I did some research on vacuums before purchasing and, while this model was highly rated I'm not sure I agree with the quality of performance others have experienced. The vacuum seems to be made well but, I do not think it picks up debris very effectively.

I bought this vacuum on sale for $149 to replace a name brand and fairly expensive vacuum that shorted it's motor out after only 2 1/2 years of apartment use. Likes: 1. It's extremely light weight - 15 lbs. Unlike my precious vacuum that weighed something like 27 lbs - this thing is easy to handle when I'm cleaning the stairs. 2. Suction galore! The vacuum has a very powerful suction and it easily cleaned embedded pet hair (from my 4 yr. old Lab) and dirt that my previous vacuum apparently was leaving. 3. Compared to other vacuums I have own. It's quiet. 4. The dust/dirt container is easy to remove and replace - and with just one touch of a button, the bottom of the container drops - which makes for quick and efficient emptying. 5. This vacuum easily maneuvers around furniture, etc. 6. The brush can be shut off for cleaning bare floors or if I am using the unit to clean my car. 7. The beater bar (brush) automatically shuts off the moment anything becomes stuck in it, and it is easy to restart. 8. Comes with lifetime, washable filters - and even comes with an extra filter to use while your primary is drying. Seeing that my previous vacuum required I replace it's $30 filter ever three months - this will save a fortune. 9. No suction loss - even when I had the dirt/dust container filled all the up to the recommended empty line. 10. My dog loves the pet hair removal brush - he thinks he is getting a massage when I used it on him to remove shedding hair. 11. It has a long cord - 30 ft . 12. It comes with a 5 yr. warranty.(However, I choose spend the extra $20 to get Best Buy's 4 yr.warranty so I wouldn't have the shipping hassle should the Shark break down.) Dislikes: 1. Like my previous vacuum, I have to step on both ends of a throw rug when I clean it so it doesn't get sucked into the beater bar. Sometimes a powerful suction is not a good thing. :-) 2. Not all of the attachments can be stored on the unit itself. However, the unit does come with a bag that will hold all the attachments that is not made to fit on the vacuum.. 3. The dirt/dust container is smaller than I would prefer. 4. No light. Overall, I would give this vacuum a 4.5 star rating and would recommend it to anyone. It's well worth the money.

Only had this for about 3 -1/2 months and it's dead. Vacuum still works, but the roller doesn't spin; so without that, it's useless on carpet. The belt is fine, but the electrical motor that spins it is dead. Their warranty states 7 years, but it also states that electrical parts are excluded - off course. If it was meant to be a throw away vacuum, then it's way overpriced. I'll fix it myself, but if you're not very mechanically inclined, look for something better. My usage: light office vacuuming, less than 10 minutes a day, light office debris (nothing bigger or heavier than maybe cookie crumbs).

The small canister fills up quickly so I have to empty it after vacuuming an area 10' x 10' or 5' x 5' if carpeted. The motor runs hot so I can feel the heat blowing out from the front. You can quickly warm up a room vacuuming it. It's great for cold winter times but not so great in the hot summer days. If it blows this hot, I'm guessing it uses a lot of electricity but haven't tested that with an electricity usage meter to see how much.

This vacuum does have great suction, but it does not swivel, and the base is very narrow, which means vacuuming took forever.

This vacuum is really heavy does not have suction when it comes to bare floors. do not recommend

i have been using Dyson for years now and decided to switch. Based on the reviews I read I thought it was worth it. However, compared to Dyson this product doesn't stand a chance. It lacks the suction power I am used to and that I need having a large dog in my household. I would not buy this product again.

Ads say it is light weight but not as I expected. Also, aux hose is difficult to utilize and handle would be better if length could be adjustable.

Vacuum cleaner does a good job. Love the bagless system. Only complaint is that you cant get under beds or furniture well.

I have had my Navigator for about 2 months. It rolls easily and smoothly and is pretty lightweight. Overall its pickup is pretty good. I like not having to readjust going between hard floors and carpet. The canister is easy and not messy to dump. BUT, the pet attachment does NOT stay attached while in use and it's necessary to hold it in place. I have fauxsuede pet covers on my couch (found in many catalogs) which take a lot of work to vac pet hair from. The attachment falls off so often, I end up using lint rollers instead. Also, when holding the attachment in place (while trying to vac), I often get pinched between the connector and corrugated tube. Ouch! Since I don't know a pet vac attachment that works better, I think this is a buyer beware. I will recommend this vac to others but with the warning. Hopefully Shark will address it.
