. The Denon 'test' tells you more about what they are doing than the Sennheiser 'test', the Sennheiser seems to incorporate more dealing with volume, the Denon more with frequency ranges. In either case I prefered the custom profile to the default. Both the Sennheiser and the Denon's have a custom 5-band EQ. The Denon's can be combined with the custom profile, with the Sennheiser it's a one or the other proposition (too bad). The Denon's have an Immersion Mode which is said to improve the 3D soundstage, I try this later. Soundcore has a 8 band EQ and a similar sound profiling tool which is more like an audiologists test tool (can you hear this tone, how loud is this...) and their EQ can be combined with the custom sound profile. I listened to all 3 pairs from an iPhone 15 pro and an Android 13 Tablet w/Poweramp. All 3 earbuds have active ANC and all support a form of transparency (you can hear someone speaking to you with the earbuds on). The Sennheiser and the Denon's ANC performed adequately and Soundcore was not nearly as good. All 3 earbuds seemed to weigh about the same, all claimed similar battery life (7-8h). The Denon's are physically the largest, and the big part goes up, the Sennheiser's and the Soundcore's are designed to hang on your ear with the big part down. I found the Sennheiser's had a better fit when moving vigorously, but when just seated the Denon's were less noticeable (easier to wear all day). The Soundcore's moves around a bit requiring me to reseat them occasionally. No clear winner, easy to wear any of them on a long flight. I tried all 3 next to a running A/C unit to test the ANC none were perfect still a some "engine" noise the Soundcore was the worst of the 3, a toss up after that. Then I listened to Boston's first album; switching between the 3 earbuds now and then. Then Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Foghat's Fool for the City, A little Warren Zevon, Queen, Rush, Yes and Zeppelin. And I went between my iPhone and my Tablet (w/aptX), I tried to match sound levels, which was harder than I'd anticipated. The best bass across all the music was Sennheiser Momentum 4's. It was a little punchier, the Denon's were a close second. And the Soundcore's bass was similar (but a bit thinner) on the iPhone but lost out noticeably from the Android Tablet. The highs from the Sennheiser's were the cleanest, making horns sound the best. This is where the Soundcore's biggest weakness showed up, the ethereal voices on DSOTM didn't float in the same way they did on the Denon's and the Sennheiser's. The spoken words on the Denon's sounded better with their Immersion mode enabled, the Sennheiser's were a close second. From my iPhone I thought the mid's of the Sennheiser's were slightly cleaner than the Denon's. But the other way around from my tablet (this surprised me and I repeated my listening tests). Clearly the Sennheiser's sounded better from my iPhone and the Denon's from my Tablet (same source material). The Sennheiser's offer something called sound zones, which can be set/changed based on GPS locations, so you could have a profile for the office, your home, the ballpark, any place you frequent. An interesting concept that I really didn't get to test. But the best implementation of a feature was the Sennheiser's transparency setting, so that when you talk with someone, how you can hear them, it just lowers the volume of the music. I can think of circumstances where I might use one or the other (mute), but it's nice to have a choice (I'd definitely program this for 3 taps and hold). The Sennheiser's and the Denons's are both exceptional earbuds, in many cases it was hard to tell them apart. From an iPhone I'd say the Sennheiser's were the winner and from and Android tablet (aptX) the Denon's were my preference. But given both of these are twice the cost of the Soundcore's the Soundcore's are the best bargain. After listening for several hours, I found all of them very comfortable. Sennheiser has improved upon Momentum 3 slightly, but I would not spend $100 more to get the 4' over the 3's. IMHO the 3's and 4's are one of the best sets of earbuds that you can get today (if you have an iPhone). The Denon's are great, but possibly a little overpriced compared to the Sennheiser Momentum 4s, I don't think I'd spend more to get them.

They sound great, but did not fit me well.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a little conflicted while writing this review, because on one had these are very good earbuds, but on the other, they are not. I will do my best to explain. First of all, from the moment you take these out of the box you know they are a premium product. They are built well and they thought of a lot of design elements such as wrapping the case in a gray mesh cloth so its softer to touch. Including an array of different size ear tips and wings to help you get the proper fit. Getting them paired to the app was a fairly easy process and there are a lot of things you can try in the app to enhance your listening experience. For starters they have a 5 band EQ, I would hope they would have at least a 10 band, but 5 is all you get. There is another option where you can tune the buds to “your sound”. Basically they play a bunch of clips of music and you adjust the levels of duitars and drums and such to supposedly tell the ear buds how you like music to sound. Then you have a large graph show up on the screen where you can supposedly fine tune that sound. I found this to not work that great for me. First of all, the style of music they have you tune the buds too is not even close to the style of music I listen to. So, I am unable to tell it how I like to listen to the style of music I like. Secondly, when you go to fine tune them, you still can’t listen to one of your songs, you have to listen to a predetermined track to adjust them. Then go back into your music service and listen to something you want to. Then go back to the fine tune and try to adjust. Then go back to your music app. Its quite a maddening experience. So, for that reason, I just stuck with the 5 band EQ and I was able to get much better sound that way than messing around with the personalized experience. Next, I will get into the fit, which is where I have the biggest problem. Whenever I put these earbuds in it takes me a very long time in order to hit the sweet spot where most of my ear is sealed so I can get the best sound. I tried all the different tips, all the different wings in all the different combinations and I still struggled every time I put these in my ears. I like to wear these when riding my bike so I was excited to try the wind noise blocking setting on them to see if it would help. The problem was that I could never get a great seal or fit in my ear so wind was still getting in. Maybe including some foam tips would help to get a better seal in the ear canal instead of the typical rubber ones that don’t really conform to your ear easily. On the occasions when I was able to get a good seal on the ear, these sounded fantastic! So that’s why I’m a little conflicted in my review. Under the right circumstances and in the right ears, these sound amazing! I was getting a good balance of bass, mids, and treble and everything sounded very crisp and clear without being too overpowering in any aspect. I mostly played hi-res music files from my phone, but I also tried Spotify and that also sounded great. I found the noise reduction to be pretty much on par with most other earbuds. It does a good job of blocking out a lot of noise around you, but you will still be able to hear things during silence in your music. I found all of the touch controls to work very well also. You can set them up in the app to pretty much do anything you want then you tap the earbud one, two, or 3 times and also when you hold your finger on it for a couple seconds. So you can easily customize these to your liking. The battery life was fantastic as well. As usual, the case also has a battery in it so it will charge the earbuds whenever you put them back in the case (as long as the case is charged). The case also has wireless charging which I love, so you don’t have to mess around with cases. So, overall, these earbuds are great and they sound fantastic. Just know that you may have a problem getting a good fit for your ears and that may cause you to struggle with them.

Masters of sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A couple of decades ago, I remember going to a store to pick up my first audiophile headphones. These headphones lasted for several years and they have always set the bar for those who followed. The brand? Sennheiser. It's 2024 and Sennheiser is back in full force with some excellent products. Like the Momentum 4 ear buds I've gotten and let me tell you, the company still knows how to make excellent hardware. The box doesn't look flashy or out of this world, but if you take some time to look at the back of the box, you should get an idea of what these babies can do. They come jam-packed with the latest tech: Bluetooth 5.4, Adaptive ANC, LE Audio and Auracast. The list is much longer, but you get the idea. One thing caught my eye though and it's not necessarily something you'd look at. Sennheiser offers 2 years of warranty on their Momentum ear buds. To me, that's a clear sign that they care about their customers and the continued quality upkeep of their products. In the box are the ear buds in their case, a short USB-C to USB-A charging cable, a set of replacement tips and a separate sleeve with 3 other sizes of tips. There's a quick manual to get you started as well as other pertinent documentation. The case is covered in a textile wrap. I love the idea, but you have to ask yourself how long until it turns into a dust and dirt magnet. The buds look rather big at first glance, but once in your ear, they are very comfortable to wear, which is mostly due to the shape which locks them in place in your ear with a slight twist. Once connected and hooked up to your device (I would recommend to use a smart phone first as that seems to be the default platform for ear buds these days), you will be welcomed by some of the clearest, smoothest sound you can get. The frequency range is amazing with clean highs, wide mids and round and bouncy bass. Some might dislike the chimey highs, but you can change all of this with the dedicated companion app. I spent several hours listening to various genres and I couldn't find a track that would show any deficiencies in that area. On top of having a beautiful sound, the comfort is also there, even after hours, your ears don't feel like someone went to town with a cheese grater on them. Another great aspect is the amount of customization you have to make the sound truly yours. The EQ works very well and you can even tweak the sound rendering to a higher frequency and bit size or activate other helpful options. The active noise canceling tech used by Sennheiser is one of the best on the market and switching it on and off is as easy as tapping your ear bud which doesn't interrupt your listening experience, but allows you to listen to someone talking to you. If you're a casual user, you can also simply apply the presets and not ever have to dive into the belly of the beast, without ever sacrificing quality. The battery charge is close to what it claims, around 30 hours (I clocked in about 26 hours). Charging doesn't take very long either, you can get a good amount of charge in less than an hour. Bottom line: Sennheiser is back, making great sounding and high quality audio available for everyone. The price tag is right where it should be as these ear buds are better than most other brands in the same price segment. If you love music and you want some ear candy, go for it and by the Momentum 4. Excellent product!

Like the Awesome TW3 but better!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These high-end true wireless earbuds have it all! Adaptive Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, wireless charging, long battery life, quick charge for when you forget to charge the case, amazing sound, etc. While they look and sound similar to the prior TW3, they have improvements in the batteries and the connection codecs that make the guts better than before and are more future-proof for improved connections. Highlights: * Improved battery for longer and more reliable use. * Updated Bluetooth codecs for better sound and future-proof updates. * Better active noise cancellation. * All of the same excellent features of the TW3 including wireless charging and comfortable wearing. * Multi-point connections. * Flexible customizations via the Sound Control app. * Auto-pauses the music when Transparency Mode is on or one bud is removed. * Improved ear tips are easier to clean. Room for Improvement: * No major differences visually between these and the prior TW3. * Still a tad chunky. Setup: Extremely easy to set up with a combination of BT Classic and BTLE connections to set everything up quickly and easily. Once connected to your device of choice, use the app to customize the sound profile, the function of taps on each bud, update firmware, etc… Everything seems easy to understand and apply. Usage: Take the buds out of their case and put in your ears. They connect quickly and easily and resume whatever sound profile you last used (or one based on location if set up that way). Defaults are to have the adaptive ANC on normally and then a single tap on the left earbud will pause playback and turn on the Transparency mode - a feature I really like. The audio quality is superb by default but can be tweaked as much as you like. As an owner of the prior model (TW3), the sound seems really close. Most of the improvements in this TW4 over the prior TW3 are related to the batteries and Bluetooth connections, so there shouldn’t be much of a noticeable difference in normal day-to-day use. The upgraded batteries now last longer, charge faster and are more reliable in the long-term. I personally had issues with the TW3’s batteries and needed to replace my buds under warranty, so I appreciate the change in batteries with the TW4. The upgraded Bluetooth codecs claim to future-proof these earbuds so they can be updated later to work with Bluetooth connections that are more efficient, have higher quality sound and new sharing features. For now, though, they work just as great as before and may be even more robust connecting to your devices. Putting the TW4 side-by-side with the TW3 is hard to tell the difference. So if you tried and liked the TW3, this TW4 is everything you loved but with better batteries and newer Bluetooth connection codecs. Upgrading to the TW4 from the TW3 is not a slam-dunk, but if you value the future-proof connection ability of the TW4 and/or had issues with the TW3’s batteries, these would be a nice update. By the way, the ear tips have an updated design that makes them easier to clean if some ear wax gets in there (which they always tend to do). Overall: Everything that the amazing TW3 had in terms of fit, function and sound quality, but with improvements in the batteries and updates that future-proof the Bluetooth connections. Despite their chunky look, these earbuds are comfortable to wear for hours, sound amazing and the ANC and Transparency modes are top-notch. If you’ve been waiting for a time to jump in to Sennheiser’s best true wireless earbuds, these are for you!

Laid back & easy going. ANC needs work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: Laid back & easy going. ANC needs work to make them excel. FEATURES USB-C / Wireless Qi Charging Capability Active Noise Cancellation Up to 7.5hrs of Playback per Charge / 30hrs with Docking Station Latest Bluetooth 5.4 support with Auracast and LE Audio support Supports Lossless Audio Playback INTIAL CONFIGURATION Initial configuration via the Sennheiser app is a unique experience with Sennheiser’s twist on the market. It works well for the most part but is not as user-friendly and convenient as Sennheiser’s competition. One exceptionally nice feature of the Sennheiser set-up process is the test fit and initial tuning built-in to the app. The app helps the user get a better initial experience with their purchase, guiding them through a series of audio clips, helping to tailor the sound profile to his or her liking. The app plays a combination of instruments, representing the low, middle, and upper ends of the listening spectrum (not absolute limits, just the sweet spots). The user merely adjusts a series of sliders to make the pre-selected track sound to them. It is simple and easy and goes a long way to help get the initial set-up dialed in, reducing the amount of fiddling and tweaking. One thing I don’t like is that Sennheiser requires you to create an account with them to use and create the tailored sound profile described above. Failure to do so renders the customized sound profile useless. This is an unnecessary way to get people to sign up and is the ONLY vendor I have that requires you to sign up and register your product to activate the profiling feature. Out of the 9 other vendors of headphones and ear buds I use, none of them cripple their apps and product in this regard. I’m sure Sennheiser will claim that doing it this way carries your preferences from one device to another, but for those like me, my sound preferences on my Android phone are different than my iPad. In keeping with the audio configuration, another huge miss is the adjustment process after initial set-up. The app does not allow you to configure your sound preference on the fly. To make changes, the app stops your current playback and resumes Sennheiser’s pre-selected track again. You make your tweaks and once confirmed your playback resumes. If you don’t like your changes, you must repeat the whole process over again. I would much prefer to make on the fly sound adjustments with your currently playing track versus bouncing back and forth. While Sennheiser does allow for on-the-fly adjustments via a 5-band equalizer, having both options seems redundant and unnecessary. AUDIO QUALITY As with any audio product, perceived audio quality and reproduction is always subjective and often controversial. In my use of the product, the Sennheiser’s are the Jeff Spicoli of my current ear buds and headphones (kudos to those of you who instantly recognized the old-school 80’s movie reference). The True Wireless 4’s, much like the iconic movie character, are easy-going and laid back without a care in the world. These are, by far, the most laid-back and warmest of any ear buds I have. Not that it is a bad thing. It is something the user must hear for themselves, especially if auditioning them side by side with a competitor. While I have several sets of ear buds and headphones that are tonally much more neutral than the Sennheiser’s, there is something to be said for the TW4’s audio reproduction. It is soothing and not brash or harsh in any sense of the imagination. Not to say they are inaccurate or lazy, they are just warmer and don’t go out of their way to be the ultimate in sonic clarity. It is a refreshing change. One area that I need to give Sennheiser credit for is their use of the entire audio spectrum. The TW4’s can extend down to the limits of the audible spectrum at 20Hz. Many leading competitors’ products only go down to 40Hz. The added depth and dimension of the TW4’s are immediately noticeable. While the Sennheiser’s roll off after 10kHz, as do most, they can still hang with the best at the top and bottom end of the audio spectrum. Again, kudos to Sennheiser. If you are bass head, these deserve a look. No other ear buds I have in my collection can reach the lower limits as well as the TW4’s. NOISE CANCELLATION This is the one area the effectively holds the True Wireless 4’s back compared to its competitors. These ear buds are unable to effectively drown out ambient noise. Noise from a room air conditioner, mini-split, plane, car, etc. just isn’t subdued enough. I will fully admit that when I travel, there are times that I don’t want anything playing in my head. Times when I just want to put in my ear buds or put headphones on and let them drown out the world around me. These Sennheiser’s can’t do it. They can muffle it to an extent, but compared to nearly ALL Sennheiser's competition, their ANC technology is sub-par. However, with a good fit, playback can be enjoyed, and outside noise is often dismissed and/or diminished, being lost in the background. But it is not forgotten as it will immediately rear its ugly head as soon as a quiet passage in playback comes on. STREAMING QUALITY I experienced no issues using the TW4’s with either my iPad or my Galaxy smartphone. Bluetooth transmission distances easily reached at least 20 feet with no dropouts, even when listening to the high-resolution audio transmissions. What is worth mentioning is the quality difference between the Android and the iPad. The Sennheiser’s use Qualcomm’s S5 chip. This chip, or its ancestors, are included with several Android-based phones (especially from name brand manufacturers). Because of this, Android users will see the biggest benefit of Sennheiser’s use of Lossless and Bluetooth Adaptive AptX codecs. My Galaxy phone easily allowed me to switch between Bluetooth quality streams, where my iPad must make do solely with Apple’s AAC codec. I know some will point out that the AAC codec can supposedly rival the other lossless codecs, but in my experience, in this implementation, it does not. This AAC implementation is lossy, hands down. CALL QUALITY The TW4’s call quality is equally as good as any other premium player on the market. Call quality has progressed far enough that it is hard to pick which manufacturers do the best job at audio call clarity. The Sennheiser’s are no exception. Call quality was clear and intelligible with no dropouts. Callers commented that I was easy to hear and understand with decent ambient noise cancellation. FINAL THOUGHTS Even with their faults, I am thoroughly enjoying the TW4’s. I find myself using them more than other headphones or ear buds in my collection. While I, at times, want the best of the best in terms of accuracy and transparency, there is just something that keeps bringing me back to the Sennheiser’s. I find their laid back and easy-going nature soothing and stress-relieving. When the TW4’s were initially released, they did not support LE Audio or Auracast. These features were added later via a firmware update. I say this because I’m hoping Sennheiser continues to refine their firmware over the product’s lifecycle and improve the noise cancellation. It certainly needs it. If I were a frequent traveler on public transportation (whatever it may be, bus, subway, plane, etc), especially if I owned an iPhone, these would not be my first choice in ear buds. There is too much left on the table that Sennheiser’s competition does better. As an Android owner, these would absolutely be toward the top of my list, especially if I used them most of the time in ambient noise-controlled environments. RECOMMENDED

Great sound, comfortable, case is huge.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was incredibly excited to review the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, and for the most part that excitement has stayed pretty high after a week with these earbuds. I've reviewed a lot of earbuds over the last few years and I would easily place these at the top in terms of comfort and sound quality. While they are not perfect, I don't think anything is a dealbreaker but I'll detail below. #First impressions# Unboxing was pretty unexciting for the Sennheiser Momentum TW4s. I tend to think that top brands sometimes spend less time thinking about cool packaging because they feel their product speaks for itself. That might be true here. There aren't any cool little pouches or even a decent organizer tray included for the extra earpads and stabilizing loops, but I have a nice little bin for this stuff in my desk drawer. The actual case for the headphones has a VERY cool feel, a cloth/nylon type covering. I immediately set it on my wireless charging pad and let it wake up and top itself off. #Pairing/App/Extra Features# Pairing was super easy. The earbuds won't wake up until they've been connected/placed on a charger, which isn't that weird these days. Once that was done, they easily connected to my S22 Ultra. I downloaded the recommended Smart Control app and found it to be functional if a little light on features. No volume limiter, no Atmos. After that initial impression I've ended up deciding that the app allows for pretty serious customization for the earbuds beyond what other brands are including. You can customize normal stuff like the EQ and ANC, but also can change the touch controls and easily change the codec to maximize your sound quality. I found the Lossless audio worked better with my phone as the S22 Ultra wouldn't connect at 24bit as indicated with the "High Resolution" option. I really like that they give you a battery protect mode as well. Too many of these earbuds get worn out in less than 2 years. #Sound# Fantastic sound quality. A very warm sound that was surprisingly open for ANC earbuds. In the aptX Lossless mode, I can pick out some details that bluetooth compression usually crushes especially with acoustic music. Bass is exactly what I hope for in a set of higher end earbuds - tight, hard-hitting, but not tuned to be loud enough to drown shortcomings. Overall the sound is just exactly what I was expecting from my experience with traditional Sennheiser headphones. These stand quite a bit above the other premium earbuds I've used in the last few years. #Detractors# I've already mentioned the lack of an included/integrated organization system for the extra earpad sizes and stabilizers, although that is kind of a minor deal to me. A bigger problem is the size of the case itself. It's unnecessarily huge. Out of 5 earbud sets that I've used recently, the Sennheiser case has the hardest time fitting in my pocket with a single car keyfob alongside it. It's the thickest case of the earbuds I have on hand, and close to the widest and longest. The earbuds themselves are large but still comfortable, so that explains some of the case size. Problem is, the case is large enough that it's made me consider continuing to use earbuds I like less when I go to the office just because it's so big in my pocket. That's despite the fact that the Sennheisers are more comfortable, sound better, and do a much better job at noise isolation than any other earbuds I have for the office environment. For those with bigger pockets or another way to carry the case (or no car keys) then I'm sure the case is fine. I'll attach a photo with this review comparing to others I have. #Conclusion# An excellent set of earbuds at a premium price but with the premium comfort and sound quality to justify the price. Just a bit big in your pocket.

Premium Earbuds
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 earbuds are a premium set of earbuds. The cloth covered case with the signature Sennheiser logo on top screams premium, and is also capable of wireless charging. Battery life is exceptional. I was able to go six hours straight with ANC on and switching between podcasts, music, videos, and phone calls. After all that, I was still at 20% charge. After about 20 minutes in the case I was back up to 60%. I should also mention that these earbuds are extremely comfortable. Even after all that time in my ears, there was zero fatigue. The touch controls are the best that I have used to date. Extremely easy to use, customizable, and no errors so far using them. The Sennheiser Smart Control app has bunch of features you can turn on or off. It also has an option to manually EQ your earbuds, or personalize the sound to your liking. I highly recommend using this option, because to be honest, out of the box I was not too impressed with the sound quality, but after running the sound personalization feature, these earbuds came to life. I was also very happy to see that I could turn off the transparency option with phone calls. This is huge plus for me because I work in a very noisy environment(auto production plant). You also can set the audio resolution for those audiophiles out there, and there is also a low latency gaming mode. As for the active noise canceling, or ANC. The Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds are the best I have used to date. I own several sets of ANC earbuds, and these have outperformed them all. As I mentioned earlier, I work in a very noisy environment, and after putting these in my ears, it dramatically reduces all the background noise. I'm very impressed with the ANC on them. The only complaint I have with the these earbuds is the microphones. They work fine in normal environments, but where I work, people struggle to hear me during phone calls. They say it sounds muffled and hard to hear. Overall I really enjoy using them everyday. Likes: 1.) Phenomenal sound after running sound personalization 2.) Exceptional ANC 3.) Excellent touch controls Dislikes: 1.) Poor mic quality in noisy environments
