When I first saw that they were rebooting Shaft again I had very low expectations for it. After hearing that this movie was a nice surprise I caught it on one of the premium channels, and it was amazing in every way. They paid homage to the past without throwing a bunch of annoyingly self-righteous jabs at it. They also made the new Shaft good and funny without making him someone you can't root for. This was definitely something that I had to buy for myself.

The movie abandons what made Shaft in the past. Bad attempt to tell some kind of new version of a Shaft story, however, will likely appeal more to Shaft newbies than to Shaft devotees.

When they take a classic theme song and turn it into a 21st century remix. You know the movie is already gonna suffer. The movie was ok but the first one was much better.

BUYER BEWARE This may become an eventual trend, but the packaging for this movie on the side of the box say 4K UHD Blu-ray. But, be careful- no Blu-ray version in this movie is included in this Best Buy special If you want a blurayHD VERSION you’ll have to make another purchase for that by itself. Granted, we all know this was coming - remember when Blu-rays came with a DVD for this in transition ... then they stopped including DVDs after a few years? My only complaint is this was sitting on the shelf with all other 4K Blu-ray packages as normal. It should have been identified as “Best Buy 1 disc special edition” or something. So now I have a disc I can’t play and not to be burned twice, I purchased the Blu-ray from another vendor . (No, you’re not allowed to return opened software/optical discs to Bestbuy per their return policy) Anyway, I’ll keep the disc, since I would have purchased the 4K/Blu-ray/ digital version anyway - that’s what I went there to do - since I’ll be upgrading to 4K shortly Again - excellent movie Poor “Best Buy special “ packaging I’ll now have to double check every 4K purchase from Bestbuy

While entertaining, this follow up is largely forgettable. Much more of a comedy than the last Shaft movie, lots of inexplicable gun fights. Good popcorn material.

I enjoyed the original Shaft played by Richard Roundtree in the 1970's, but this movie was so much better. This movie is highly entertaining with a good story line, lots of action and some humor. And Samuel Jackson is great, as usual. I especially liked that the movie built from the original Shaft story and added so much more. You will not be disappointed!

Samuel L. Jackson does the impossible and actually does a great job in starring as John Shaft #2! The 4K colors actually bring out Jackson Red Coat in vivid detail and the Dolby soundtrack rocks through the speakers especially in the car chase scene!

The beginning has much slapstick or cliche type jokes, but as the movie progresses, it becomes just like the movie that came out in 2000. It's not as serious as the first one, but worth watching if you're a Shaft fan, or a Samuel L Jackson fan. It is funny and the best part? Three generations of Shaft! The original shaft was in this too. I recommend adding this to your collection.

Jackson was pretty good in this one. It seemed they were trying to portray him as washed up with old fashioned ways.

Has nothing on the original Shaft , but still watchable and I know I saw it as a youth, yes I’m that ancient.

My wife really wanted this, so I got it, but I am not a big SSJ fan with his mouth he runs in the media.

I enjoyed this version of Shaft. It was entertaining and Sam L Jackson is having fun with this role.

This is a good movie. But a long ways from the original. I think it could have been better.

Funny movie with a history from the 70's , follows the adventures of the family with the next generation, this is a adventure/ action film with no apologies, just like all the Shaft movies before ( not PC ) action adult humor car chases gun fights,

Enjoyable movie. What can one say about Samuel Jackson. He is too funny. Just laughs.

Poor performance of some actors. Needs more action. The original was slow too.

Another entertaining release of the famous cop SHAFT. Sam Jackson was meant to play this dude and for the fans of the original man with a plan, Richard Roundtree makes another cameo as well. This has become a generational concept that is entertaining and fun action all in one.

Much funnier then I was expecting, it’s a pretty decent movie
