Do Not Buy!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned two Shark vacuums that worked very well for several years so, I thought I would try a lightweight model but, that was a mistake. After less than 90 days, it overheated and erupted in an explosion of dust and dirt then it shut off. Although it powers on, there is no suction. I was very disappointed. Also, it doesn't work on shag rugs.I bought the warranty and I have an appointment with the Geek Squad this week so, hopefully I will get it repaired or replaced. A vacuum at this price point shouldn't stop working after less than 90 days.

The Power Button not well placed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum is okay. The power button isn’t located in an ergonomically convenient place. When you tilt the body back..the power button is located below the handle. You have to use your other hand to turn it on. It still does its job.

Nice Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a secondary unit for my home. I have a shark Apex duoclean zero m from about a year ago and I really like it, so I got this for a secondary unit. It functions much like the larger vacuum at a fraction of the weight. It has a crevice tool, uphoulstry brush, and a pet tool. all work well and two of them can be stored on the unit. The suction is very good, and does not seem to fade. It is light and maneuverable, and gets under low objects by going almost flat. The long cord is great, I can get a lot of space done without unplugging. I am really glad I got this vacuum.

Outstanding little vaccum with a few drawbacks.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box this vacuum comes in several different pieces. Assembly is very easy as everything clicks together and releases with a button press. The design is completely modular which is very nice. Included in the box is the motor/main unit, extension wand, main vacuum brush attachment, dusting tool, pet hair/upholstery tool, and crevice tool. I've used each of these tools and am very impressed with the the upholstery and dusting attachments. It uses a tank like most modern vacuums and it also requires two filters (included). So as a regular vacuum this thing is amazing. I ran this in a carpeted bedroom after assembly and it pulled about 1/3 of a tank of dust and dirt out of the carpet. I had just vacuumed the day before so this wasn't accumulation, this was just stuff that was getting left behind by my expensive ... "other" brand vacuum. I was both impressed and disgusted. The main vacuum attachment is great, it's attached on a swivel so you can navigate hard to move furniture, or bed frames very easily. The stick design also lets you get far under beds, couches, and any furniture really as long as you have the clearance. The brush is apparently self-detangling but I haven't had it long enough to comment on this. So far no blockages. There is an LED that lets you know if everything is working fine (read the instruction manual) as well as a couple of front facing lights that illuminate dark corners or under the bed. The attachments all work great, the most impressive being the upholstery/pet hair attachment. It's not powered like main vacuum part so it spins entirely through suction. It works amazingly well, easily pulling up pet hair. The crevice tool is like every other crevice tool, it does it's job. The brush/dust attachment is the only one I've ever used that's actually worked. I used it to clean the blades of a ceiling fan and it got them looking like new. There's also a detachable hose if you prefer to take the vacuum handheld but ... it's not the greatest. The hose detaches very easily but it's quite short, and the vacuum motor section might be heavy for extended use. It just depends on your comfort level with it. There are also 2 filters included. One is for the vacuum and one is a hepa filter. The main filter can be cleaned by rinsing in cool water and is supposed to be cleaned every month. They both have long lifespans (2.5 and 3 years respectively) but it might be a good idea to order some in advance so you don't have to wait and worry down the road. I'm really happy with this vacuum, it's powerful and easy to use for me, but there are a few negatives to consider. The weight will almost certainly be an issue for a lot of people. If you have arthritis or just want something that's more comfortable to use then you might want to look at something more lightweight. This is a corded unit, which means the power is great but it's not as convenient to use as other stick vacs. The included attachments are all good, but there's really not a great place to store them. There is a clip that mounts to the stick but it only holds 2 of the 3 attachments. With them attached though you can't really use the vac as you might like, getting under beds and other furniture will likely knock it off. I only keep it attached when stored. Speaking of, when not in use the brushroll attachment has built in wheels that will pop out so you can store the vacuum in an upright standing position. This is very nice, but since the motor is on top it's very wobbly. I would definitely recommend storing this against a wall. These are all relatively minor complaints, the big one is this; you cannot use this vacuum on hard floors. With the main attachment connected the brushroller is always active. There is no way to disable it. I suppose you could use the dust attachment, but it's so small that it would take quite a while to cover an entire room. This may not be a problem for you depending on your flooring. We have hardwood and tile and use a vacuum on both of them. As much as I love this new vacuum I've had to make space to store this one as now I have 2 vacs that I use on a regular basis. I don't know how this was overlooked but it seems like a huge oversight. Whether or not any of these are deal-breakers depends entirely on your use case scenario. If you have a completely carpeted home then this vacuum is perfect. If not ... maybe not. At this price I feel the inability to use this on hard floors is probably enough for most people to give it a pass. The brushroller WILL scratch hardwood floors, so now you know.

Powerful suction in a light/small size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Shark UpLight Duo Clean is surprisingly powerful for something so light and compact. Our previous stick vacuum was no where near this powerful. I selected this product for its smaller size which meant I could compactly keep it as a second stick vacuum for cleaning up on the second floor, though it may get more use. In our case the timing for testing it couldn't be better, the day it arrived we were moving 10+ year old wood furniture and doing so created a ton of dust, which this thing picked up great. Right away after even just a short cleaning job I could see a notable amount of dust that it collected. Assembling it was easy (did not need to reference a manual), though admittedly it seemed a little difficult to figure out how to get the hose to disconnect from the base (I think I was expecting it to work different) - but for me that was not a major issue. It's a small thing, but i love that there is a light on the stick so you can see what you're cleaning, makes it easier to move to make sure you picked up everything.

With great power comes niggling issues
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If there is one thing you cannot complain about with this vaccum, is the power it has. This thing really does suck up dirt and gunk really impressively. So, that alone makes it a really really solid vaccum cleaner. But it does have minor issues, that might be make or break for some people, and as you'll see with the list below every pro has a "but" attached to it 1. As mentioned above - it has great suction power, no buts heree 2. Handy attachments for portable use - but the portable use can be awkward - the design is so that you hold the body in one hand and then have to fit in the other attachments and pull on the pipe with the other. However, the fittings can be finicky when trying with one-hand, you have to inadvertently place the vaccum down and fit them altogether. 3. The auto rolling action of the vaccum makes it really really easy to push it forward, but on carpet makes it hard(ish) to pull it back. Its not back breaking effort but you feel you have to put in an extra effort, cause the rollers are moving in one direction - forward. 4. It is fairly compact, and stands upright, but the plastic wheels that jut out when straightening the shaft to support the vaccum, will need to stand the test of time. Hopefully they will, but they look to be a bit bendy (hopefully not fragile) 5. The overall design of the vaccum makes it top heavy and so again requires more effort than a vaccum that has the dust canister at the bottom. So, even though just in the dust gathering category this thing really, really aces the scores, I personally do not like to use it. I still prefer my old vaccum which is getting slower but atleast doesn't feel like a lawnmower on my carpet. But if you are stronger than me and won't feel the effort in moving this thing forwards and backwards on a carpet, or the weight on your wrist because of the design, this thing can really clean your house.

A decent vacuum for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Apex UpLight Lift Away vacuum cleaner is a decent vacuum in this price tier and vacuum type. I was looking for a light weight vacuum for the sole purpose of vacuuming pet hair in between regular vacuuming. I have two large dogs and a cat which means TONS of hair. Here are my thoughts after 2 weeks of use. Pros: 1) Light weight: It is light and easy to maneuver. 2) Great attachments: This is one of the biggest selling points for this vacuum. The pet hair attachment worked great. I was able to get a ton of pet hair off of my furniture. 3) Multiple setups: You are able to go from completely upright to using the wand with the crevice attachment to removing the canister and using the brush. Cons: 1) Power button: The power button is in an awkward location. Instead of being towards the front of the handle in the natural position of your thumb, it is placed at the back of the handle. While not a deal breaker, it is something higher end vacuums tend to offer. 2) Average suction: Compared to a higher tier model we own from the same brand, the suction seems to be lacking. I can go over areas with our other vacuum and still get a fair amount of dirt/dust/hair from the carpet. 3) Small canister: Having two large dogs and a cat I vacuum daily. I found myself emptying the vacuum cleaner multiple times due to its small canister size. Overall, I think this is a vacuum best designed for a smaller house or apartment. The pet hair attachment worked great. It was lacking in suction and canister capacity.

Great Vacuum for Pet Owners!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been about 5 years since I upgraded vacuums and oh man have vacuums improved in that time! This vacuum is slim and yet more powerful that our previous vacuum. It does a great job at getting all the invisible dust and dog hair that has always bee there but our other vacuum never managed to get. I love all the attachment that it came with and I actually used it to clean my car and it worked great! It's probably not meant to be used as a car detailing vacuum but it's so strong that it cleaned my car really good! Highly recommend this little powerful machine. Super happy with it!.

Wow I am highly impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now I am new to this stick vac setup. But it cleans so much faster than my main vacuum It's ease to switch from carpet to floor with any adjustments and keep on going. The canister setup is really cool for reaching hard to reach areas. The other cool thing is when it's in that mode it shuts the brushes off to avoid damaging the belt or drive for the brushes. The cord is extra long also I do have on gripe that it's kinda top heavy. So it's a bit more to get used to. But other than that. It's really easy to assemble and easy to follow directions.

Super Sucker, Strange Ergonomics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark seems to come out with something new quite often, this particular machine represents a number of steps forward in vacuuming tech and a few small steps back. This vacuum is a hybrid/crossover between a regular upright vacuum and a canister vac. The canister portion rides way higher, like a stick vac, and then it can come off and be used with accessories away from the brushroll by itself. The build quality, noise, and ability of this thing to pick up dirt and debris are outstanding. No questions about it's utility here. Much more quiet than I expected. I know Kenmore has been putting lights on the front of brushrolls for years, but this one works well and is well executed for working under furniture. The ergonomics and button placement on this unit are a little suspect. It's almost as if the vacuum was designed and then just sent to a 3D printer without prototyping first. The canister piece, while handy, is also quite heavy for most to use. The accessory holder forces you to choose one to leave in the closet, and the capacity varies depending on how you have it configured - canister or upright. Overall I like this but found myself contorting some or being uncomfortable while I used it, which I thought was unnecessary. I'm into the innovation here, but bring in an ergonomist to tell you where to put what!

Good Power but Odd Design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this product cleans very well. Good power and the pet hair attachments are great. However, the tank at the top Design is a bit odd. It makes it heavier while using and you have to remove it to get to the hose. Not a show stopper but something to be aware of.

The reviews are accurate...run to buy yours NOW!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviews are accurate! This little puppy propelled itself on my bedroom carpet and made me disgusted for waiting so long to buy a née vacuum. I was assured of the deep cleaning by a quick glance at the canister. I had to double check because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and how quickly it worked. I didn’t want to stop cleaning, though I had vacuumed the day before, because I was sure it was that dirty I. The other carpeted area. Then I had to try out bare floors and it cleaned parts and corners that I typically take a hand cleaning to make them shine. Then I was off to the area rug. It didn’t have quite so much to clean there and that may be because my dog cleaned up the dinner leftovers or that the rug is just newer than the carpeting. The canister is a tad small but I honestly only noticed because I was amazed at how quick it was collecting. The roller was completely spotless after its first run. There was a little more effort in cleaning the area rug but the other areas I didn’t have a workout at all. I bought my last vac from BB and it didn’t last. But this is my 3rd Shark and the best of the 3. I sent my pics and comments to a friend and she’s already online buying hers now. I bought it at 5:15 today, put it together, cooked a steak and watched a show and then wrote this review to share the news after vacuuming. Buy it, go now!

Compact and versatile
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had two vacuums for as long as I can remember- a larger one for deep cleaning, and a smaller one for furniture and quick jobs. This one replaces both vacuums. It's easy to operate and quick to change between an upright and a compact hand held vacuum. I have long hair and this vacuum makes short work of cleaning it without the hair getting tangled in the brush. The soft roller makes this unit really effective on bare floors. The one thing that makes this vacuum stand out is the above floor capability. The canister and wand detach from the floor nozzle making it easy to clean ceiling corners and air vents. The only drawback is the unit takes a little getting used to when maneuvering because it is top heavy.
