I didn't check previous reviews before purchasing. I was returning one a different brand that didn't work. I previously owned a Shark before I really liked so I purchased this one, but found out it doesn't pick up as well as the one I had before.

    Great Vacuum for the Price

I have owned the vacuum for a few months now and it has exceeded my expectations. As soon as I bought it I swept a room with my old vacuum and followed up with the Shark. I was expecting to find very little and was surprised by the amount of dirt/dog hair my other vacuum was missing. The Shark is very easy to empty and clean. Also it is quiet compared to other vacuums I have owned. My only concerns are the quality of the vacuum, the majority of the vacuum is plastic and feels cheap. I haven't had any part failures, yet. But the front is scratched in several places, and I've made a point to take good care of it. Also the vacuum comes with attachments that do not stay on the unit itself. So you need to keep a bag (provided) with attachments available as well.

    Still going strong

I can't even tell you how long we've had our Shark Navigator. I know we purchased it from Best Buy & that it has been over 5 yrs. I think, if I was looking at reviews, to make up my mind on a purchase, longevity would be important. I will say that our Shark is still picking up dirt and dog hair like it did on day one. How can our dogs make so much hair??!! The ONLY problem we have encountered is that, apparently, a piece of plastic has broken off of the filter cover on the exhaust filter (front of machine). When vacuuming, the cover shoots off & flies across the room. And the filters could stand to be replaced, after many years' hard use. We just went out & bought a second one, today, at Best Buy (for another bargain), but it really wasn't necessary. I wish we had looked at Shark's site, first, & we would have found out we could have replaced ALL the filters for $19.95 and the broken exhaust filter cover for $9.95. Oh well, we now have a new replacement, waiting in the wings, if we ever need it. Overall, for a family who used to replace vacuums once a year, due to heavy use, we could not be more pleased that our Shark is still going strong. You will not regret this purchase.

Left me in Awe & Disbelief

Still happy with it 3 months later. It is just as good as the first day I bought it. Comes with extra filters. Filters do not need attention often. Bag-less. I didn't believe the reviews and TV infomercial until i put my faith in the best buy reviewers and bought one on sale. Man does this thing leave Dyson in the dust. It picked up things in my carpet I did not even know were there. The first time you use it the canister will fill up very quickly due to the amount of debris your previous vacuum failed to suck up. I just can't even reiterate how good this vacuum is. The pet tools are awesome that come with it. You need this if you have cats or dogs. It sucks the hair up with ease. The one thing I was more surprised about than anything was how quiet the thing is even with the motorized brush on. It's the quietest vacuum I ever owned. If you have any doubts; Just try it the worst that could happen is you save the box and receipt and return it if you don't absolutely love it.

The reviews for this vacuum were decent so we decided to get it. Within a month it stopped working and the rollers wouldn't move. We tried everything that they said online. All in all we ended up returning it and exchanging it. For the amount of money we spent it definitely wasn't worth it and now have a different vacuum all together!

INSTANTLY AWESOME!!! THE BEST EVER, BEATS DYSON!!

THIS VACUUM IS SOOOOOOOOO AMAZAING!!! It's a wonderful price against the Dyson and functions about the same (minus the ball) and has more cyclones. It literally ALWAYS HAS THE SAME, STRONG SUCTION POWER with every use...I love it so much, that I've become obsessed with vacuuming several times a day. It ALWAYS finds some dirt or dust or lint that the human eye can't even see. Then I empty the container with each use. It's very easy to maintain and comes with extra goodies for cleaning, such as an extra long extension for easier cleaning and a pet and drape attachment. This is the best ever!!! I also love the fact that you make the bottom brush move with the touch of the foot. I have arthritis and it's hard for me to push and/or hold certain items with my hands. As a result, the light vacuum weight is featherlight and is so easy to use. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. IT'S EASY TO USE AND MAKES CLEANING FUN. ALSO, THE FILTERS AND VACUUM ITSELF ALONG WITH THE CYCLONE CHAMBERS ARE EASILY CLEANED WITH SOAP AND WATER.

While this item was advertised as great for clean up for pets I found it was not great at all. This vacuum does not pick up much of anything very disappointed in the product. The cord placement is designed very poorly. Would not purchase a shark in future.

I can't believe how well this thing works. I vacuum on a regular basis and brought this home only to be astonished at how much my old machine had left behind. I had a 12-year-old Hoover that needed to be replaced and while I wanted a Dyson I simply couldn't afford one. The reviews on the Shark seemed good so I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm glad I did! The Navigator is much, much quieter than my previous vacuum and the suction is unreal. You do have to empty the small-ish dirt cup regularly but it's very easy and sanitary to do so (the dirt drops out from the bottom of the cup into the garbage). The first time using the Shark I filled up nearly half the kitchen trash can with dirt and cat hair! Unbelievable. The only thing I don't like about it is that it wants to tip over when using the extended hose. The machine is top-heavy and has a narrow base so you must prop or hold it up so it doesn't wobble when extending the hose. But for the price and performance that's a weakness I can live with!

This vacuum was the worst vacuum that I have ever owned. The suction wasn't there and the hose kept falling as I was moving. I ended up buying the more expensive one and it picked up three times the amount of dust...right AFTER I used this one.

I've always bought really cheap vacuums; I don't think I've ever paid more than $50 for one. So, of course, I've never had much faith in a vacuum's ability to pick up dust and dirt and pet hair. I'm really happy with my whole experience in buying this. It was price-matched in store, so I got a little bit of a bargain. It was super easy to put it together once I got it home. As I read in others' reviews before picking up my Navigator, the first time I used it, we had to dump the cannister every few feet of use. The cannister is easy to empty and snaps right back into place. This is really the best and easiest-to-use vacuum I've ever owned. What surprised me is that, once I'd vacuumed with it once, it barely picks up anything in the times I've vacuumed since. I have two cats and a dog, so I've vacuumed a couple of times in the week since I got it just to see what it would continue to pick up. What amazes me is that I was used to coughing at night around the time I went to sleep. I waved it off as allergies, but since I've started using the Shark, and since it's been picking up a lot of the gunk that my old vacuum cleaner would have missed, my cough has disappeared. My apartment smells much better. It's inspired me to move forward with spring cleaning.
