Awesome little fan. The attachments are great. Easy to use. Loses a star for being silly overpriced and for not including the lanyard or clip in that crazy price tag. They actually want you to give them more money for these items. Pretty sweet fan nonetheless.

A great cooler but with few minor flaws

This portable cooler is quite interesting and generally well designed, but it's not without flaws. It has some strong points and a few areas that could improve, depending on how you intend to use it. It seems like a product made for real-life situations rather than just looking good on paper. However, small drawbacks do become more noticeable with continued use. The design stands out. It is not just a basic handheld fan; it offers more than one function. It feels like thought went into how people would use it in different settings. Whether you're at a desk doing homework, relaxing at home, or trying to cool down outdoors, the device aims to meet those needs. The rotating design is one of its best features. You can adjust its angle and position easily without having to hold it constantly or prop it up with other items. This flexibility makes it more practical than typical small fans or portable coolers, which usually blow air in one direction and limit your control over positioning. The package is simple but complete. You receive the main unit with the fan attached, a cold plate, and a mister attachment. It also includes a USB-C charging cable, replacement wicks for the mister, and a small carrying pouch for accessories. Nothing feels overly fancy, but it is organized and practical. It provides everything you need to start using it right away without complications or unnecessary extras. The main device's build is a bit different from what you might expect from an ordinary portable fan. It consists of two connected cylindrical sections. One part contains the fan and motor, while the other holds the battery and control system. These sections can rotate relative to each other, allowing for various positioning options. This feature is more useful than it may seem. For instance, you can place it on a table and angle it to blow air upward, which is effective when sitting or lying down. It offers a level of flexibility that most basic fans lack. The controls are straightforward and user-friendly. There is a dial that you can turn and press, along with a display screen that shows the current mode and settings. You don’t need instructions to understand it, which is always a good sign. It is designed to be simple enough for anyone to pick up and use right away. When you switch attachments, the display updates to match the mode, making it more organized and less confusing. A minor drawback is that the screen does not rotate with the device's position. As a result, it can be slightly awkward to read depending on how you set it down. It’s not a major issue, but it is something you might notice. The fan performs well. It moves a good amount of air for its size, and the adjustable speed settings provide flexibility based on your needs. At lower speeds, it is fairly quiet and comfortable in spaces like bedrooms, classrooms, or study areas. It generates a gentle airflow that isn’t distracting. However, as you increase the speed, the noise level rises. It is not harsh or annoying, but it is noticeable. In quiet settings, especially on higher settings, it can become distracting over time. While this doesn’t make the device unusable, it’s something to consider if you prefer near-silent cooling. The cold plate attachment is one of the system's standout features. It cools quickly and provides immediate relief when it touches your skin. Its direct and simple action makes it effective. There aren't many settings or adjustments, but it doesn't require them. It serves as an immediate cooling method when airflow alone isn’t sufficient. It's particularly beneficial when you're already feeling too hot and want quick relief instead of gradual cooling. The mister attachment is also helpful, although it's more situational. It produces a fine, cool mist without making your skin wet or sticky. This is a significant advantage, as some similar products can leave you feeling damp, which is uncomfortable. This one maintains a light and refreshing mist. However, it's not something you'll use all the time. It has small internal wicks that need replacing over time, and while extras are included, it requires ongoing maintenance. It isn’t difficult or expensive, but it is an extra step that some might not want to handle regularly. Battery life is probably one of the weaker aspects of the device. It’s not terrible, but it’s not impressive either. At higher speeds, the battery drains fairly quickly, which can be limiting if you’re outdoors for extended periods or away from a charger. It works fine for short sessions or indoor use, but it might not last as long as expected for prolonged cooling. On the bright side, it uses USB-C for charging, making it easy to recharge with common cables or portable power banks. This helps offset the shorter battery life, but a longer runtime would still be an improvement. Portability is also worth mentioning. While it is technically portable, it’s not extremely small or lightweight. The rotating design and multiple parts add some bulk compared to a basic handheld fan. It’s still manageable to carry in a bag, but you won’t completely forget it’s there. Whether this matters depends on your intended use. If you want something minimal and light, it might feel a bit bulky. However, if you value features and flexibility, the size is reasonable. Overall, this is a solid product with thoughtful design choices. It goes beyond being a basic fan by offering multiple cooling methods in one device, and it largely succeeds. The rotating structure is genuinely beneficial, the cold plate performs well, and the misting feature provides additional cooling when necessary. However, it’s not without its flaws. The noise at higher speeds, average battery life, and minor usability issues like the non-rotating screen become apparent over time. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a versatile cooling device who doesn’t mind a few trade-offs. However, if you seek something extremely simple, completely silent, and ultra-lightweight, this might feel a bit more complex than needed.

We’re a youth sports family, so we’re basically living outside from spring through fall—weekends at fields, weeknights at practices, the whole thing. Being in the Midwest, that stretch from late spring into early fall can get pretty brutal heat-wise. So anything that promises a little relief has our attention. We’ve tried the usual suspects—misting fans, neck fans, cooling towels—so when I saw the Shark Chill Pill, I was definitely curious. First impression: the build quality is solid. It’s plastic, sure, but it feels like a well-made Shark product—nothing cheap or flimsy about it. That said, I’m still a little puzzled by the ergonomics. The double-cylinder design looks interesting, but functionally it doesn’t add much. Since you have to hold it the whole time, you end up gripping one side while aiming the other, and it’s not something you can just set down on a table or bench and let it do its thing. Feels like a design choice that didn’t fully translate to real-world use. Operation is super straightforward. You’ve got three attachments: a standard fan, a cooling mist, and a cooling plate. The fan has 10 speeds, which is great for dialing in the airflow, though it’s a bit louder than I expected. Still, it pushes a nice, focused stream of air, which helps when you’re sitting in direct sun. The mist attachment is actually really well done. You can run it continuously or in intervals, and it doesn’t leave you feeling soaked or drippy. It’s more of a light, refreshing mist that cools you off without making a mess—honestly one of the better implementations I’ve seen. The cooling plate is easily my favorite feature. It gets cold—like, surprisingly cold. There are two settings, and even though it still runs the internal fan (so you’ll hear it), the cooling effect is legit. I didn’t expect it to be as effective as it is. I haven’t fully tested the battery life across all the different modes yet. Shark claims pretty strong runtime, so I’m hoping that holds up, especially during long tournament days. At its price point, I’m still not totally convinced it’s a must-have for everyone. But in terms of what Shark set out to build—a versatile, portable cooling device—it does deliver. One nice touch is the included travel bag. It makes it easy to bring all the attachments with you, so you’re not stuck wishing you had a different setup once you’re already out in the heat. All in all, the Shark Chill Pill is definitely earning a spot in our gear bag this summer. If you’re spending hours outside like we are, it’s a pretty handy way to take the edge off the heat.

I’m a big fan of another company that makes very powerful and VERY expensive fans, but their small personal fans aren’t very powerful . So when I saw Shark had this (and I’m a fan of many Shark/Ninja products) I had to give it a try! Fan: wow, how is this little guy so powerful? 10 different speeds! The manual suggests levels 1-5 are for indoor use, while 6-10 are for outdoor use. If I’m just working during the day, level 3 is good enough to provide comfort and not be ridiculously loud - the quieter the room, the louder this is going to be, and i work in a quiet environment. When I’m on my treadmill though, 5/6 are perfect as treadmill is louder anyways. Mist: This was the one of the main reasons for trying, MIST?? What? Why didn’t this exist 20 years ago? The mist setting itself was a little difficult for me to figure out. Every time I pressed the button it would just turn off - because I was pressing it too hard. It’s a light press to cycle through the mist settings. Once I figured it out, I was happy. Pros: Fan is very strong and you can direct it straight to your face/body by angling it Mist feature is great, it’s surprisingly strong and feels good on the body You can use a lanyard on to carry it on your body. There are other accessories on Shark’s website Cons: Fan level 5-10 are very loud and not entirely suitable for indoors/quiet settings Mist: you’re supposed to replace the wicks every 30 days, 1 is pre-installed, 3 spares included. Looking at the website, it’s sold out, and I worry what I’m going to do when I run out

I was looking for a cooling device that I can send with my daughter when she attends camp later in the summer. She has long hair so I'm looking for solutions that are bladeless. The Shark ChillPill looked very interesting. I'm a fan of the Shark products. I own a handful of their products and have been satisfied with their capabilities. The ChillPill caught my eye as is a 3 in one system. By default, it is a fan, but if you swap out the head unit, it turns into a mister or a contact cooler. In the box, you get the ChillPill itself. You also get a USB-C charging cord, a bag for accessories, the fan head comes pre-installed, but you also get a InstaChill Plate and a Misting head with a wick pre-installed and a bag of 3 extra wicks. After charging the ChillPill, it took me a couple minutes to put the rubber cover back on the USB-C port. I finally found that I had to pull the cover a little short before it would sit back down on the USB-C port. The ChillPill unit itself consists of two cylinders that can counterrotate from each other. On the battery unit side it has a switch near the battery port that is the main on/off switch. Then there is a rotating dial, press the dial once and it turns the unit on, rotating the dial gives you different levels of fan speed depending on which head you have on the unit. Otherwise, press the dial to change different levels. Finally, when using the misting head, you may have to press and hold the dial to turn it off. When replacing the heads, it is recommended that you turn off the ChillPill unit using the main switch. After installing the desired head, when you turn on the main switch it assesses which head (based on some contact sensors) is installed and responds appropriately. In the user manual, there are recommended settings ranges for different activities. When it involves the fan, 1-5 is usually recommended for an indoor setting, whereas settings 6-10 is recommended for outdoors. I found that level 3 was the highest I would want to go for an indoor usage without making too much noise. The fan is more than adequate in an indoor setting. At fan speed 1 it should last about 11 hours, whereas fan speed 10 runs about 1.5 hours. The fan moves quite a bit of air at the top speed. If you use the Cooling Plate, the runtime for level 1 is about 2 hours and level 2 runs about 1 hour. I like the idea of the cooling plate. I think that will get quite a bit of use. For her, she wants to cool down her core temp rather than just cooling down her skin. So using the cooling plate is ideal where she can touch a few contact points to cool herself off. The mister is where I became a little disappointed. When using the mister, you can run it with the set fan speed and either full mist or intermittent mist. You get about 4 hours at most and down to 1 hour depending on the fan speed. However, the mist duration is very short at about 10 minutes. The reservoir is very small and the wick needs to be replaced each month. While you get a total of 4 wicks in the pack, 3 wicks from the Shark store will cost about $5. I will say that it is true to the advertisement, it is a dry-touch mist with no accumulated moisture. Another point of disappointment is that the ChillPill doesn't provide you with any carrying options right out of the box. While you can carry it in your hand or in a bag, or even twist the cylinders to balance it on a table to aim towards you while its on the table. There aren't any straps or clips that are included with the package. Instead they cost extra from the Shark website. I will likely craft my own lanyard or carrying device. One thing I was pleased to learn about the ChillPill is that it can charge while operating. It takes about 3.5 hours to charge completely. So I expect that running the fan only above a level 5, you will likely drain faster than you can charge. The ChillPill is definitely handy as a personal cooling device. I think my daughter will appreciate having it while she's at camp later in the summer. I like the 3 in one design. Like I mentioned, the Cooling Plate is probably going to be my daughter's favorite feature. However, the price is a little steep. Lack of out of the box carrying options and short misting duration are also negatives.

    Very Effective Portable Cooling

I live in Arizona so I’m always looking for ways to attempt to keep cool. I was intrigued by the design of the Shark ChillPill so I wanted to try it out. Here’s my opinions after testing the fan for past 4 days. This is a portable fan/mister/cooling plate device. There’s three different “head” attachments that allow you to change the way you use it. It’s a very compact device, like the size of a hand. My initial testing showed a very good battery life. I’ve used it for about 2 hours and it hasn’t needed to be recharged. My personal favorite usage was as a misting device. You can load water into the misting cap and the fan blowing acts as a personal mister. It felt great and instantly cooled my face. I was about 3 feet away it provided a very steady misting stream. I was able to get 8 minutes of misting before I needed to add more water. Overall very effective and didn’t leave me soaked. The second usage I tested was the cooling plate. This attachment is a slightly rounded metal head that you apply directly to your skin to provide quick cooling. Shark advertises a 17 degree impact cooling. I don’t know if my face dropped that many degree but it felt very relieving upon touching my skin. This seems like it would be very effective if you’re outdoors watching a kids sports game or doing outdoors work and want some quick relief from the heat. The fan worked fine but this is where my two biggest complaint about the ChillPill come into play. First complaint, the device is loud. I had it on my work desk and I had to shut it off while taking phone calls. It sounds like the dental device that they use to get fluids out of your mouth. My second gripe is that the device’s angle doesn’t appear able to be adjusted. So you need to place it close enough to you to hit your face which means it’s going to be fairly close. I suppose you could prop it up from the rear to but you may not have something readily available to do that. If you’re looking to buy this to primarily use as an indoor desk fan, I might recommend looking at something else. The fan does work great for outdoors where an outlet is not readily available. Overall, I really like Shark’s ChillPill. It does what Shark advertises and cools very well. I rated it a 4 out of 5 due to the fan not being great for indoor usage. If you’re looking for a portable cooling device that won’t take up much space in a carrying bag, I’d highly recommend looking at the ChillPill

I've had plenty of gadgets and gizmos over the years, but I've never had a personal cooling device before. I didn't know how effective they would be, or how they work. To be honest, I still don't know how this one works. What I do know, is that it works surprisingly well. The fan feature is powerful, not too loud, and moves a surprising amount of air for something so small. The cooling plate gets genuinely cold in a matter of seconds, and makes a noticeable difference in comfort when I put it on my wrists or neck. It took a while to fully charge initially, but it also has a highly rated run time. It would be a great gadget to take with on summer backyard bbq's, or kids' sporting events. I plan on having it with me while I go fishing just in case. The cooling mist feature is also really cool. You can fill the little tip with water and it will provide a great cooling mist for your face. I honestly didn't know what to expect with this thing, but I have been pleasantly surprised and how well it works. If you are someone that overheats easily, or are often uncomfortable in warmer settings, this may be a gadget that can help with your comfort.

The name of this handy product speaks for itself. It is a battery operated, highly portable personal cooling system. The first thing that I need to mention is to not let the small size of this fan fool you! This little guy can belt out a surprising amount of fan power. The fan is so powerful that I was regularly using the lower settings. As the product description states, this is a 3 in 1 personal cooling system. The three functions are a high speed fan, cooling plate, and dry mist. Included in the box are the 2 attachments (dry mist and cooling plate), USB-C charging cord, and a soft bag. Once charged the ChillPill is easy to put into play. The battery is rated to last between 1 to 11 hours depending on the power level that is selected. I used it easily for a few hours and did not notice the battery level reduce itself too significantly. The fan can not be used while charging. The ChillPill and accessories are highly portable using the included soft bag. It can be adjusted in many different orientations and also worn using straps (not included). Overall I am very pleased with the look and operation of the Shark ChillPill. I have already gotten inquiries and looks of interest while I am out and about with it. With summer around the corner I am very much looking forward to putting this handy dandy guy to some serious outdoor use.

    Cooling Plate is Awesome

The Shark ChillPill is going to come in very handy this summer! I love that it’s small enough to fit in my purse and won’t take up much room in my back pack. The attachments are neat, but the cooling plate takes the cake - it gets SO cold, I can already anticipate how beneficial it will be on my theme park outings in the hot sun. I’m pleasantly surprised at the 10 speed settings, it’s such a wide range, I feel like most personal fans have up to 5 settings, so to get 10 is very nice. Let’s talk about the two accessories. The cooling plate has two intensity settings and even the “lighter” setting gets pretty cold, quite impressive. It feels great to the touch, especially on the neck and wrists, and to top it off, it stays cold as long as it’s on, unlike a cold/ice pack which needs insulation to stay cold and will eventually warm up. The misting attachment is nice, but keep in mind it requires a wick replacement every month. This package comes with 1 wick pre-installed as well as 3 extra wicks, which I figure I’ll use in June, July, and August. The battery life lasts between 1.5 - 11 hours, depending on the fan speed that’s used. I find that I’m most likely to use fan speeds 2-5 so I’m getting a pretty good use of the battery life even though I don’t get the full 11 hours. This comes with a USB-C cable and takes a few hours to fully charge up, so as long as you anticipate, it’s possible to have a fully charged fan for those hot outings. Overall, the ChillPill is a very versatile fan. I like that I can use it handheld, or set it on a table and twist it to aim it as needed. The battery life is acceptable and this package comes with a good set of accessories as well as a pouch to neatly store the unused accessories. I don’t really have any complaints, maybe that I wish it came with wearable accessories so I could rest it around my neck, but I read that those are available for purchase separately. I’m looking forward to using this fan a lot more when the weather warms up and it looks like I’ll be able to get some practical use out of it this weekend!

Summertime is quickly approaching and the compact, rechargeable Shark ChillPill personal bladeless fan has some tricks up it's shaft that looks to keep you cool when the temps start creeping up. Those trick come in the form of swappable attachments. A bladeless fan, a dry-touch misting pod and a metal InstaChill cooling plate that gets noticeably cold on contact. Product claims of 16°F drops sound ambitious but in real use it does feel nice in cool on the spots it makes initial contact with. But with prolonged contact I can feel the plate get a bit warm. The Chill Pill runs on 10 fan speeds (speeds 1-5 recommended for indoor use and the rest for outdoor use). The battery that lasts decently on lower settings but drops fairly quickly on high. I found the battery to be adequate to last enough for me to mow my lawn. I jerry rigged it to my mower because it doesn't come with an attachment (more on that) and was able 2 have the fan run the entire time. The mister provides a quick refresh the evaporates before soaking you. The plate gives direct cooling on hot spots like your neck or wrists. The ChillPill is geared for anyone dealing with heat, workouts, or frequent travel find it useful for on-the-go cooling and offers more options that a basic travel fan. On the downside, higher fan speeds get pretty loud, the mist reservoir is small and lasts only about 10 minutes on continuous mode. The accessories like straps, belt clip and handlebar mount cost extra and some aren't even available at the moment which is why I had 2 get creative mounting it to my mower. At the price point of around $150 it should have at least included a clip or strap for hands free carrying. At least a small carrying bag is included for the 2 different heads. Every accessory Shark sell seems like a complete money grab especially for what Shark is charging for the accessories. While the ChillPill isn't massive, it will take up and entire pocket or occupy 1 hand without an accessory. Build quality is solid, multi-mode cooler is intuitive to use out of the box without reading the instructions and it works better than a cheapo personal fan. Charging from flat dead will take just about 3.5 hours which is a bit long, but can be used while plugged in. The Chillpill is effective if you overheat easily and want options in a small package, but the noise, limited mist runtime, and cost (plus added accessories) might make it less appealing. If you want more than just a simple personal fan and the added cooling options from the mist and metal plate interest you, the ChillPill is a capable and useful gadget for hot weather. However, the high price combined with expensive (and sometimes unavailable) make it nice to have vs a need to have. It’s a strong performer, but only worth it if the alternative cooling features meaningfully appeal to you and you’re okay buying extra accessories to make it truly convenient.

It has been said that there are no bad products; only bad prices. That is definitely the case here. This is a versatile fan that is obviously high quality, but at the MSRP, this is a tough sell. The unit consists of two cylinders, connected by a swivel joint in the middle. One cylinder has the battery and controls, while the other holds the fan assembly. The trick here is that the fan assembly has three different head attachments which give it different functionality. I will go over these one-by-one. – High Speed Fan – This is the default attachment, and the unit is then “just” a fan. The thing to note is that the fan itself is just a scaled-down hair dryer motor. It does move enough air to keep you cool, but the stream of air is rather narrow and will need to be carefully aimed. Note that it is audible at the lowest setting, and quite loud at the highest. You do get 10 speed levels. If you just need a fan, you can get much less expensive units that move more air with less noise, but are physically larger. – InstaCool Cooling Plate – A Peltier junction is a type of semiconductor that actually acts as an air conditioner. One side of the diode gets hot while the other grows cold. Amazing cool technology, with the singular disadvantage being that it is remarkably inefficient. The Peltier head is called the “InstaChill Cooling Plate” and it works. The fan cools off the hot side of the diode, while the cold side connects to a metal plate. The airflow is directed out and sideways so that you are not hit with the warm air, and the cold plate can be touched directly to the forehead, neck, etc. While it works, it does feel more like a gimmick. Still, if you live in a humid environment, this will create a spot that is lower than the ambient temperature and provide some relief. This is a feature that is unusual, but does exist on other competing units. – Dry-Touch Mist – This is actually VERY nice to have. The head has a small water reservoir that goes to a piezo humidifier head. The result is that you get a fine mist that evaporates, which actually creates a cool stream of air, and it feels heavenly. The big catch here is that this type of technology only works well in dry climates. I live in a semi-arid area with low humidity, so this works amazingly well for me. The disadvantage is that this will NOT work if you live in a humid area. If it is a dry heat, this will help. If it is hot and muggy, this might not be that helpful. While this works, one thing to note is that the water supply is so small that it only lasts about 10 minutes before you are refilling it again. Also of note is that the wick in the head is supposed to be replaced every month, but it does come with three spares. – Conclusion – This is a jack of all trades, but a master of none. It is versatile, but that versatility comes with a very real cost. I like it, but at the MSRP, this is a tough sell.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
